"A Practical Sweet Spot: Reliable vSphere Performance Without Overkill"
4.5/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

What I appreciate most about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) is that it feels like a practical middle-ground virtualization platform for environments that don’t need a huge enterprise cloud setup. Since Broadcom shifted everything to a subscription model, being pushed into full-stack infrastructure bundles can easily feel like overkill. With VVF, we still get the core performance of vSphere Enterprise Plus along with localized vSAN storage, without having to pay a premium for complex add-ons like NSX networking or heavy SDDC automation that we simply wouldn’t use. Overall, it really hits the sweet spot for teams running standard clusters who want reliable virtualization and solid monitoring, without the bloated licensing overhead. What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

What I dislike most about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) is how manual and disjointed lifecycle management feels compared to the full cloud stack. Since VVF drops the automated orchestration layer (SDDC Manager) that comes with VCF, you’re essentially left operating more basic, old-school infrastructure. Keeping track of updates, rolling out security patches, and provisioning resources across multiple hosts and storage nodes quickly becomes a major time sink for the engineering team. Overall, it feels like stepping back a decade in cloud orchestration, with staff forced to burn hours on routine management work, one task at a time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized Management with Room for Improvement"
4/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

I really like VMware vSphere Foundation for its centralized management and reliability. It's easy to manage virtual machines, allocate resources, and monitor workloads from a single platform. The automation and scalability features are also something I appreciate as our environment grows. The vCenter Server for centralized management, vMotion for moving workloads with minimal disruption, and resource management tools are the features I value the most. I also find the monitoring and lifecycle management capabilities useful in maintaining a stable environment and reducing manual administration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

One area that could be improved is the overall user experience for setup and configuration. Some advanced features can take time to understand, especially for new users. I would also like to see simpler troubleshooting workflows, more intuitive dashboards, and clearer documentation to make administration and issue resolution faster. "Reliable, Scalable Virtualization with Simplified Management in VMware vSphere Foundation"
5/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

What I like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) is its ability to provide a comprehensive virtualization platform with simplified infrastructure management. It combines compute virtualization, centralized management, and enterprise-grade features in a cost-effective package. The platform is easy to deploy, highly reliable, and scalable, with excellent performance and seamless integration with the VMware ecosystem. Its automation capabilities and intuitive management tools help reduce administrative effort while improving operational efficiency. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

While VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) provides a solid virtualization platform, the licensing costs can still be significant for smaller environments. Some advanced features require additional expertise to configure and manage effectively, and upgrades or compatibility between components can occasionally be challenging. The reporting and monitoring capabilities could also offer more customization. Despite these drawbacks, VVF remains a reliable, scalable, and easy-to-manage solution for modern virtual infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Centralized, Reliable Management—With Setup and Pricing Hurdles"
4/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

I like that VMware vSphere Foundation makes managing virtual machines and our overall infrastructure easier from one place. I can manage resources, monitor performance, and handle daily tasks without too much complexity. It helps us use our hardware more efficiently, keep workloads running reliably, and reduce manual work. It saves time on routine administration and makes our IT operations smoother and more manageable. I also value the integration between virtualization, management, and monitoring, and found the documentation helpful during setup. Once the initial configuration was complete, managing the environment became much easier. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

I find the pricing and licensing a bit expensive for some environments. The initial setup and configuration can take some time, especially in complex environments, and a few settings and integrations require extra effort and technical knowledge. I’d like a more user-friendly management interface with easier navigation and a simpler dashboard for monitoring performance, resource usage, and alerts. The documentation is helpful, but I’d like more real-world examples, step-by-step setup guides, and clearer troubleshooting instructions for common issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"vSphere Foundation Brings Order and Easy VM Management from One Central Console"
4.5/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

For me, the main thing was the notion that all these processes were no longer “messy”. Before my work on vSphere, I had always experienced a kind of environment where every single server seemed isolated, and any changes required additional communication efforts. When using vSphere Foundation, things started getting more structured and manageable from one center. I would check the status of VMs, resource allocation, and activities on hosts constantly, and soon, this process became routine. I especially enjoyed that I could create new virtual machines easily and change anything about them without a lot of bureaucracy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

This is not hard due to the fact that the tool itself is bad – this is due to the fact that much more lies under the hood. During the first uses, I felt that I could comprehend only the surface level, and all the work was done at a much deeper level of the infrastructure layer. Debugging may quickly turn out to be very stressful since there are a lot of aspects to consider. On top of that, sometimes I found myself running from setting to setting in order to find out why performance differs among different hosts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable Control but Tricky Licensing"
4/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

I like that VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF) helps me manage VMs without making things too complicated. It's very nice to have a lot of control and I value its dependability when managing important workloads. Another thing I appreciate is how well it fits into our company's infrastructure, making it easy to monitor the environment without needing a lot of tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

The biggest area I think could be improved is licensing and pricing. It's tricky to understand what you're paying for exactly, and it definitely needs more clarity. The main thing I'd like to see improved is making the licensing easier to understand, as it isn't always obvious what the VMware vSphere Foundation subscription includes and entails—how pricing is calculated, for example. Showing the cost for different environment sizes might help. The product is strong, but this licensing side can take time to work through. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Rock-Solid VMware vSphere Foundation: Easy UI, vCenter Convenience, Smooth vMotion & HA"
4.5/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

The day-to-day stability of VMware vSphere Foundation is what I find mostly like . It doesn't actually need constant supervision after everything is set up; it just runs also the UI is very easy to understand.

I probably use the vCenter dashboard the most because it's convenient to have everything in one location rather than having to log onto multiple servers. Because they let us to shift workloads without interruption, features like vMotion and HA are also quite helpful, particularly during maintenance or when anything goes wrong which are very to integrate especially with grafana .

It really aids in the use of resources as well. Workload balance used to be a continual concern, but now days it's largely done automatically, saving time and minimizing manual labor.

The price is moderable and when it's company wiste it's very affordable Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

What I dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation is that several aspects of the user interface and workflows seem more complicated than they should be since many sophisticated configuration settings are dispersed over various vCenter menus, which causes troubleshooting to go more slowly than anticipated. "Efficient VM Management, But Pricing Could Improve"
4/5
What do you like best about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

I really like the vMotion feature in VMware vSphere Foundation because it allows moving live VMs without any downtime, making the process feel seamless. The centralized management through vCenter is another highlight for me as it saves a lot of time. Instead of jumping between servers, I can monitor all hosts and VMs from one dashboard. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about VMware vSphere Foundation (VVF)?

Pricing is on the higher side, especially after Broadcom changed the licensing model, small and mid-size teams like ours feel the pinch. Initial setup and configuration also need proper expertise, we had to depend on our vendor for the first deployment since the documentation can get technical for beginners.
