What do you like best?

Backup and replication jobs creation is very straightforward. We can create backup jobs, and replication jobs as well as tape jobs. We can schedule backup jobs as we want. The portal clearly shows the status of backup jobs. So it is easy for us to determine if there is an issue. The reporting feature is excellent and offers a brief description of all backup jobs in the past several months. The backup restoration process is also easy. We were able to restore a backup without any issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes customer service response time is slow, and it needs to be improved. Need to improve service level agreement about providing technical support quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

You can customise the solution according to your requirements and the infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

When considering data centre backup solutions, Veeam backup and replication are among the best solutions in the industry. We have critical data, and so needed a reliable backup solution. Otherwise, it will be a disaster for us if the datacenter failed and we have no backups. After conducting many kinds of research, and based on recommendations, management decided to choose Veeam backup and replication. They provided a reliable backup solution for a reasonable price. Pre-sales team is ok, and the deployment team did a great job according to our infrastructure and requirements. When considering technical support, there was some time to provide a solution quickly. As of today, we never faced any significant issue with this product, and overall experience with this product is excellent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Having used Veeam at a couple of different organisations, I have been very happy with the product. Mainly using the virtual machine backup tools, I find that this is simply a must have for virtual environments. The granularity of the restores is particularly helpful, especially when dealing with large file systems. The GUI for the B&R app is simple to use and setting up new back up tasks is pretty straight forward. It does take a little while to get used to how they set up their backups, using the 3 2 1 method, but once you have an understanding of that, it become vital to the backup operations. When compared to other backup products I've used from other vendors, the choice to me is quite clear to use Veeam. I've found other backup products tend to have clunky UIs and sometimes unreliable backups. I'm also a fan of backup to disk and cloud over tape, which often can cause it's own problems. The speed of restore from Veeam is another benefit that I've found to be really helpful, as often when a user reports a file is missing they need it back immediately. Something that's not always possible when dealing with tape backups, even though Veeam can do that as well. I had used this previously to back up physical machines as well, when dealing with older 2003 servers that had yet to be decommissioned. That resolved a lot of headaches to keep us going through until they were migrated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

They can sting you with their support contract pricing. It's important to keep on top of that otherwise you'll end up with a large bill. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Check the terms on the support contracts and it works best if all your servers are virtual. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

It's used for the general day to day backup of most servers and provides an easy way to restore files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Veeam is very easy to setup and use. I installed it on my server and setup my Backup Repository on a NAS and my backup nodes easily right from the server. Multiple configuration options are available to cover any need. Options to store on the cloud as well. I have used many backup solutions over my 35 year career in IT, Veeam is excellent in every aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not much to dislike about Veeam, maybe a slightly easier interface, some options are a bit buried but a quick look at the manual or google search did the trick. (I had to move my backup configuration file which was not easily found) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Try the Community Edition and find out for your self. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Recovery of individual files is fast and simple. Backups are reliable. They offer the offloading of backups to a cloud provider, but it's not super intuitive. There's a free local computer backup agent to backup local PCs to the same location as our cluster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There is reliance on a local storage medium at the moment. The functionality around SOBR did not seem well documented unless you work with a third party vendor such as Exagrid. There was quite a bit of tuning required to get our large backups to fully dedupe as expected. We've been attempting to expand our licensing and have had difficulty getting an engineer on the phone to discuss our needs. Licensing for anything beyond 6 CPU sockets is a large jump. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Speak with a storage vendor at the same time. Their integrations and engineering support with Exagrid, Dell, or HPE are top notch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are backing up a VMware cluster environment. Primary use is file recovery for a large 7TB file server and a 500GB git solution. Our backups are much more reliable than our previous product and recovery of those files is very simple and I've never had an issue restoring an individual file. Easy to execute, manage, design and reestablish backups, from virtual machines to physicals workers, also from an agent that runs persistently on the workers. In this manner, it has some sort of excellent features, the record traveler alternative is awesome, and it is an all-around actualized granular reestablish answer for documents, which works even with Linux and Exchange workers. What do you dislike?

There is not a lot to hate about it. Paying for licensing through a third party vendor is a bit of an issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Veeam is very client arranged. They help from the second they are engaged. They blossom with consumer loyalty and achievement. What do you like best?

I've used Veeam since back in the mid 2000's in one form or another. It's progressively gotten better and better. Additionally, the new rollback feature is stellar as is being able to test in a test environment outside of production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

There isn't much. Mostly small nit picks like the job delete and edit button are right beside each other in the right click menu although there is a confirmation prompt so you don't accidentally delete a job but they're still a little close for comfort. I also would like a way to delete backup chains from within the B&R console rather than in the raw data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Veeam is easy to configure but in the effort to only do it once, learn more of the features and everything going in and you'll be further ahead. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Aside from reconfiguration here and there it really makes my backups pretty automatic especially with Surebackup making sure my backups are going to actually work should I need them. I am able to set different retention periods for different servers so more important jobs can be run more often to minimize the amount of lost data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Ease of use. Top notch support. It just works without any of the hassle that the competition's products have. It's reasonably priced and is constantly refined. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Not much. Sometimes there are growing pains during bigger upgrades but never to a point that will totally break my configurations. Fails could have better descriptions and information about what caused the fails, but nothing serious. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Don't waste time looking elsewhere. If you have a primarily virtual platform, whether on-site or SaaS based nothing comes close. Competitors will tell you how great they are. Try them out. Use the trials. You'll find yourself ending up with Veeam. Backups will no longer be a hassle. You'll be able to spend more time on other projects and tasks because it just works. It;s the best VM solution on the market, by far. Try it out. It's great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

None at this time. Using a newer backup to tape option for archiving was a bit troublesome but it's since been resolved. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

The best thing about Veeam is the reliability and the recovery speed it provides. When I use it, I am sure I can recover my data (with regular tests of the backups and following Veeam 3-2-1 rule). The recovery speed is amaizing - seconds! Try "instant VM recovery" if you don't believe.

Veeam supports tape archiving and has a very friendly management interface. In the rare cases when I needed additional help with the software, Veeam support team was outstanding, helpful, and engaged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Veeam is a real Business Continuity technology. It protects against hardware failure, VM failure, ransomeware (by securying the backup data and with a possibility for scanning before a restore), helps with auditing by preserving you data for longer periods, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

Veeam program is actually easy, simple to operate and capable of duplicating job on remote servers, and that is extremely surprising. It simply works. In addition to the simplicity of controlling backups to end products, you will have to search for another method which are able to do the exact same for the business of yours! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Additional license charges for internet backups. Competitive systems here have cost and strength. With the incorporated Terminal Backup License you are able to determine just one backup task. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Veeam has resolved the 2 most prominent issues for us. Replicating of our creation system to a DR webpage and replication of the VM's functioning. Backing up endpoints has long been a huge headache and an incredibly costly area. Now we can backup any kind of files and any kind of documents won't be lost. We managed to beat our tape dependency and make some backups, giving us more headaches than we could save. Using Veeam's services, we were able to extend our RPO with a wider range of recovery options for relatively small storage areas that only existed a few hours ago. What do you like best?

One of my favorite things is the visibility. Very easy to see what is going on without digging through too many sub menus. I like the web portal and knowledge base as it has helped me solve a lot of my own issues without having to contact Veeam for support. They have done a great job of compiling a list of issues and fixes for the end users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes the speed is not as fast as I think it should be going like it reports false information. I wish there was a way to get 1 comprehensive report of all my backups instead of multiple throughout the day. That is really the only thing I would change. Sometimes I have issues getting the windows agent to install on new virtual machines during the auto deploy process. Its not a deal breaker I just have to end up doing a manual install of the agent. Other than that there is not much else I have changed. I would not consider myself a pro at this by any means but it is very simple to use and get going. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

Backup of O365 Data is huge to my company. The ability to set my own retention policies outside of what O365 offers is great! Prior to moving to Veeam one of our biggest concerns was regarding files lost after employees leave. The Veeam for Backup O365 has obviously helped with this problem. also like that you are able to use additional storage repositories from 3rd party companies to expand the amount of storage you need. What do you like best?

Veeam is easy to use and maintain. It is very simple to setup without too many components, backups can be moved easily (in case you want to move them off-site) and it is very fast due to direct integration with storage vendors. The option to protect physical devices is a very big plus. Veeam listens to the customer although it can take quite some time before requested features are added to the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

The licensing structure is very unclear. As a customer we are struggling with the amount of options, resellers and pricing. Overall it is unclear what is the most efficient option for you. Nearing the end of your contract you are continuously chased by sales representatives to renew your contract. These representatives constantly change and there is always pressure (your contract is going to be more expensive) which can be tiresome at times.

Veeam has a tight integration with VMware, but when Vmware releases a new version it really takes quite a lot of time before Veeam supports it, usually with the first new version being buggy as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It can be very difficult for organizations to look beyond their existing backup solutions. Many of those are old or extended based upon legacy technology. Veeam started from scratch years ago so it is relatively young. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are trying to solve the possible loss of data. VM's and data (both on-premises and cloud) are protected, varying from accidental deletion to recovery of bare-metal VM's. Since the recent ransomware attacks on Dutch universities, we are looking into ransomware-safe backup solutions as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best?

If you run a VMWare Virutal Environment Veeam Backup and Replication is the tool you need to streamline all of your backup jobs as well as replications. This is a worry free tool which makes the headaches of keeping backups and replication jobs organized and maintained. This solution is also a great teaching tool for any young system administrators who are new to backing up and restoring VM's. It's built in wizard lay out all of the necessary information allowing for any admin to orgainzed when creating backup jobs as well as tracking them through logs. Moreover, the most important part about Veeam and where I believe it shines is during restoration of VMs. In a critical situation Veeam makes restoring VM's very fool proof at the click of just a few buttons you've saved a burning environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike?

Veeam has very little disadvantages and during the time that we've used it in our company, its been very difficult to find anything wrong with it. The best part about Veeam is their stance behind their product. In the event there are any issues with configuration, Veeam Support is one call away. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

With Veeam not only are we able to streamline our backup jobs and keep them organized through out each of our data centers. We are able to keep a consistent scheduling to ensure that we are never without backups of any machine in our virtual environment. We have also been able to do carryout a large scale data center migration with the help of Veeam Backup and Replication. As we backup servers in one datacenter we are able to easily replicate and restore them into other datacenters we have integrated with Veeam. This eliminates high utilization of bandwidth between our datacenters to transfer VM's while backing them up at the same time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
