Talent pool claims are easy to make and hard to check, so I used the two adoption signals G2 surfaces for <a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/categories/freelance-platforms">freelance platforms</a>: the size and recency of each platform's review base, and what reviewers on both sides say about how busy the marketplace feels. Ranked by that evidence, here's what stood out:</p><ul>

<a class="a a--md" elv="true" href="https://www.g2.com/products/upwork/reviews"><strong>Upwork</strong></a> (4.5/5.0, 3,206 reviews): The largest review base in the category by a factor of six, and the adoption signal cuts both ways: buyers describe deep candidate pools across specialties, while freelancers describe competition fierce enough that standing out is the hard part. Clients posting daily across skill sets is a recurring theme.</li>

&lt;p&gt;The adoption vs quality tension is real and I&#39;d add a third variable: how well the platform surfaces signal. A huge pool with poor filtering is harder to use than a curated one even if the talent is technically there.&lt;/p&gt;
