My only suggestion would be to make the optional contribution to Zeffy at checkout clearer, since some donors may initially think it is an additional required fee. A brief explanation or more noticeable opt-out option could make the donation process even easier. I would also love to see more customization and advanced reporting options in the future. I love that Zeffy tracks the donations I receive, whether electronic or cash donations, if allows me to keep a running tally of what donations we have received, then it even sends out the tax receipt. This year I tried to run camps, and the hard part creating a way for the client to sign up and pay for multiple camps at one time. So if a parent had multiple kids that they needed to sign up for several different camps they had to rescan each time, or I have to set up different links for them to charge the whole package. I like 2 aspects the most. 1. It does not charge me fees to use. No account fee, no transaction fees for credit cards. We are a small volunteer group who do fundraisers to help buy equipment for our high school sports teams and fund scholarships for deserving graduating senior athletes. 2. The ability to install their Point of Sale app on a couple of old iPhones has transformed our snack shack fundraising to allow us to accept any tap-to-pay. I know the 'gratuity' model is key to Zeffy's revenue model, but I wish I could turn it off on the point of sale on the phones. I'm selling $2 sodas at a football field, and my customers find the 'tip' function off-putting so we often need to explain that it is a fee for Zeffy not a tip for us and it is optional. There are many upsides to Zeffy. The very easy way to input all the information necessary for our charitable events, the fact you can design questions specific to our needs especially if you are doing something a bit different. When a neighbor gives $50, we receive $50. The 3–5% we used to lose to platform and processing fees was real money, and it's now going into housing vouchers and food instead. It has also made asking easier, because I can tell a donor honestly that their whole gift reaches the work. The second thing is having everything in one system. Donation forms, event ticketing, automatic tax receipts, and donor history all live together. I'm a founder and executive director without administrative staff, so receipts going out on their own and being able to see donor and revenue data in one place instead of reconciling three tools and a spreadsheet saves me hours I don't have. The reporting is fine for what we need now, but it's fairly surface-level if you want to slice donor data more than a couple of ways. The voluntary contribution prompt at checkout is also worth naming. I understand why it exists and I support the model, but it occasionally confuses our older donors, who aren't always sure whether the extra amount is going to us. I've had to explain it a few times. We're a small nonprofit doing chaplaincy and direct-care work in New Orleans, and on our budget, losing 3–5% of every gift to platform and processing fees was money coming directly out of programs. Zeffy eliminated that. Over a year, the difference is measured in actual housing vouchers and grocery cards for our elderly unhoused neighbors, not in a line item. There's a trust benefit too. Being able to tell a donor plainly that 100% of what they give reaches the mission changes the conversation. Before that, we were collecting money through PayPal and Venmo, which meant fees were eating into what people paid and there was no easy way to see who had registered or paid at a glance. Zeffy solved both problems. We use it for ticket sales, keeping our attendee list organized, and it automatically sends receipts, so we're not manually confirming payments or building our own spreadsheet from scratch. Since our reunion runs on volunteers, not paid staff, that simplicity mattered. Nobody on our committee needed training to use it, and we kept every dollar attendees paid, rather than losing a percentage to fees. I haven't used Zeffy for fundraising, only for the financial and record-keeping side of running our event, but for that purpose it's been reliable and easy to hand off to volunteers. Getting Stripe verification set up through Zeffy required an EIN and formation documents, and the legal name had to match my IRS letter exactly, punctuation included, or it triggered a manual review delay. That's more a Stripe/IRS requirement than a Zeffy design flaw, but it was a hurdle to work through. Zeffy also has many facets. It took me a while to sort out which features were built for a small reunion like mine versus larger organizations with more advanced fundraising needs. What I have really liked best about Zeffy, is not only affordability but the fact that I have a voice and say into how the platform develops and improves. We are V2C Inc, a small US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and we process donations through Zeffy. What drew us in was the promise that 100 percent of every donation reaches us, with no platform commission or processing fees deducted. After several months of real donations, that is exactly what has happened. Embedding the donation form on our website was straightforward, and it works cleanly on both desktop and mobile. Tax receipts are sent automatically to donors, which saves genuine administrative time for a team our size. Zeffy sustains itself through optional donor tips at checkout, and that model feels honest because it costs our mission nothing. Before, every option we evaluated took 2 to 5 percent in platform and card fees, which is real money for a small nonprofit. With Zeffy, a $30 donation arrives as $30, so we can tell donors truthfully that every dollar goes to the mission. It also automates tax receipts, which removes a manual task from a volunteer-run team, and gave us a professional donation page and embeddable form without needing a developer or a paid subscription.
