A user can ask it complex legal questions in everyday language and receive generally good answers. The deep research is good as are the products that check work. **What do you dislike about Westlaw?** The AI is not perfect. It can generate documents and answers that require attorney review of specifics. **What problems is Westlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Westlaw is certainly Top Tier with respect to Legal Research platforms. It will certainly help users address legal questions and topics, find relevant authority and indicate when the same is at risk of being undermined. It crashes often, and even the interface is not as good as the website. Lexis provides virtually the same services, some better, some worse at a much lower price. The natural language search in Lexis works better than Westlaw. Very importantly, you can cancel timely, but you can never leave. First, they will continue to bill you, even though you have canceled and when you finally get that straightened out, they will continue to hit you with more pills. When you think you have it all straightened out, they'll send you another bill. I believe the idea is to harass you enough to get at least one final payment out of you just to avoid getting more bills even though you don't owe them any money. I find the company as a whole, to be dishonest, distrustful, and generally sleazy. **What problems is Westlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** None ### 24. I like the reports created from public searches and the index and bookmarks that come with the report. **What do you dislike about Westlaw?** I don't particularly appreciate that there are different charges for different features when accessed through other methods. For instance, if I type in a case or citation and click on it from the Dropbdown search menu, I will be charged less for pulling the case than if I pressed enter or the maginifying glass button in the search bar. **Recommendations to others considering Westlaw:** It is a great program. It's hard to give more detailed recommendations without being able to compare it to Lexis Nexis its competitor. I would recommend setting up a turtorial or training with a Westlaw specialist to learn some of the tricks and hidden features of Westlaw and to better understand your plan. **What problems is Westlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** I find public records, researching case law, obtaining sample drafts of pleadings. Whenever I need a residential address, phone number, email address, or more detailed public records, Westlaw is very useful. ### 30. It is extremely user-friendly and accessible. It includes many built-in features that help make legal research, and other tasks for lawyers, seamless. **What do you dislike about Westlaw?** As is the case with all legal research platforms, it can be expensive. They offer different types of plans/accounts to combat this issue, but it is still pricey. This is their biggest downfall. I think they need to have more options available that are more affordable. **Recommendations to others considering Westlaw:** I highly recommend you switch to Westlaw from whatever other research platform you are using. It is easy to use and a game-changer. There are a lot of training programs (that are free) available to users if you aren't as familiar with the platform or to teach you tricks/tips on how to use the platform in the most efficient, best manner. Take advantage of these opportunities. They are insightful, and I have personally learned a lot of skills from these training programs. **What problems is Westlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Westlaw to conduct legal research when I am drafting court documents, motions, and also when I deal with novel legal issues or legal issues that pop up in pre-litigation cases. Westlaw is beneficial to me and makes my job much easier when I need to answer a legal question that I need to explore in a case. Out of blue she is our new "rep" and accuses me of one of my legal secretaries being an attorney (so they can gouge us and increase our monthly fee). Then she decides to send a certified letter lying by claiming after months of negotiating (she approached me literally only three weeks ago) and she wants to increase our rate from $5,998 per month to $12,914 per month! Absolutely zero empathy or compassion, just zero customer service skills. Only after money, period. **Recommendations to others considering Westlaw:** My advice is to simply stay away. If you must sign-on, then I highly recommend you get everything in writing in the contract. From my experience, they will go back on their emails in a heartbeat. Their cases are automatically listed in order of most relevant and cited, versus other leading research brands which simply list the cases in order of most relevant to your search. **What do you dislike about Westlaw?** The statutes interface is less usable, as it takes more time to search for the relevant statutes than what I've experienced with other leading legal research brands. Although Westlaw provides the Rutter Group treatises, it's more difficult to either get to the treatise and/or find the relevant provision within the treatise you're looking for. **Recommendations to others considering Westlaw:** Make sure you want to use the Rutter Group as your go-to treatise. **What problems is Westlaw solving and how is that benefiting you?** Westlaw helps expedite finding the most relevant and cited cases. Other Legal research tools were very complicated and we had to take training to learn them but on the other West Law was much easier to use. It has been made by Thomson Reuters and as the parent organization, West law is one of the most trusted legal databases there is. The best thing about West Law is the Case Law research even though it's a foreign database it works just fine for Finding Indian Case Laws. Other Thing I like about West Law is the the Docket Search It makes the job actually easy. **What do you dislike about Westlaw?** I have no problem with the working of this database. But the biggest drawback is the customer service. They keep transferring the call from one department to another and I feel they aren't interested in retaining the customer aswell. **Recommendations to others considering Westlaw:** West Law is a very good database with a compromised after-sales service. There is no problem as such with is also but kills times.
