"Reliable way to retrieve and work with data efficiently"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

Probably the biggest standout from Starburst is that it decreases our dependency on operator data retrieval. We no longer have to extract and put things together from separate locations because it is accessible in a structured format. It has substantially reduced redundant work and made sure that our team dedicates its time to meaningful analysis rather than an excess on data preparation. This has helped us structure our decision making a lot more and has made it more efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

Starburst is powerful, but some advanced query functions are as complex as you would expect for something that involves moving notoriously complex data. Not all team members are comfortable with some features sometimes which sometimes causes hindrance as we wait for someone who is more experienced. The documentation could also be clearer, most especially when trying to identify a particular scenario. Because of this lack of clarity, some processes have been slower than they should be. "Our team doesn't panic before data analysis anymore"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

One of the highlights of the Starburst architecture is its data lakehouse architecture. This enables us to query data between different formats and locations without any issues. This has been a lifesaver for our data analysts so that they can have faster access to and analysis of data. The cost based optimization feature is also good since it helps us manage and optimize query costs. Moreover, it is easy to integrate with different data sources for the purpose of data consolidation from different platforms, offering a single view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

Setting up Starburst is a bit challenging, especially for those who are new to data lakehouse concepts. Although the documentation is comprehensive, the huge beginner friendliness. In addition, it may take a while to learn the curve of optimizing queries, and you can certainly need some trial and error to achieve the best performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Our team's stress levels have dropped since we started using Starburst"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

Starburst’s query engine is very powerful. This allows me to do such complex queries on multiple data sources without lifting a finger. This is a game changer for my work with my data analysis tasks. It is impressive that the software handles large datasets efficiently. For my work, I can process and analyze lots of data but will never get a lag. Furthermore, the user-friendly interface of the website makes it easy for the user to navigate and use even if one is not so tech-savvy. Top notch with regards to integration capabilities as well. What do you dislike about Starburst?

Starburst can handle robustly, but for beginners, it is a steep learning curve. On this matter, the documentation is very complete, but for new users it can be quite overwhelming. It is also a bit confusing in pricing structure as different tiers come with different access to the features. A standard price model would be really good. Finally, the customer service is too slow to respond. Sometimes I had to wait for a longer time than I was expecting to receive help. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast Data Queries and Robust Access Controls"
5/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

Starburst simplifies querying data quickly, while also offering useful controls for managing access. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

If Starburst offered more comprehensive documentation, particularly when new releases come out, it would make it much easier to understand the new features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"No more wasting time on data drudgery"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

Starburst demonstrates outstanding capabilities for retrieving data from multiple different sources. As part of a project I needed to assess sales records stored across three separate databases. Through Starburst I was able to execute multi database queries so I avoided spending one full day conducting the work. The outstanding security protocols of the platform bring reliability during the handling of critical data. Our daily operations thrive from automatic data encryption combined with user authentication features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

Unfortunately, one thing that can be a little frustrating on Starburst is closing the query window before saving your work. If there was an auto save feature for this it would be great. One issue is that very complex queries sometimes bogs down the system, and there are some performance problems here and there. Take for example, I sometimes had a query that needed to be run, and it took over 10 minutes to complete, that was a pain. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for complex queries"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

I like to see how Starburst makes it easier to link disparate data sets. Despite this, it keeps working, running smoothly, and maintaining standard and precision in every organization even when dealing with different environments. The use of research has helped in minimizing the risks posed by incomplete and other mismatched data results. The flexibility it has shown in dealing with the different types of queries it receives has helped minimize on overly complicated intra-functional work flows while directing more effort to the production of relevant results. What do you dislike about Starburst?

One major inconvenience of Starburst is that during heavily utilized periods, when executing complicated queries, it draws a rather large number of resources, and hence can be slow. Because fixing these queries involves some high level of technical experience, the problem solving would take a lot of time consuming time than required hence the disruption of the normal working progress hence affecting time bound projects that would be very crucial in the achievement of business objectives. "Our team’s data access has never been easier"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

The thing that I like most about Starburst is that it gives you instant access to all kinds of data across all sorts of places without ever needing to move the data physically. The ability for us to pull insights directly from where the data lives greatly benefits our workflow. By not having to manually collect, transfer, or aggregate data before using it, we’ve been able to streamline our processes and save us a lot of very valuable time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

In sum there are many good things with Starburst search engine but it is not always suitable for task of executing very specific, detailed questions. In some cases when a certain level of depth or specificity is required for business operations we have had to turn to other tools. Sometimes this longer process can be quite bothersome, especially when one has to shift between the tools for the purpose of the different interfaces. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Finally querying data from different sources feels effortless"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

I like Starburst to be able to let us query data from various sources but we don’t need to bring everything into one central database. It doesn’t matter it is AWS, Snowflake or other data platforms as we can work with data from multiple systems simultaneously. It saves ourselves from the extra steps like data transformation or migration and makes us to focus on what we should and actually need to do. It’s a big time saver and it makes it easier to streamline the processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

The problem with Starburst is permissions and access control across multiple data sources. There’s no central place to manage the permissions of all platforms. And each system has its own security protocols. The simple implication is that there’s a lot of elements we have to log into separately to make the changes that we need to. It’s an extra step that can throw off workflow, and especially when working on several platforms, with different user access needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"For us it's a real game changer for data querying"
4/5
What do you like best about Starburst?

I enjoy most about Starburst the ability to increase the overall speed and accuracy of how we retrieve our data. The platform ensures that whatever we're looking for pulls up instantly, and correctly. With this efficiency, my team has more time to actually think about a problem instead of wasting time browsing for data. We’ve found it very smooth on the data management side, making our processes much smoother, and bringing a lot more productivity to them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Starburst?

Starburst is a challenge if you have a lot of users, and a lot of them are accessing it at the same time - it can become slow. However, there is an occasional lag disorientating on workflow mostly when we are about to have access to the data quickly. The platform is too unstable during peak periods. It happens when we can’t do things on time, and when we can’t, we need to start over with deadlines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
