First time our comp plan has felt like a retention tool rather than a source of complaints
Variable compensation is supposed to motivate people. In practice if the process around it is opaque or error-prone it does the opposite. Reps who feel uncertain about their commission start looking elsewhere, sometimes before you notice. We had some of that. Since Visdum the feedback from the sales team about comp has changed in tone. Questions about how things work have replaced complaints about whether things are right. That is a meaningful shift and it shows up in how managers describe the mood on their teams.

The month end close used to have a commission-shaped hole in it
Every other part of our close process had proper tooling behind it. Commission was the exception. It sat in a spreadsheet that had been built up over time by people who were no longer at the company, and understanding what it was actually doing required a level of institutional knowledge that was uncomfortable to depend on. Visdum replaced that with something that can be picked up by anyone on the team without a handover document and three hours of explanation.

Payroll and commissions finally work from the same numbers
The disconnect between what the commission calculation produced and what payroll actually needed to process used to create a reconciliation step that nobody owned cleanly. Finance thought it was payroll. Payroll thought it was finance. The outputs from Visdum feed into our payroll process without that gap. Figures are consistent, the timing works, and the back and forth that used to happen in the final days before payroll cut-off has largely stopped.
