"Great tool for simple planning"

What do you like best about Tom's Planner?

Simplicity in usage - no complicated connections, you can do anything you want just clicking on what you need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tom's Planner?

No synchronizations with third parties - I can't sync with Jira, for instance, or can't set up a notification, or a connection to Google sheet. I can do that once by migrating, by this won't work if I need it to work all the time. But I guess that's my problem - not Tom's, cause this maybe just not the tool that was supposed to be very integrated and auto-updated. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tom's Planner solving and how is that benefiting you?

I am managing the ongoing team's tasks, basically, I use it to give myself a top-level overview of what's going on, and to plan the following week/month. The best thing about how it works is that I can put several time blocks in a row, which is typically not possible in classic Gannt chart Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Everything kept simple and easy to use"

What do you like best about Tom's Planner?

The simplicity. I could pick up and use straight away without thinking about it and anything that I wasn't sure about I managed to work out pretty quickly. It was just such and under complicated way of tracking projects compared to other tools I had used in the past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tom's Planner?

To be fair I can't remember disliking anything when using it. There wasn't anything I needed to do that it wouldn't let me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tom's Planner:

Do it! Whether the free version or paid. The paid version is still pretty cheap anyway and the simplicity of the tool makes it worthwhile but most people can probably get what you need from the free version anyway. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Tom's Planner?

It is a light and fast software with features of project templates that help me make the work easier. Tom Planner allows me to access from my table or mobile without complications also has an interface with unique design, I like it because when I'm not in my office I just have to take the Tablet and be aware of the tasks that I have pending easily and fun . What do you dislike about Tom's Planner?

I would like the interface to be able to choose different topics such as light, dark or even colors, since I like to have a view with a dark background and clear letters allowing me to observe and highlight the work spaces Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Tom's Planner solving and how is that benefiting you?

There have always been problems in organizing a large number of programs in a more organized way in our company. With the help of this software I can organize the tasks / projects and schedule meetings to move them on the most convenient date so that my colleagues do not miss. What do you like best about Tom's Planner?

That they don't overcomplicate the process. I have used things like Project and it is way too detailed for the vast majority of projects/things that most people need to manage. Also nice that it's free up to a certain level. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Decent Gannt chart tool let down by its UX"

What do you like best about Tom's Planner?

Tom's Planner can represent a Gannt chart well, with periods of time and dependencies, with customization options like colors and icons. It also has different views based on lengths of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tom's Planner?

Tom's Planner is completely outclassed by other more full-featured tools like Smartsheet in that it doesn't have resources, more simplified or more complex views. The process of spinning up an initial chart is time-consuming, and the only way to do that quickly is to copy another project or make your own "template" of frequently-used project types. Budgeting and risk assessment are also noticeably missing from the feature set.

Tom's Planner's user experience and user interface are also awkward. The tool feels like it was developed a decade ago, perhaps as standalone software that was reformatted to live within a web browser. In the four years that we've used the tool, there has been no improvement on the user interface at all. Dependencies were just added a couple of years ago, so it worries me that the tool is just not being kept up as much as it probably should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Tom's Planner:

Look at all the other Gannt-charting tools available. This one does simple charts well, but if you want any more complexity, you'd be better served by another tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Tom's Planner?

The user interface is a bit dated and some of the controls are clunky, particularly in the areas of printing. I also did not enjoy that only one user could be editing a document at any time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are a lot of products and solutions out there for project planning. If all you need is a simple way to product Gantt carts without a lot of frills, Toms Planner is hard to beat. We needed a cost-effective and user friendly solution to plot out a huge rebranding and marketing effort for a large client. With this product, multiple users were able to access the same file to view or edit, based on their permission level. We were able to quickly visualize and plan out each phase of the project without having to juggle multiple versions of the same file or purchase a lot of expensive software.
