## TalkingPoints Reviews
  ### 1. Talking Points is an easy way to communicate with all of your families in any language.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tricia K. | Teacher of English Learners K-12, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

TP allows me to send a message to all of the families that I work with in their native language. Families are able to revert back to my original message in English if needed and respond to me using any language. I can include family members that live near or are in their home countries so that all parents are involved in the education and I don't have to use my own cell number!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I shared with one family in Russian who reported that the Russian translation did not translate the correct message at all. I haven't had that issue with other languages. I am able to share my class list with coworkers, but they are not able to edit student information. Because multiple interpreters or secretaries may interact with the same family it would be helpful for any of those ppl to make the needed corrections to family members or phone numbers.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TP allows me to communicate more seamlessly with all families without using my cellphone. The messages go to an app on my phone and my work email so that I don't miss a message.

  ### 2. Great way to contact hard to reach parents

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dimitria W. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 25, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that Talking Points makes it possible to send messages to parents in English and Spanish.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I have not found anything I do not like as of yet, this is my first time using it.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Contacting hard to reach parents or those that do not look in the grading app for messages about their students.

  ### 3. Great Way to Bridge Communication Gaps!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Katie M. | School counselor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Ability to text parents while protecting my personal information. So many parents avoid answering when they see the school call, so text is a great way to make contact. (Because they are used to avoiding admin, but willing to talk to a counselor.)

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Having to set up a contact every time I need to send a message. As a counselor with a caseload of 500, it's a lot! It would be great if there was a quick-response option.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps contact parents who avoid answering when they see the school number in the caller ID. They will respond to me as the counselor, though. Also, it helps me contact parents who are non-English speakers.

  ### 4. I like it

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lora B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 23, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The translation portion for my non-English speaking parents.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Not knowing if the message was read and/or received.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with parents of students and building those relationships.

  ### 5. Excellent and efficient communication with parents and students.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lauree I. | teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Texting is quick, easy and very accessible to the parents even while they are at work.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I don't have any dislikes-unless you consider that you aren't speaking to the person on the phone.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reaching parents and students at a variety of times during the day without playing phone tag is a big plus!

  ### 6. TalkingPoints is 10/10!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love how easy it is to communicate with parents. All too often emails get lost, ignored, etc. love that TP goes straight as a text if parents don't have the app!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I do not like that the teachers have read receipts turned on. While we should know whether a parent has seen our message, they don't need to know exactly when we read theirs because I don't always respond right away:)

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes communication so easy. All admin has access to parent talking points messages, so we are all able to be on the same page when it comes to what's been sent. Further, you can send whole class announcements or private, personal messsges. I think it is SO much easier than email, Dojo, etc.

  ### 7. Very useful app

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexandra L. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I’ve been using Talking points for 2 years now and it has been extremely helpful for keeping in contact with my students’ families. I’ve been recommending it to all my colleagues.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

No dislikes with this app. Everything works great

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It allows me to communicate with families in their home language.

  ### 8. Wonderful communication tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sandy W. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love how easy TalkingPoints is to use, and how it translates into the native language of the recipient (or whatever they choose). I love how messages can be scheduled, and when it suggests I am using language that is too difficult for some recipients.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I haven't found a downside of Talking Points!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes communicating with families so much easier!! It has strengthened our teacher-parent relationships, which overall is best for the students!

  ### 9. I use TP all the time!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 08, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I can send individual or group messages to all of my families. It is possible to personalize with names and home languages. I do not have to use a translating service to communicate.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Names and phone numbers come from the database (positive- easy, I no longer have to key in all of the information) so I cannot make changes - like uncapitalize the entire name, or change a contact number used.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can quickly send a note to all my families updating them about school events, upcoming tests, end of the grading cycle. Saves me time - I would not be able to contact everyone otherwise.

  ### 10. Fantastic Family Service

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Colleen O. | school nurse, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking Points helps me keep in contact with families with the languages they are most comfortable with.
This makes them, and I, feel heard and understood.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Sometimes the families do not receive the messages. I have had them in my office and we tested it. The did not get the notification or text.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Text is translated for me without me trying to see if it is in the proper context.

  ### 11. Great resource for communicating with multilingual families

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donnetta B. | Supevisor of Multilingual Learners, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking points is a great app! It allows everyone in schools (teachers, nurses, secretaries, counselors, etc) to communicate important information to parents of multilingual learners and know that their message is being understood by the caregiver. It also allows the parents to respond back to school personnel and not fear that their message is not being communicated because of a language barrier. I have had numerous parents thank me for "texting" them in their native language. This has been the first time that many of them have ever felt understood and have felt encouraged to respond to the staff at school about their child. The instant connection that occurs when parents feel connected to the school is priceless. Thank you Talkingpts!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

There is nothing that I dislike about TalkingPts.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

You will never regret being able to communicate without worry with the caregivers of your students.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm not sure what they are working on but I'm sure it will be great.

  ### 12. Invaluable Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Emma C. | Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

TalkingPoints is an amazing app. It allows me to communicate with parents of my ELL students in a convenient and accessible way. This is an invaluable tool for Home to school communication.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I wish I could see how it looks from the parent perspective.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's off the problem of having a communication barrier between families at home who do not speak English and school staff that need to communicate important information. It benefits the students directly.

  ### 13. Best app for communicating

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Laura B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I can keep my students parents up to date with ease

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I like it all. I haven't found a feature I dislike

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communicating with parents

  ### 14. Great App

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dean M. | chemistry teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The best part about this app is the creators have made it easy to communicate with parents that speak a different language other than the language that is spoken at school. Also, this makes it easy for the teacher to quickly message a parent because the correct information is already populated. Plus it's all in one place so you don't have a super busy email inbox. This will cut down on those messages (school colleagues vs parents) that get overlooked because of a busy inbox in your email account.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I have not found anything about this app that I dislike yet.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

This app is a better way to communicate with parents rather than using your email and definitely better than a phone call.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints translates into the different languages that are spoken at home. You don't have to search the building for a colleague that speaks a certain language and get them to translate for you. It's all here in TalkingPoints. I also love the "help me understand" button that will send a message to a human translator for additional tweaks to the message.

  ### 15. A Teacher's friend!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** HattieRose M. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 17, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that I can connect with my student's parents with a quick text! Even if they do not have the app, it will still send them a regular text to their cellphone! I love that feature!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

That I am unable to contact any of the parents once school is out for the summer. It's like there was a specific date programed for me to stop having contact with parents! I dislike this feature.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

This is a great tool to use to contact people! It is just like texting! Having the app on my phone allows me to send or receive a message anywhere I go!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Talking points solves the problem of having parents coming in person to see me for something minor. It allows the parents to receive a message from the teacher immediately! That is beneficial to me because sometimes I need a response from a parent immediately for a student's behavior or if the student gets hurt or becomes ill. It's really a great tool that is very beneficial to me as a teacher!

  ### 16. Fantastic Communication Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary S. | Legal Assistant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

With TalkingPoints, I am able to communicate effectively with my EL students' parents. I love that it sends messages in their primary language and they are able to respond in their primary language while TalkingPoints translates the messages for us. It also helps that it sends the messages as text as opposed to email, so they are seen and responded to much more quickly.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

There are no downsides to TalkingPoints. The only thing I would like added is to know if the message has been read or not by those to whom I send it. If I do not receive a response, I do not know if the parents saw my message.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

I highly recommend using TalkingPoints to those who need to communicate frequently and effectively, particularly those working in education.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints is solving many problems for me and my students' parents in that they are able to understand the information I send regarding school updates and announcements as well as feel comfortable in messaging me any time they have a question or concern.

  ### 17. Ease of Talking Points

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bryan W. | 10 Grade History Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

What I like the best about Talking Points is how incredibly easy it is to set up and use. I have a large group of Spanish-speaking parents in my classes and Talking Points allows me to communicate with them with so much ease. Before I would have to try and find someone who spoke Spanish on our staff and translate what I was saying, but now that isn't needed. I can't recommend Talking Points enough!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Truthfully there really isn't anything to dislike about this app. Everything is easy to use and it's free allowing for useful communication between you and your student's parents.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem that it is solving for me is the language barrier that stood in the way when it came to communicating with my student's parents. Before I would have to try and find someone who spoke Spanish on our staff and translate what I was saying, but now that isn't needed. I can't recommend Talking Points enough!

  ### 18. Great way to connect with families or students!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kendra L. | 7/8 Grade Math Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I have not tried this in the classroom yet, but I piloted it by myself. I was able to send myself a text message quickly in English and it automatically translated it to Spanish.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The initial setup might take a bit of time, but I will be able to find a way to streamline it with a spreadsheet with my students' families' contact information. Maybe there is a way to do this but I would also like to be able to assign multiple caregivers to the same student.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Consider how you can use it to communicate with families or students over 13. Put everything in a spreadsheet so you can easily upload the contact information.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints will help me connect with families quickly and efficiently without sharing my personal information or cell phone number. I can easily text an individual, group, or all of my students.

  ### 19. Great for connecting with MLL familes

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlene L. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The ease of accessibility. I don't have to wait for prep time or after school, I can type a quick message to families during class. I have several students who benefit from knowing that I'm in constant contact with their families. I've been able to send home a lot more positive messages too; families love getting those!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Sometimes the translations are not accurate. I have had the most difficulties with Vietnamese families, their messages back to me don't always make sense. I'm not always sure what my messages to them say, based on the responses I get back.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

As an EL teacher, being able to communicate with families quickly and consistently has made a huge difference. Many of our families like the ease of a text message instead of a phone call or email. This app also makes it easier to send positive messages home without taking so much prep time.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TP saves me so much time and has facilitated a stronger connection with my students' families. I can start a conversation during class and be in contact with families throughout the day, when needed. Class announcements are great for letting families know what is happening in class.

  ### 20. A True 2-Way Communication Tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tyrell A. | Director of Culturally Responsive Instruction, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

What is most impressive about Talking Points is how user-friendly the program is. Both the web version and the app (android or IOS) are very easy to navigate for everyone regardless of how tech-savvy you may be. The other major factor that has contributed to myself as a school leader, and our school staff really adopting using TalkingPoints as the main mode of communication with families is because it truly has bridged communication with our bilingual and trilingual families and community members. The translation feature is invaluable. Plus, we have received feedback from parents that the translated text is much closer to authentic communication in their language than simply using Google Translate or another tool. Finally, the use of text messaging and translation has made families feel more comfortable communicating with school staff because of the convenience and accessibility.

TalkingPoints has elevated our communication beyond mailers, voicemails, and emails. The response rate from families has increased by 30-40% with the use of TalkingPoints.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The only concern that we've experienced is hearing from some families that they are not receiving our TalkingPoints messages if they do not have the app downloaded. It is hard to determine what the cause of that issue may be.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ultimately, my school serves a very diverse community and as school staff, we are continuously looking to be culturally responsive to the needs of our students and families. With that being said, we are still having an issue with there being a language barrier for communication. We have access to translators, however, this requires a scheduled appointment. Most times, families have immediate concerns that they would like to address quickly. TalkingPoints has decreased the barrier to communication via languages other than English.

  ### 21. TalkingPoints user

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kathleen L. | Classroom teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that with Takking Points I am able to type one message to my families and regardless of their home language it will translate it as long as they have it set up. Families can also type in their home language and it will translate to English for me. It's so wonderful

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The only thing that I could say is that sometimes those "tips" pop up while I am just trying to get my message done. It can just hinder the process. I really don't think you could improve it much more.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints allows all families to have a voice in their child's education. It allows me to make quick (& light) communication with all families and know that there is no language barrier. It is helping us do what is best for the child and allows those families who have a different native language than I to be part of the community

  ### 22. The BEST and easiest way to include parents of all languages in school communications!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Public Relations and Communications | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

sending messages to multiple languages at once
easy to use
sends a text without me giving my number out

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I haven't found anything I dislike yet.
Everything works for me

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Just set it up and try it. You'll love it.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I teach ESOL. My students' parents are often left in the dark because of the language barrier. Not with Talking Points.
I am able to keep student behavior in check

  ### 23. Parent partnerships made easy

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mary L. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that Talking Points automatically translates messages you send to families making it easier for you to reach everyone. It doesn't require you to use the app but I'd available if you prefer. It comes through as a normal text message if not. I also love that I cam see the original message sent if I need to incase there's a spelling error that confuses the translation. I love that I can schedule messages to send automatically, send individual messages, group messages or whole class announcements!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The only downside was when my school started adding my classes for me sometimes things got glitchy.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't had many problems.

  ### 24. Awesome Product very effective

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Candace U. | Special Education teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 23, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Super quick and effective way to reach all my families. It is beneficial and accurate for all our families to receive the same exact accurate information. This way I do not have to do it for each family independently.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Nothing, this allows everyone to receive the information in a quick and timely manner. I do not have any ideas on how this could be improved any more. Talking Points is a game changer for teaching.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

It's effective and you only have to send the message once to more than one family or student. It allows the teacher to focus on more important things like planning and teaching the class.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main benefit is saving time and getting important information to all families. This allows me to focus on other topics. This has increased my productivity and lessened my need to contact each family individually.

  ### 25. AMAZING platform to connect with Multilingual families!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nikki S. | English Learners Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

It is so convenient to be able to connect with families who do not speak fluent English, and even those that do, all in the same place! I find that parents respond quickly because the message is received in the form of a text, and it is easy for them to reply in their native language. The app automatically translates for the teacher and parent, and translation quality is good! If parents use incorrect grammar or spelling, there is a button to have a human translator help with the translation. I have built so many meaningful relationships with my students' parents that would have not been possible without TalkingPoints!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The only down side is that sometimes the translation doesn't work perfectly, but the human translator option helps with this.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving the communication barrier between school staff and families that are not yet fluent in English!

  ### 26. Game-changer for teachers!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julie C. | Kindergarten Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 27, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love using TalkingPoints to connect with my students families. The best part of this app is that it looks and operates as a direct text to families, and can be translated into their home language! I couldn't be more pleased to have an app that helps bridge communication gaps.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Sometimes the translations are not always accurate, but if you submit them for review or copy and paste into your browser you can almost always decipher the original intent of a message. It is few and far between though that a message is unreadable -- this app is a great tool.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I think they're continuously working on their translations, which is helpful as a teacher communicating with many families whose home language is different than what I speak! I am happy that the TalkingPoints team is working to address this.

  ### 27. Breaking down communication barriers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alyssa G. | Student Support Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking Points has opened up communication with my non-English speaking families and has allowed me to serve them in ways I couldn't before. Once the relationship is established, my student's parents can reach out to me anytime with their questions and concerns.
I also like how a PDF of our conversations can be saved and that the doc includes a transcript of both English and the native language of the person I am communicating with.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I have to be careful of how I word things because sometimes the translation doesn't come out as intended. I wish there was a way to check for the authenticity of my message.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One problem that has been resolved is that my ability to have direct communication with parents, eliminates misunderstandings presented by the student. For example, the student might say X about an assignment to the parent, when really parents need to know Y. Talking Points allows me to clarify.

  ### 28. Best way to communicate with parents

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Beth V. | ESOL Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The best part of talking points is the accuracy of the translation. It's easy to use and can be applied to my operating systems.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I don't have any major dislikes. I use it as both a parent and a teacher.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's allowing me to have accurate translations to communicate specific content and at times, very important information... it prevents the miscommunication amongst parents.

  ### 29. Helpful App for translations

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that I can enter my student's information to text and not use my personal phone. It will translate for my parents to make communication much better. I also love that I am able to put in more than one phone number for each student to send messages. Time saver!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

It does not have Chuukese as a language to translate for one of my families at the school that I teach. I would love to see more languages added to the list to communicate with parents.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints helps me send a message in my language and it automatically sends the parents the message in their preferred language. This creates a great opportunity to create success by communication with the parents and students in their preferred language.

  ### 30. Very useful for student/parent interaction

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 21, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The mass amounts of languages to choose from.
I also like the amount of characters you can use to message a parent or student. I also like that it shows you the translation of what you told them in their language.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Sometimes the parents don't download the app or I wish I could see if they saw the message and chose not to respond.
Also the app for talking points works maybe 50% of the time.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Is solving the problem of not being able to communicate with a student's parents when you do not speak the same language. It is also solving the problem of not being able to communicate with the student that is non English speaking.

  ### 31. Likely to recommend TalkingPoints

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Savannah S. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 02, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

What I like the best about TalkingPoints is how easy it is for the parents of my students and me to communicate. I can send a quick message to let them know that school is out, or that a community event is taking place that their family could benefit. It gives me a professional avenue to talk with parents and guardians of my students instead of handing out my personal cell number, which I don't always like to do. This is a safe program that helps me feel more protected.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The only downside to this program isn't really a flaw to the program, more to the users. Users do not check it frequently enough, so sometimes messages can get overlooked. Also, if the school misprograms, the guardians might not be in the correct order. Again, this is no fault of the program. I am just giving insight to errors that might pop up.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me be honest with parents about the behaviors I see in the classroom. It also allows me to communicate with them quickly. If a student has forgotten something important at home, or they have to tryout for a sport after school, I can just shoot the parent a message. It is so easy and quick to use. Very user-friendly.

  ### 32. Easy Set To Up! Grateful for Quick Wins!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Renee M. | Parent Community Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 01, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The instructions to set up a class contact list were very straightforward, love that the copy-past feature worked with no issues on the first try. The Google Sheets template is awesome. The interface and the price point make Talking Points my first choice above other options I've seen. I also love the fact that parents do not need a Talking Points app to engage, they can start out with text messages only. This has helped me in getting responses from families almost immediately after my first message with a Call To Action.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I am not a teacher, but I work exclusively in parent and community engagement. Seeing a parent listed by their child's name & relation is not very helpful to me when messaging (I have to click into details to recall what the parent's name is, but for my role it would be helpful if it went the other way around). The note about adjusting language that may be above a 5th grade reading level is helpful, as I would not have had this same standard in mind when wording my messages before. However, it is very hard to edit and understand where the changes are needed in order to not get that warning again. I wonder if that is a tech issue and the warning does not go away, even if the language has been re-worded appropriately.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

If you have an excel list with parent and student information, it will make data transfer quicker.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our school needs to engage with parents more regularly in a way that suits them, and text is the preferred method. This is an easy way to manage text comms on the desktop, and without needing a work phone (or distributing a personal phone number). It also saves me from having to make individual phone calls. Our goal is to have a forum where under-served families can have more engagement and connection to school staff.

  ### 33. Best way to keep in contact with Parents

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Paige G. | Special Education Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 21, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

It was very easy to use for both myself and the parents I was communicating with on a weekly basis. Theannoucement tool is great for sending out mass messages to all of the student's parents who are registered in my class.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

An easier way to see read recipts, who has seen the message and who has not. As well as more high school friendly automated messages.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Use this program!! It has made my life so much easier! But they still need to make some upgrades to make it more user friendly.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are making it easier to upload the parents information. Having as many students as I do at the beginning of the year I could only upload one contact at a time but now they have improved and I'm able to add every contact in the class at once.

  ### 34. Game changer!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amber S. | Teacher/Assessment Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I am a teacher and over half of my students live in homes where English is not spoken. Before, it would take so much time trying to find a translator or sending home notes. Now, with talking points, I can send messages anytime that I want to that are immediately translated to the designated language. WOW!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

There is not one thing that I dislike about talking points! It has allowed me to build relationships with parents in a way I never thought possible! Thank you so much!

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

If you need to communicate with many languages, or you want the privacy of communicating without using your cell - then this is for you!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TalkingPoints is solving a major communication problem that I had with my students' families. Now, I am able to keep them up to date in real time thanks to TalkingPoints!

  ### 35. Love talking points!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chelsea L. | El specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking points provides ways to communicate to all parents no matter their language. I love the ability to do this on my computer and and phone. And that it tracks my parent engagement.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I wish there was more parent material resources to show parents how to use talking points especially if they are not confidently literate in native language.
I also wish there was a teacher package option where I can get some of the school level perks. Sometimes school will not invest but maybe a teacher wants to be able to.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Use talking points to reach all parents no matter their language. Use it as platform for communication.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Absent parents or hard to reach parents.
Gives parents a voice. Also if parents change numbers they can still access previous messages and things as long as they have the app.
Also we can share documents and videos and pictures 😊

  ### 36. TalkingPoints saved me this year!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa O. | Special Education Paraprofessional, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that TalkingPoints shows whether the message has been read or not after I push send. I can enter all the students' names in my class before I need to send a message so everything is ready for last-minute notes or in case of an emergency.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

At times the translations don't come through making complete sense, but there is a question mark feature right next to the sentence that you can touch. I have pushed that and it has helped a little bit, but not completely. Sometimes I just have to leave it as the response doesn't translate correctly (but I get the big picture) and I am not going to keep messaging the parent of the student the same thing.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Give it a try, you have nothing to save but time....which you can never get back.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is a time-saver for me, I don't need to sit down and have a 10-20 minute translater phone conversation that a simple quick message about a student needing more snacks could have done.
Problems are that translations don't always come out as clear and I need to sit and mess with it to get the notifications on my phone as well as my work computer.

  ### 37. Communication must-have for educators!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jaime R. | School Counseling Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking Points allows educators to communicate with families in a safe space and in their native language, if necessary. Helps to increase communication between school and home.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

There are no downsides. Even if the parent doesn't have the app- it's sends it like a text message.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication issues with parents who speak other languages. Making a safe space to communicate. Allowing parents the ease of responding to a text message rather than checking email or returning phone calls.

  ### 38. Fantastic - increases family communication EASILY!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon W. | SIS and Data Coordinator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 14, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

TalkingPoints ability to quickly and accurately translate text conversations between parents and school staff is a game-changer. This allows our teachers to stay in touch with parents, and eliminates the language barrier. Setup was VERY easy (we used the Clever link option), and they support a few different ways to roster the application.

The best part - teachers required basically no training! It's login with Google and go!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The support has felt slow at responding since we've joined. However, we joined during the start of COVID so I'm sure they've had scaling and capacity issues. I'd also like to see more granular permissions.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Talking points enables us to talk to our student's parents, even if they speak another language at home. This is increasing parental involvement and engagement - both ways as they can text back to our teachers!

  ### 39. Best App available for schools!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Minerva P. | Family Liaison, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 07, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

The most helpful thing about Talking Points is the fact that we can reach all parents regardless of a language difference. It has empowered parents to be more communicative since it is easier to get their point across.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The fact that we can't go back and delete something we accidentally sent out immediately is something I wish we could change.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Not sure. I love this app.

  ### 40. Communicate families via the means they prefer in language they understand? Yes! Count me in!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy S. | Licensed Massage Therapist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Most families prefer communicating by text and now read a much higher percent of my communications. I can add color and visual interest, and include links, and if they prefer email the program will allow them to receive these all via email.

The app cues me if I am not speaking plainly

Families can choose to receive my communications in their language! Wow!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Occasional glitches in delivering announcements. It can be hard to reach support people in a timing that works for me

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Timely, pleasant, and intelligible communication with families from a myriad of backgrounds and languages.

I am much more productive with this app because almost all families read texts and I do not need to repeat information --Everyone is familiar with that what I'm talking about already because they received the text. In addition they might write back a quick question right away, and I can then answer right away.

I have the flexibility to use this on both my phone and my computer

  ### 41. LOVE Talking Points

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Samantha M. | Carthage 6th Grade Math Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 18, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

It has increased my communication with parents. I love that is also allows me to talk directly to my Spanish speaking families. It feels so much more impersonable then talking through a translater. Since I have been using talknig points my behaviors in my classroom have improved.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Honestly, I do not dislike anything about this app. It has kicked one parent out and I have not been able to get them back in. It keeps asking for a classroom code, which I do not have.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

If you are a school teacher, type your parent contacts in google sheets, that way you can share them with other teachers that have the same kids. Then those other teacher dont have to type it all up.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving communication with Spanish speaking families. It is also helping families know what is going on in the math classroom. I love everything about it!

  ### 42. Perfect Communication Tool for Summer School

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashleigh W. | Teacher, Elevate Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 18, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking points allows me to add and invite all families and staff members to the app for summer school. This is very convenient because we are when running a summer program with 8 staff members and 80 students and we all can receive the same communication!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I struggled to get the QR directions to work to invite families. I was successfully able to access the directions but every time I tried to use the QR it would redirect me and tell me to click done to set up the QR, but no done "button" appeared.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Talking points has made communication between multiple staff members, parents and students fast and easy! It saves us from needing to send or forward emails, which allows us more time to focus on our students and our summer program!

  ### 43. Great Tool (with auto translation!)

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Miranda M. | K Classroom Teacher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love how I can schedule notes ahead of time (it helps me forget less!). Want to send a reminder next week...not an issue. Type it up while it's on your mind. Then you can forget.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

They took away the ability to delete announcements. I would love to be able to at least set a time frame and then have them self delete (with warnings). It was nice to have the delete function over winter especially. I would announce delays and closures and if one changed I could delete it to a more accurate announcement.

Please bring it back!!

Second thing; adding other teachers/users would be a nice tool.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

I bet if you try it...you will like it!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are breaking communication barriers. Many of the school families speak a different language than myself. I've been able to quickly and efffectiviely communicate with families using TalkingPoints and not needing to find a translator to assist me.

  ### 44. Talking Points is a MUST for parent engagement!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kristin S. | Reading Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking Points gives instant access to parents. I was shocked at the amount of responses I received within the first five minutes of sending out a class announcement...even from parents whose native language is not English. The translation services and direct messaging through text to parents' phones makes this program stand out from the rest.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Honestly, the only downside to Talking Points is having so much engagement with parents that it is hard to keep up with at times! However, I would rather have that "problem" than the problem of missing parents!

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Give it a try! You will not be disappointed!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to communicate reading scores, grades, and any behavior concerns instantly with parents. I have also been able to quickly communicate good news as well. One student thanked me for getting her out of being grounded because of my quick message on a Friday afternoon! Once students know you have their parents only one instant message away, their behavior and attitude changes.

  ### 45. Glad to be utilizing talking Points

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rose W. | School Counselor, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

Talking Points has been the easiest way for me to send out/ blast out messages to all of my seniors at the school I work at. It is user-friendly and very comprehensive. I'm so glad that I was shown this tool by one of my site administrators. I used it weekly to stay on top of communications with my students. I'm so thankful for this very useful tool!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I have not come across an issue with this tool thus far. It has only been very useful and helpful to me at this point.

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

Use this tool in the work that you do, it is so very helpful in contacting /communicating with large groups of people at once.
It is very user-friendly and easy for recipients to respond to you in a timely matter.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I can more easily communicate with large numbers of students at once. That makes my job and my ability to interact with my students in a timely matter much easier. My students can quickly respond to the messages that I send out as well, and that s a plus!

  ### 46. Direct communication has never been so easy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lillian F. | Bilingual Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 16, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

What I love the most about TalkingPoints is that after helping families set up their accounts, classroom teachers and non-English-speaking families can communicate directly with each other without a go-between! I also love that there is an option for a human to check the translation if it does seem confusing.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

The online version is not as great as the app, and it can be difficult to convince some people to download an app. However, the app does make it very technology friendly, and even the online version works well and gives you email notifications when someone sends you a message!

**Recommendations to others considering TalkingPoints:**

TalkingPoints is PERFECT for school communities and the instant communication is a game changer.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have never been able to communicate effectively with families who speak a language other than English or Spanish. We do not have that kind of interpretation available locally. This app allows us to reach all families equitably so everyone has the opportunity to stay informed.

  ### 47. TalkingPoints is a great tool for teachers to use!!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bill W. | Master's student, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 28, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I have several families who speak Spanish and TalkingPoints gives the the ability to text freely back and forth without worrying about my Spanish grammar! With Google Translate I always have to check if what I wrote is correct. TalkingPoints is easy to use and set up with families!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I have experienced a downside yet. I really enjoy the app!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I don't have any problems with TalkingPoints. It is easy to use and set up with families. I can easily communicate with families!

  ### 48. Very Useful Communication Tool

**Reviewed by:** Shadarra J. | Teacher, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2023

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I love that Talking Points removes the barrier posed by language differences with their translation feature.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I don't have any complaints about the program right now.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Language barriers

  ### 49. Talking points- for English language learners

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SIPPORAH K. | Teacher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 22, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

It supports multiple languages and is user friendly! It's very easy to navigate and I especially love the translation feature, as it makes communication with the families of my ESL students much easier!

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

I dislike that there isn't much integration into other platforms that are commonly used in the workplace. For example, if talking points could be integrated into the chat box of a platform such as zoom/Google meets, it would be even more useful!

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was tutoring students that were learning the English language, and this platform helped me communicate with the family members of these students with such ease!

  ### 50. Best App for Texting in Edu

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rachel W. | Designer and Publisher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 09, 2022

**What do you like best about TalkingPoints?**

I like that my personal contact information stays private while also providing reliable communication with families that do not speak English.

**What do you dislike about TalkingPoints?**

Occasionally, a translation from another language doesn't make sense. However, a simple click sends a message to be checked by a bilingual human.

**What problems is TalkingPoints solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication between teachers, students, and families that may or may not speak the same language.
