The computer version is blocked by our district's pop-up blocker for some reason so I cant always access on my school computer. I think it would be helpful to have students also recieving the messages, but I haven't tried adding them to my database. I have had more communication with parents and more engagement with families since using Talking Points. Another, and perhaps the best, thing I like best about Talking Points is that it allows you to communicate with parents/guardians in any language. This breaks many barriers and fosters conversations and communication that may not always be accesible. **What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?** What I dislike about Talking Points is that it pulls numbers from your SIS - sometimes those numbers are incorrect and the message fails. I would like to receive a notification that the message has failed rather than go back into the message itself to see it. I want to know right away - sometimes it takes time to see where it says message failed but says sent right away. **Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:** Be sure to use simple language (i.e. no idioms, figures of speech, abbreviations, etc.) so it can be translated easily. Also, I would recommend verifying the contact information used so that you are sending to the right number - SIS is not always a reliable source for contact information. **What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?** The problems solved with Talking Points are that we, as teachers, are able to communicate with our students' parents/guardians in any language. We can reach out about grades, behavior, attendance, etc. It truly breaks barriers and is an innovative service. The benefits I have realized are that it is appreciated by all involved. Parents/guardians feel more connected and included and teachers can effectively communicate with them - all which benefits students. ### 50. I also appreciate that it will convert the output into the language needed by the viewers on the other end. **What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?** Drawbacks include parents need to opt in to the system, so there is no guarantee you are reaching every family.
