## About Spellbook
The world runs on contracts. Contracts run on Spellbook. Spellbook is the AI platform for commercial legal work that lives inside Word. It runs surgical first-pass reviews, suggests redlines, drafts language grounded in your own positions and real market data, and enforces your playbooks automatically so you can focus on work that actually requires a lawyer.

## Spellbook Reviews
  ### 1. Streamlined Legal Practice with Spellbook's Efficient Drafting

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro R. | Associate Attorney, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I use Spellbook for my legal practice and it makes my job a lot easier. I can do it a lot faster, and it provides a good reference to source regulations and statutes. I also appreciate the really good template boilerplate language, which I can include for various provisions and legal documents. It's helpful that the Spellbook system is able to cite to specific regulations, like IRS tax code, and check the legal requirements or the viability of the provisions I'm putting into an agreement or contract. The initial setup was really easy.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I haven't really had any issues, other than just being able to use it in tools other than Word. It'd be nice to be able to use it, like, in PowerPoint or in PDF, like Adobe Acrobat.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spellbook makes my job easier and faster by providing a good reference for regulations and templates with boilerplate language for legal documents. It helps check the viability of legal provisions, making drafting contracts and agreements more efficient. It also makes my final product look much better as it is able to not only check grammar, spelling, and formatting, but it is also able to make a document easier to read or more concise.

  ### 2. Legal Support a Click Away with Straightforward, Tailored Contract Reviews

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Gambling & Casinos | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 28, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

Having a legal team just a click away is really helpful. Contract reviews are straightforward, and the process can be tailored to the client’s needs.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

There are few things I dislike, mainly because Spellbook has adapted to changes quickly. On top of that, Spellbook continues to receive regular improvements, with useful new features being added over time. For example, the “Summarize Redlines” feature can detect and explain changes made to a document, and the “Compare Documents” feature has also proven to be highly beneficial.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I find it to be an exceptionally impressive tool. In addition to reviewing entire contracts or selected passages based on our instructions, it can also draft complete legal documents from scratch and generate new clauses or articles whenever needed. I’ve found this especially useful across different document types—whether it’s a service agreement, an NDA, or other legal instruments—and it can be applied for multiple brands. What further strengthens its value is its ability to address various jurisdictions, including Data Protection clauses that can be tailored to specific countries.

  ### 3. Saves Time, But Needs Language Flexibility

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chen S. | Associate General Counsel, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 22, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like that Spellbook improves the speed and accuracy of contract review. It saves us time, allowing us to focus on more important things, and it helps us save money by reducing the need for outside counsel. I also appreciate that it can review contracts in foreign languages, even though there's a challenge with the comments being provided in those languages. Plus, the initial setup of Spellbook was very easy for my team.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

When reviewing contracts in a foreign language, Spellbook often provides comments in that foreign language as well. But the reason we had Spellbook review the contract is because we don't understand that foreign language. So, providing the comments and advice in that foreign language makes no sense.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook for contract review. It improves speed and accuracy, saving us time and money by reducing reliance on outside counsel. It also helps us review contracts in foreign languages.

  ### 4. Seamless Document Drafting with Spellbook

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like that Spellbook works seamlessly with open documents, which is probably the biggest benefit for me. I also appreciate that if I ask it to cite authority, it can do so. Additionally, I like that it cross-references and catches statutory citations in documents and checks if they are wrong, flagging issues for me to fix or adjust accordingly. This feature saves me a ton of time and saves my clients a lot of money.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Sometimes I get citations to outdated or replaced laws, especially with statute citations. This makes it a big weakness as it cites old law. Also, in the drafting feature, if I don't provide very, very specific terms, Spellbook can be too literal. I'd prefer it to pull in more context from the edits and language of the draft document.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook for contract drafting, and it solves the problem of catching small nits in agreements, saving me from reading every page. It also helps update precedent documents, providing context for edits, similar to what an associate would do.

  ### 5. User-Friendly Legal Assistance with Occasional Lag

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Y A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 29, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like the user-friendliness of Spellbook and the ease with which it drafts emails or contracts for me, regardless of how complex the situation is. I also like the plugin feature that allows me to chat with the document or draft clauses on the spot based on client instructions. Spellbook cuts down on the time I spend trying to formulate the right sentences or source clauses I've used before since they are all in my library. It learns how I draft and function as a solicitor, which makes it even more valuable to me.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

The Spellbook app sometimes can freeze or take a long time to load.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spellbook helps with legal reasoning and complex scenarios, providing multiple pathways to tackle issues. It drafts emails and contracts efficiently, saving me time by learning my drafting style and offering ease of use.

  ### 6. Enhances Legal Document Efficiency, Needs AI Improvements

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Svet S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like that Spellbook is grounded in current law and uses what I would call market clauses. It's great that it increases our team's efficiency and helps us produce documentation and do legal research faster. The platform takes away a lot of the time we would otherwise need to draft agreements. The initial setup of Spellbook was also very easy, which was a nice start.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I think sometimes the AI does glitch. It's prone to making mistakes, so you have to be vigilant to ensure that they are caught. I think it could do a better job of proofreading for defined terms and section references.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook for legal research, drafting distinct legal clauses, and reviewing documents. It increases our legal team's efficiency, speeding up documentation and research, and reduces time spent on drafting agreements.

  ### 7. Intuitive UI Boosts Document Quality

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Simone O. | Partner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I really enjoy using Spellbook because the interface is super intuitive and easy to figure out. I use it for redlining document editing, adding comments, and drafting. These features help elevate the quality of the work product by adding an additional layer of clarity and specificity to the final deliverable work that I provide to clients. The initial setup was very easy, which made the whole experience smoother.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Spellbook Associate probably could use some work. It's just not as reliable in terms of creating a form or a document from examples that I can use as a workable draft.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook for redlining, editing, adding comments, and drafting. It makes the interface intuitive and simple, elevating the quality of my work by adding clarity and specificity to deliverables.

  ### 8. Good for Brainstorming, Bad for Citations (Time-Wasting Rabbit Holes)

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Courtney H. | Paralegal, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

It's good for brainstorming ideas, and drafting legal documents. It's pretty intuitive.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I absolutely hate the inaccurate and problematic legal citations. If there is no real or certain authority, don't presume to insert one to support an argument. It's a time-waster and has led me down several unproductive rabbit holes. I also don't like having to remind it time after time of our punctuation conventions and to keep Bluebook-style citations. I also dislike the file size limitations for uploading reference docs.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's drafting simple legal documents, using reference documents, and from time to time, it suggests helpful new ideas.

  ### 9. Exceptional Document Review with Slight Formatting Tweaks

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jonathan H. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I really like the detailed and thoughtful review of documents that Spellbook provides. It addresses many issues that I would miss without it. As a partner, I review many documents produced by my colleagues, and using Spellbook as a second reviewer catches many inconsistencies that I would miss and even flags legal issues for me. Also, the initial setup of Spellbook was really easy and took very little time or effort on our part.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Spellbook could improve the formatting of documents it produces. There is no need to randomly bold text and use different font sizes in legal documents. A more traditional look for the documents is needed. Start by producing all text in Times New Roman 12 pt. font.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook to review documents, catch inconsistencies, and flag legal issues, which I might miss otherwise.

  ### 10. Streamlines Contract Work, Struggles with iOS Integration

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lannie C. | Director of Legal and Business Affairs, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like that Spellbook provides options and aids in research, which is particularly valuable for contract review and drafting. I appreciate the 'ask' feature that lets me ask broad questions and provides a framework for pursuing research on my own. This helps streamline my workflow effectively.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Spellbook resides within MS Word on my laptop, but sometimes I use an iOS device and I have not been able to get Spellbook to work as an add-in on an iOS device. Also, there were some glitches during the initial setup, but after it was set up, it's worked fine.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spellbook streamlines my workflow, specifically in contract review and drafting, and provides helpful options for research.

  ### 11. Essential Tool for Contract Review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Freddie M. | Attorney, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I use Spellbook every day for contract review and proofreading my correspondence. I love the ease of use and its integration into Microsoft Word. It helps me find small cross-referencing errors and weed out unneeded terms in my work. Setting Spellbook up was a breeze, and it worked right from the start without any issues. Using it in tandem with Spellbook Associates boosts my productivity.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I don't have as much luck with the drafting options as I do with the review functions which I use every day.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook to find cross-referencing errors and keep unnecessary terms out, making contract review and proofreading more efficient.

  ### 12. Effortless Legal Document Review with Room for Improvement

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** __ r. | Visiting Researcher, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 30, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I like the review button in Spellbook. It's helpful because I can ask it to format or assist in formatting some documents, which works well even if it could be a little better. Setting up Spellbook was incredibly easy, and it integrates into Microsoft Word.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I think Spellbook could improve on formatting assistance, particularly with everything from sections that need to be underlined versus using bold. Also, using the actual section sign when quoting could be better. It would be helpful if it handled state guidelines better.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Spellbook to review legal documents and it summarizes them concisely, also assisting in formatting.

  ### 13. Closed Environment + Word Integration Streamline Drafting and Review

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Real Estate | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 23, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

It’s great to have a closed environment to conduct my work in Associate. In addition, the integration with Word makes drafting and review a much more streamlined process.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Particularly in Associate, I think there are still some issues with the output content, but I can clearly see it improving every time I use it. The biggest thing I’d like to see improved is for it to learn my formatting style, so I don’t have to go back through and edit things like bold, italics, underlines, and justification.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has sped up my workflow, which has helped increase my productivity and overall capacity.

  ### 14. Extremely Useful for Rewording and Adding Clauses in Agreements

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

The most helpful way that I have used Spellbook is to reword or add clauses to my agreements. The review function and the ability to write a new clause have been extremely useful in my transactional law practice.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I wish that it could write agreements from scratch based on uploading examples.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It can now create a document from scratch.

I like Spellbook for its intuitive GUI and the effective integration in Word, which lets me open documents and start reviewing and editing immediately. I also appreciate the new features that come on a regular basis and the effective support provided. The initial setup was very easy, which was a huge plus.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

The document comparison feature is relatively new and could be enhanced. I mentioned creating diffs similar to readlines as a potential improvement.

Spellbook provides accurate contract review and policy generation, saving me a lot of time.

I enjoy the ask function as it gets me pointed in the right direction, which cuts down time in addressing legal issues. The setup was easy, and the support was very good.

Sometimes, when working on several different clients, names get transposed from documents.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Spellbook helps organize me and cuts down on drafting time while its ask function gets me started in the right direction, reducing time in addressing legal issues.

  ### 17. Powerful Multi-Jurisdiction Contract Review with Built-In Legal References

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Transportation/Trucking/Railroad | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 04, 2026

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

I value the ability to review contracts across different jurisdictions and to reference the laws that apply in each one. The same applies when drafting contracts. This is particularly useful for me, as my work spans a number of jurisdictions.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

Initially, when accepting a recommended change in a review, the comment would be added automatically. Now I have to copy the comment and paste it in as a comment myself. It’s a bit time-consuming and slows down the process.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving me a lot of time.

  ### 18. Valuable Redline Suggestions and Reviewable Comments

I really enjoy being able to receive comments and actual redline suggestions that I can review and weigh before deciding what to accept.

**What do you dislike about Spellbook?**

I’ve been having problems with Spellbook formatting documents incorrectly, whether it’s based on how the document was originally created or when changes are made through redlining.

**What do you like best about Spellbook?**

The word integration is the most useful aspect, keeping it all within one window.

The formatting baseline is frustrating, and it does not automatically adjust formatting to fit into the document or into standard templates. There is also an issue of consistency - reviewing the same document twice gives two different answers.

**What problems is Spellbook solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In general, speed of basic contract reviews is greatly enhanced.
