Universal Checkout API Reviews & Product Details

Rye Universal Checkout API is an agentic commerce infrastructure API built by Rye that enables AI agents and applications to complete purchases on any online store without redirecting users to external checkout pages. Developers submit a product URL and buyer details through a single API call, and Rye handles the full transaction lifecycle — including product validation, shipping selection, tax calculation, automatic promo code discovery, and secure order submission. Merchants retain merchant-of-record status throughout, keeping chargeback liability, tax obligations, and compliance burden off the developer. The API abstracts the complexity of transacting across a fragmented e-commerce landscape through a minimal three-endpoint surface: create a checkout intent, poll for offer resolution, and confirm the order. Under the hood, Rye uses direct integrations for major platforms like Amazon (99% reliability, 5-second checkout latency) and Shopify (96% reliability, 20-second checkout latency), with intelligent browser automation as a fallback for any other merchant with a public product page. Payment data is fully tokenized — developers never handle raw card data, reducing PCI DSS compliance scope to the lightest self-assessment category. SDKs are available for JavaScript, Python, and cURL, and the API is backed by a 99.9% monthly uptime commitment. Rye Universal Checkout API is built for developers creating AI shopping agents, conversational commerce experiences, and automated purchasing workflows that need to transact across the open web — not just within walled-garden marketplaces or protocol-partnered merchants. By providing true any-merchant checkout coverage with built-in fraud mitigation, landed-cost resolution including real shipping and tax, and self-healing checkout flows that adapt when merchant pages change, Rye eliminates the need for teams to build and maintain per-merchant integrations. The result is a single integration that turns product discovery into completed transactions at scale.
