Webscale was able to offer the expertise we needed in configuring a reliable AWS environment for our production and staging platforms and the environment performed reliably. They forwent any sort of cost-optimization in several areas. Firstly they separated every single service onto it's own EC2 instance so we had 13 or so instances when this could have been run on far less. I understand this modularization is for reliability, but it was excessive especially when it combined to an AWS bill of $6000/month for a relatively light application environment.
