What I like best about NetSuite is its flexibility and the way it brings so many business processes into one connected system. Because the data is relational, information entered in one area can support reporting, automation, accounting, project management, customer service, and operational decision-making across the organization.
I especially value the ability to customize NetSuite through saved searches, dashboards, workflows, custom records, integrations, and SuiteScript. This makes it possible to build solutions around the company’s actual processes instead of forcing every department into a rigid, one-size-fits-all system.
When NetSuite is configured well, it becomes much more than an accounting platform. It can serve as the central source of truth for the entire business, reduce manual work, improve visibility, and give teams the information they need to make better decisions.
I am a big fan of using saved searches to provide insights for scheduling and keeping track of sales orders. Additionally the ability to filter and highlight certain information allows for users to more efficiently see the priority orders to be worked on or checked up on with the warehouse and customers.
I use Oracle Database at work, primarily in my FP&A role, and I find it great with sparsity, which makes it quite efficient. It's a good way of consolidating information and ensures that models run efficiently. I appreciate that the database is very viewable and not hidden behind a structure that's hard to visualize. There are a lot of connections to it, so it's quite easy to connect up to different systems, which means I can move my data to and from Oracle more easily. I also use it with Snowflake, and the integration is quite seamless.
