I have cut my teeth on The Events Calendar plugin using it on a client's website who needed a lot of what the plugin offers, but they also do not need a lot of what the plugin offers. The upside of The Events Calendar plugin is that, with some of its addons, it is a real event management system that includes everything you need when you want to show events on your WordPress site. The main downside of The Events Calendar plugin is that what I consider basic functionality isn’t available unless you pay for their add-ons. Features like recurring events, a weekly list view, calendar shortcodes, custom event fields, basic front-end filtering, venue/organizer pages, the ability to duplicate events and searching by location aren’t included unless you upgrade and pay. Without those things, it doesn’t feel like a complete events management system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
