Community edition worked fantastically and as now we moved to paid version, it's helping our business quite great than the community edition. I worked at many compaines but mostly its impossible to convince people to buy veeam licences. When you see price as dollar its not seems like too high but in my country that is too much. I use Veeam with a Synology NAS with a backup folder shared over SMB. I also use Veeam to replicate VMWare VMs to a remote site for DR site purposes. **What do you dislike about Veeam Data Platform?** Veeam starts to get complicated once tape backups are involved. A lot of the documentation is theoretical, and there are no guides or best practice whitepapers available specifically for tape media. So our IT team purchased a Veeam backup solution, which helps to move automatically and sends the notification after completion. Veeam backup is user-friendly solution. Learning process also not hard and anyone can work with that. we have been using this veeam for over four years, and veeam sends the daily notifications to IT admins email account. the restoration process also won't take much time. You need to get a ticket first then they call you which can take some time. Restore speeds are phenomenal. Replication between data centres is fast and simple. All task flows are foolproof and worry-free. tape management is great. Backup repository management is stable and fast. My job would be so much harder without it. **What do you dislike about Veeam Data Platform?** Recently an update has meant that the application-aware processing of Oracle databases means that the database needs to be manually taken out of backup mode when performing a restore. It is a slight inconvenience at the moment, but we are looking to upgrade to a newer version as soon as possible to fix that problem. The backups are fast and so far seem reliable. Their community addition provides many features for free but stepping up to a paid version is necessary if you have more than ten targets to backup. The only thing that might be an issue is if your backup destination is a cheap NAS, you may experience errors. I initially used a Buffalo Terastation Pro with AWS replication as the backup destination. Veeam was reporting errors which seemed to be an issue with the NAS. While it can monitor a wide range of systems and provide system and network information like any network/domain tool its really has superb monitoring and notifications/alerting for your Veeam environment. **What do you dislike about Veeam Data Platform?** In order to get information about the VMs in your environment that are missing Veeam backup you need to monitor all of the VMs and hence pay for a license for each of them. Just monitoring the hardware host is not enough to setup a proper policy to notify you if something is not protected on the hosts. **Recommendations to others considering Veeam Data Platform:** It's a really good monitoring tool if you already are using Veeam for your backups. While it can be used as a standalone monitoring tool even without Veeam, there are better monitoring tools just to monitor your network and systems, but this one is in a unique position to provide insights and monitoring about your Veeam backups but no other tool can. **What problems is Veeam Data Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** We have a policy that adds Veeam monitoring to any newly created VM, and it sends an email/notification if we have a VM running without backup or if the backup failed and we are in breach of our RTO/RPO for certain workloads. ### 46.
