"Tax.com: Advanced, Customizable Features with Accurate, Reliable Outputs"
5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

Tax.com is a highly advanced application that offers a wide range of features and functionalities. It enables us to customize processes based on our requirements and generate accurate, reliable outputs in the desired format. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

I observed that under the Subjects tab, the collector addresses available in the Address Book are not always up to date. As a result, we are required to manually verify and update the addresses during processing. Keeping the collector address information current would reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and save a significant amount of time.

Additionally, we noticed that certain options and functionalities are currently unavailable within the Reports section. Enhancing the reporting capabilities by providing additional options would help us generate reports more efficiently and customize the output based on our requirements. "Faster, Reliable Web-Based Platform for End-to-End Property Tax Management"
4/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I primarily use OPT Property Tax within tax.com, and one of the things I like most is that it is web-based. Compared with the earlier setup, it feels faster, more reliable, and easier to work with. I also like that when I start a larger process, it can continue running even if my internet connection is interrupted, which is very helpful.

The Workflow Center is useful for processing and managing documents across our clients, and the import process is fairly straightforward and works well. Maintaining account information in Tax Center and asset details in Asset Center is also organized and easy to manage. Return preparation has improved a lot and feels more reliable now, especially with the forms being closer to what assessors expect and accept. Maintaining tables, payee information, and mailing addresses is also helpful for our day-to-day property tax work.

From an integration standpoint, most of my experience is with importing and exporting data between OPT and the files we use for our property tax processes. That works well for our needs, although I have limited experience with any direct integrations between OPT and other systems.

Support has also been a positive experience. Whenever I run into an issue and raise a support ticket, I generally receive a quick response and the team is helpful in working through the problem.

I am not directly involved in the pricing or licensing side, so I cannot comment much on pricing or ROI from a cost perspective. From an operational standpoint, though, having the account, asset, return, notice, tax bill, and related property tax information maintained within the same platform is valuable for our work.

AI capabilities are not currently a major part of the OPT Property Tax functionality that I use. This is one area where I would like to see more development in the future, particularly intelligent automation that could make some of the repetitive property tax processes easier.

Overall, the performance of the web-based platform has been good, and OPT provides a reliable place to manage most parts of the property tax process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

I primarily use OPT Property Tax within tax.com, and overall the product has improved a lot, but there are still a few areas where I think the user experience could be better.

One concern is system availability and performance during busy filing seasons. There are times when the servers become unavailable or access is limited, and during peak season this can create a real challenge because teams are working against filing deadlines.

I would also like to see some additional flexibility in return preparation. For example, it would be helpful if users could attach a specific document and choose whether it should appear at the beginning or end of the generated return package. This could be useful for documents such as an LOA, mailing address change letter, or other information that needs to be provided to the assessor along with the return.

Workflow Center could also be more interactive and provide reviewers with more information. For example, it would be helpful to see directly whether certain assessment-related flags are checked. Also, when reviewing documents, the user currently cannot easily put one document on hold and move to the next one without verifying the current document. Having an option to hold or skip a document temporarily would make the review process more flexible.

There are also some areas where forms and depreciation tables could continue to improve. I have seen certain forms missing for states such as South Carolina and Indiana, and it would be helpful if the depreciation tables were updated each year to align as closely as possible with the assessor-provided tables.

Another issue I have noticed is with exporting grid data to Excel. For example, under New Assessment in Subjects, estimated assessment mail dates or estimated appeal deadlines may be visible in the grid, but those values can sometimes come through blank when the data is exported to Excel. It would be helpful if all values visible in the application were consistently included in the export.

I have also seen smaller output issues in the past. For example, the check request text file previously did not include the Address 3 field. That issue was raised with support and was corrected, which was appreciated.

Finally, I would like to see more AI and intelligent automation added to OPT Property Tax over time. There are many repetitive property tax processes where additional automation could make the system even more useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, Transparent Global Tax Workflow That Stays Ahead of Regulatory Changes"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I like knowing exactly who did what, when, and why within a global tax workflow, because it gives me peace of mind. I also appreciate how fast the process is. Regulations in our region can change from one day to the next, and having tax.com is excellent because it stays up to date with international regulatory changes, saving me hours of research. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

The only thing I didn’t like was that when I had to work with older or customized technology structures from local subsidiaries, synchronization sometimes became complicated and required internal engineering work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient Tax Management with Customizable Alerts"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I use Tax.com for scenario analysis, auditing, and report generation, and I find it improves the bulk management of tax data and works well for me. I liked the real-time alerts because they notify me of changes to local regulations or filing deadlines, which is really helpful. The reconciliation engine is another feature I appreciated, as it allows for the automatic cross-referencing of accounting records with current tax regulations. Also, I remember the initial setup being easy, which is always a bonus. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

I don't like how tax.com requires me to adapt my report format to its own structure. It's frustrating because the format I need isn't available in their standard template, which doesn't work well for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automated Tax Compliance That Saves Us Days Each Month"
5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

It basically eliminated the need for us to hire someone to be solely responsible for tax issues. States continually change their tax regulations and tax.com will simply update the percentage values for each state. It allows us to file our returns electronically so we don’t incur unnecessary penalty fees. We utilize it to track customers’ exemption certificates all within one area. Manually performing these tasks previously consumed several days of my employees' time per month. Essentially, tax.com performs most of the tedious duties involved with compliance so we do not have to give them any thought. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

Trying to contact customer support is absolutely pointless. You submit a ticket and then after waiting approximately 5 days you receive an automated response that doesn’t address the issue you submitted a ticket about. They even incorrectly listed the Texas State Tax Rate on our last return and the numbers did not match what was reported through our reporting system. I’ve heard they make it extremely difficult to cancel service and continue to pull ACH payments; therefore, I constantly monitor my banking activity to ensure that no unauthorized charges occur. Trying to map our products to the correct tax code is frustrating and takes far too long. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Dependable HR Management with Stellar Support"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I love how tax.com allows me to create custom fields and keep dormant holdings organized. The layout is intuitive and the reporting tools are pleasurable to use. Their support team is incredibly patient and methodical, offering guidance through calls or emails, and walking me through processes at my own pace. The webinars are valuable, and I'm impressed by how suggestions I've made in the past were implemented in later releases. The initial setup was refreshingly straightforward, particularly with our entity-based fields. Plus, exporting to a spreadsheet is quick, allowing me to reconcile records across separate systems efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

Searching by name within the system is less intuitive than I would like. It's a minor quibble. I also wish for built-in reminders to flag holdings as they approach their dormancy threshold, and a lightweight way to import records directly from our payroll system to reduce manual entry and prevent any final settlement or reimbursement from slipping through while our systems aren't fully integrated. "Accurate Tax Calculation with Minor Integration Hurdles"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I like the address-level rate determination feature, which is the whole reason we chose tax.com. ZIP codes just don't cut it for us since our mobile service often crosses municipal boundaries. tax.com solving this issue means there's no more guessing about rates, and the GPS location detection ensures accurate calculations. The specific taxability rules for pet services are well-handled too, considering grooming is taxable in some states but not others. I also appreciate the convenience of online tax payment. It saves us from the hassle of writing checks and making manual bank deposits, and it makes documentation so much easier. I don't have to manually search for latest tax rates on the Internet. Everything is predetermined, which makes the process smooth and reliable, reducing my workload significantly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

I find it frustrating that our booking software was not supported for integration with tax.com. We had to pay for a custom connector, which took about a month to develop and ended up costing more than we had budgeted. It would be great if there were easier integration options, especially for those using niche or less popular software platforms so we could avoid the time and expense of a custom solution. "Automated Tax Management with Room for Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

I enjoy using tax.com's automated consumer use tax engine features. I also like the municipal license calendars, which show all upcoming city business license renewal dates and local gross receipt tax deadlines clearly in one central dashboard. This centralization means I don't have to keep checking different software to keep up with license renewal dates. What I like the most is the centralized digital license repository, as it makes storing active business license certificates electronic and easy for local branch managers to print and display required licenses quickly, saving time. Additionally, the automated consumer use tax engine accurately handles vendor AP invoices against local tax rules, ensuring accurate use tax self-assessment. The onboarding specialists helped us map tax codes for our general ledger accounts, and once integration and license calendar were configured, our monthly consumer use tax reviews and annual license renewals became much less stressful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

I think tax.com could improve in a few areas. One issue is with the slow address validation for new locations when we open a new retail location. This can be somewhat frustrating as it's important to have these forms processed quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Online Access and Seamless Number Pulls That Simplify Tax Prep"
5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

It allows me to lose my mind a little less while tracking a million different spreadsheets for my clients. Everything is now online so I can access it anywhere. Tax.com will pull the numbers directly from my other accounting software so I'm not having my employees copy information manually and make errors doing the math. It gets the job done without requiring me to call my IT person to repair my computer every week. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

The cost of each return adds up quickly and it pisses me off. You think it's affordable until you've got a bill to pay to the government in April. Customer service is almost non-existent if/when you're unable to figure something out. They seem completely clueless as to how a tax form works. Trying to locate where to click for specific State election forms is an absolute nightmare. There is one button that is buried so far down that you'll need to scroll for what feels like hours to try to find it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy-to-Navigate UI and a Reliable Daily Database Experience"
4.5/5
What do you like best about tax.com?

The user interface is easy to navigate. I work in OPT which is property tax specific. I use the database daily and have had great experiences thus far. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about tax.com?

The website can be slow at times. I use OPT to research property tax at the parcel level, and it sometimes takes a while to move from one parcel to the next using the search bars. That’s my only real complaint. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
