Users may not always realize everything that is available to them without some training or guidance. It gives users a centralized place to find relevant authority, check the status of cases, and validate citations without relying on multiple resources or manual processes. A lot of what Westlaw can do doesn't announce itself, which is exactly why the training work you're doing matters. The salesman was nice. They cover big states well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. What do you dislike about Westlaw? They claim they provide resources they don’t actually have. They also don’t offer short-term trials or let you cancel your contract before a year is up, even if you stop using it after the first few months because it’s been useless. Even after you take the time to write out your reasons for canceling, they just respond that they don’t cancel. Their site also doesn’t consistently show when you’ve used resources outside your plan, yet they still charge incremental overages at a high rate. On top of that, they constantly spam you with their AI tools, which offer minimal—if any—value. They say they have efficient estate planning tools, but they don’t. They say they cover small states (like Idaho), but there aren’t many, if any, state-specific documents. They also claim to have state- and county-specific probate forms and tools, but they don’t. Their onboarding that’s supposed to make the form builder efficient is useless. Finally, they didn't integrate with my CRM, calendaring, and other tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com. It will certainly help users address legal questions and topics, find relevant authority and indicate when the same is at risk of being undermined. Coverage is the thing we're least willing to compromise on, so it's good to hear the national database is doing its job for your clients. The search default is a fair complaint, and it's one we've heard from other experienced researchers. If you'd rather start from your own terms every time, your Thomson Reuters rep can walk you through your search preferences so you're not opting out on every query. The broader point stands too: someone who knows exactly what they're looking for shouldn't have to work around the AI to get there.
