The cost of the system is negligible, especially compared to the time savings it creates. Before using BI I researched several products. Many of these were attached to existing software solutions for membership or philanthropy environments; none were designed as volunteer leadership solutions as a primary function but rather as an afterthought. During the recent COVID pandemic, we utilised the e-Learning modules to ensure that volunteers were kept up to date with required procedures and allowed for internal governance. The ongoing development of its functions and support are outstanding. There were initial concerns from staff and volunteers regarding its implementation, as it was assumed that older volunteers would not cope with the transition and technology. Schedules can be created for whatever time-frame is needed, be tweaked however needed for formatting or additional information, and sent out to all volunteers, volunteers on a backup list, all volunteers on the schedule, etc. Email templates allow for sending routine emails in seconds, and a search option allows for sending emails to however narrow or broad of a group as you wish. Email history tracks all communications with a volunteer. Searches for a particular group can be named and pinned to the Administrator home page for quick and easy access. Required training can be created as eLearning Modules that volunteers can complete from their home or office, either on a computer or their mobile device. Volunteers can sign-in for a volunteer shift using a designated laptop or via the free app on their phone. They can also log a past shift they may have forgotten to sign-in for, update their contact information, search for and sign-up for volunteer shifts, check their schedule, complete annual training, look at our our social media feed and read the newest volunteer news on their Volunteer Profile. Customer Support is always available via their awesome Help Files or ask them for help in their very responsive messaging service. Regular updates are the norm, and there's even a forum for administrators to submit our ideas for improvement. **What do you dislike about Volunteer Impact by Better Impact?** There is not an option for the hourly value of an activity to be added and calculated automatically on reports. I currently have to export a volunteer report to Excel and then add this field manually. I make it work, and seeing whereas this is the only thing I dislike about the system, it is still more than worth it to me. I have hope that via the forum in which they solicit ideas for improvements from other administrators, this will be recognized as a need and added in the future. **Recommendations to others considering Volunteer Impact by Better Impact:** If you are looking for ways to save time, involve your volunteers more, and want more accurate data (and to track more of it), then Volunteer Impact deserves a good look! **What problems is Volunteer Impact by Better Impact solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before Better Impact, I was using paper applications and sign-in sheets along with at least 4 different spreadsheets or lists in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Paper applications and sign-in sheets have been eliminated. All my data is in one place, and the data I track has greatly expanded. We had a spreadsheet to track volunteer time that had been built by an Excel expert (complete with formulas and reports that would automatically generate) but the bigger it grew throughout the year the slower it became, and I discovered one day last year that the data in its auto-generated reports was inaccurate; I spent days afterward compiling data by hand for a crucial report. Not to mention the countless hours spent all year typing in each volunteer shift by hand. Our address database had been created by someone in Access, and not being an expert in Access, I had messed it up somehow and was looking at having to completely rebuild it in Word and Excel. I still had to enter in all the addresses into Better Impact during the on-boarding process, but I have no fear of losing the data in the future. In essence, the biggest problem-solver has been the problem of TIME - I can do so much more now that Volunteer (Better) Impact quickly and easily completes functions that would take up hours of my time. ### 17.
