I like Typinator because it's a reasonably priced utility that is massively useful. I use it to abbreviate and automate repetitive phrases, greetings, expressions and salutations in my emails, reports, email, and comments, which saves me time as I can key entire paragraphs with just a few keystrokes. What I value the most is that I can easily create new phrases, sentences, or even paragraphs and tie a keyword to them; the program doesn't have a big learning curve. My one and only complaint is that my previous just suddenly stopped working one day — no warning that the license had expired. This distressed me. I left a comment with the developer (Thomas) on his website, and he got back to me to explain the new pricing structure. So I bought a new license. I like supporting small developers. I use Typinator at work because it streamlines my repetitive writing tasks. I only have to type short abbreviations and it completes them with the full text template, making me more efficient. I like that it works across all systems, which is helpful because I don't have to worry about compatibility. I love that it has a companion app for the mobile phone, so I can use it when replying to emails on my phone. The templates expand perfectly in all apps and systems. I use Typinator to add the date to my emails, greetings and sign-offs just with a few keystrokes instead of typing the whole thing. It also helps me add my signature to documents and insert smiley faces without going to the emoji menu. One feature I enjoy is that Typinator corrects when I accidentally have two capitals at the beginning of a word, which happens if I forget to release the shift key quickly enough. This feature saves me from having to go back and retype the second letter in lowercase. I realize there's a lot more I could do with Typinator just by looking through all those set lists. I struggled with transferring Typinator to a new computer. I couldn't get it to work when I copied the files over. It was very difficult to disconnect Typinator from the old computer. I use Typinator for both personal and professional purposes as an editor and copyeditor. I appreciate how it provides accuracy, consistency, and saves me a lot of time. I love the clean look, speed, and the very responsive iOS/iPadOS keyboard. I'm a big fan of assigning prefixes to sets, which was important to me when I migrated from my previous text expansion tool, and it works very well. The excellent import feature impressed me since it allowed me to bring in my previous snippets instead of starting from scratch. I like that Typinator is available across most of my apps. I think having a "All Except" option when you decide on which applications work with which set would be useful. In my case, I don't want the Character Pairs set to be active on the command line (Terminal.app) so having a "All Except Terminal" just for that set would be good. I’ve used Typinator for years, and version 10 is a massive win. The new iOS app is exactly what I needed, having my full library on my iPhone makes mobile emails so much faster. I find Typinator to be a big time saver, especially for filling out forms and entering my email address. It's also quite handy for fixing typos. I think the challenge sometimes is that you don't remember that you have a shortcut for it, and sometimes it would be interesting to see a little help menu. I know you can do the find or search for your abbreviations, but sometimes you just miss that. Or it could suggest that you've selected something in the clipboard, then it could be edited as a Typinator action. I don't like the Apple subscription model. I think it's too pricey for something that the product offers. I was a little bit disappointed when I bought version nine that very quickly afterwards version 10 came out, and then now they were asking again for a subscription price. I have been using Typinator almost as long as the program has been available. It has continued to serve me well. Updates and new features are released in a timely manner, but not so often as to be annoying.
