I like that it streamlines my fundraising activities and investor communications. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** Anything I've disliked or had problems with have been addressed by the Update Capital team. They are working with me now on a solution to co-branding my investment opportunities. I had some technical issues when I first on-boarded that they were able to solve right away. If I have any problems or suggestions they are very attentive and take the time to understand what I need. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** First and foremost they've allowed me to go completely paperless in my investor communications. Its very important to me that the investors are able to view their returns and distributions and receive professional looking updates on their investments. Because I have different strategic partners on each opportunity, they're currently helping to figure out how I can co-brand those opportunities. So far I've been very pleased with all of their solutions. ### 2. I am not in the UC system (working with our investors) every day so I sometimes need a reminder of how to do something. When I call or send an email, the UC Support team quickly responds with an answer, a link to an article, or video that provides the info. Sometimes they will even record a quick video that shows the clicks for how to do something. This helps me get done what I need to get done so I can serve my investors. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** I would not call it a dislike but the only comment I would mention is that it would be great if the UC Support line would pick up with a live operator. Certainly, that is not likely as the world shifts more and more toward self-service. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are tracking and managing our equity raise process with Update Capital. (Now that we've completed our most recent acquisition, we're getting ready to leverage additional features of Update Capital.) In the equity raise process, Update Capital's integration with DocuSign is a HUGE benefit. This presents a highly professional image for our investors. ### 3. The onboarding process was thorough and very helpful. Once the onboarding was complete, having the investor portal plug-in on my site makes it look very professional. This is the area where I direct all investors to obtain their documents. Update Capital is also continually adding features and the knowledge base of videos on these features is great. The support techs are also always available by phone and very knowledgeable. I found that this decreased the time it took to get up to speed on the program. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** I have found that I still need to use a separate CRM system. I was hoping to have that incorporated with UC but the functionality isn't there. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** The Update Capital portal helps with keeping investors and applicable documents organized and marketing new offerings. I also communicate with investors and prospective investors with the newsletter feature which I use for monthly newsletters. ### 4. They can take a look whenever they like, as frequently as they prefer. If they haven’t been keeping up with a development project, they can log in and get caught up on everything that’s happened and know just where things stand. Furthermore, every time we send something out, we can see how many investors opened the email, how many of them logged in, everything. We get information about how they are engaging, and that’s very helpful. The Update Capital team is very attentive. If we're looking for a feature that’s not available, they always say, “Let’s see if we can add that for you”’ In the beginning, we needed a lot of customization and Update Capital was always happy to work with us. They are very receptive and responsive to feedback. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** We do not see any downsides and have not had any issues with the software. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** Though our firm had expanded significantly since its beginnings, our reporting process had not kept pace. We were still emailing out individual PDFs to investors, and we needed a way to offer more comprehensive, convenient information to investors than our monthly reports were able to provide. Update Capital fit the bill perfectly. The Update Capital software also works as a great CRM tool. As we consider new investments and development opportunities, Update Capital is a great tool to evaluate potential investor interest and helps us determine whether institutional partners or individual investors are the best fit for a particular project. In addition to providing information about upcoming opportunities to existing investors, the portal operates as a marketing tool, advertising our upcoming projects to potential investors, and growing our firm’s investor base. ### 5. Although, some users have a tough time getting to the Investments tab from the marketing emails we send out. Could be more of a lack of technology know how on their part though. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are solving the ability to market investment opportunities while also providing updates and tracking for our investors on their current investments all in one place. It gives us a very professional look, with the ease of having everything in one platform. ### 6. The implementation process was easy as well. Many people would not like to start another program but it only took us a few days to get up and running. The system will e-mail out to all clients including reporting, communications and tax documents all in a secure manner. The best feature is that you can easily see which investments each investor has at your fingertips, including charts and graphs of data. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** Sometimes the users have trouble with updating their own password but as an admin, I ask them for their desired password and set it for them. The Update Capital software is sleek, professional, and simple for both our investors and our admins to use. Everything our investors need can be found on the investor dashboard. No more emails and phone calls from investors trying to locate a missing report or tax form in a crowded inbox. 2. The Actions feature allows us to automatically walk investors through the signing process on new deals, confirm that they have read important messages, and keep their contact information up to date. 3. I love the additional security features for sensitive documents such as K-1s. 4. Update Capital’s customer service is top-notch. The team is very responsive to questions and feedback and goes above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** I’ve yet to find something I don’t like about the Update Capital software, however we haven't used the Current Opportunity feature or the CRM integration. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** Update Capital saves us hours every month. Prior to using the platform, we used spreadsheets to compile data and individually emailed reports to investors. In addition to being time-consuming, the result was also unprofessional. We can now view investment information at a glance and send out high-quality reports and communications to hundreds of investors with just a few clicks. The platform reduces embarrassing errors, protects our investors’ personal data, and even makes tax time a breeze. ### 8. Any time I have made an error in my source documentation (email address or name mismatch), the software recognizes the error and recommends the fix. So far the recommendations have always been correct and these bulk uploads have saved me significant data-entry time. I also have enjoyed the newsletter feature that customizes the investment updates into one email for our investors so that an investor in 4 assets will receive one email related to only those four assets. **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** Update Capital has address my biggest concern which related to gathering investor information and signatures electronically; their recent syncing with DocuSign has made this process very convenient for our investors. **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** Update Capital allows our investors to review their history and status and find any misplaced documents without having to call us. ### 9. We have been able to streamline our back-office procedures, link to our CRM reporting functionality and ensure our data is all in one secure place! **What do you dislike about Update Capital?** Some of the functionality is not there yet (in comparison to other providers), but they are constantly improving, and quickly! **What problems is Update Capital solving and how is that benefiting you?** We were previously emailing documents and now we send them straight from the portal, through DocuSign for signature, with an instant upload to the investors portal account.
