Many Basic Features Locked Behind Paid Add-Ons in The Events Calendar
I have cut my teeth on The Events Calendar plugin using it on a client's website who needed a lot of what the plugin offers, but they also do not need a lot of what the plugin offers. The upside of The Events Calendar plugin is that, with some of its addons, it is a real event management system that includes everything you need when you want to show events on your WordPress site.

It is a flexible and easy to use calendar plug in. There are still some enhancements it could make, but it is the best one I could find.
