My experience with UrbanBound has been overwhelmingly negative. I honestly question the value of my employer's partnership with them, as they provided virtually no assistance during my relocation. I ended up handling everything internally, making UrbanBound feel like an unnecessary and frustrating middleman. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Firstly, their website is a complete disaster. Uploading moving expenses is a needlessly complicated process. The categorization is clunky, and the system's rigidity is infuriating. If you're approaching your relocation allowance limit, be prepared for the system to reject any further receipts, even if you have funds remaining. Instead of a seamless experience, you're forced to contact customer support and plead your case. The entire process feels designed to be as inefficient as possible.

Secondly, the moving partners they recommended provided outrageously expensive quotes. I received two quotes, one for $7,000 and the other for $11,000. The similarity in the offers made me suspicious. I was able to secure significantly lower quotes from other moving companies on my own. UrbanBound's "partnership" seems to translate to inflated prices for the end-user.

Finally, the consultants I interacted with were unhelpful, unenthusiastic, and difficult to work with. Instead of providing solutions, they consistently referred me elsewhere. For even the simplest requests, their response was invariably, "Contact your HR about that." It felt like they were actively avoiding providing any real support. They have a couple of great tools that are helpful for new hires. One is an employee survey that provides insights based on real employees' experiences during their own moves to our location, and the other is a neighborhood finding tool that provides stats and information about specific areas within the major metro area.

Reporting has also greatly improved over time and the best thing is the UI experience for the new hires. Easy to request reimbursements, easy approval process, and quick payback to employees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is a bit of a push to use Urban Bound approved realtors. For moving services, it makes sense because of the vetting process (a positive) but sometimes people want to use their own realtors or are able to get local moving companies to reply faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Like other reviews had indicated, the portal was rarely used for interaction. The moving consultant appeared to work completely independently. The prices I was quoted from their vendors were highly inflated and unrealistic in terms of requirements, compared to independent quotes I got from other sources. It was not unusual to see quotes as high as three times that of what independent moving companies were offering me.

In addition, the moving consultant did not appear to do any work. Beyond the initial contact with the moving companies, Urbanbound did no action to facilitate the move. I had to go through all the legwork of calling these vendors and negotiating my needs while I was also busy at work after putting in my two weeks notice. The process should have involved me providing a list of my possessions to Urbanbound and they should have gone through the legwork to find movers within the given price range, but everything was done myself.
