"Simio is the software with the highest modeling capabilities. Very useful but hard to learn."
What do you like best about Simio?

Auto-creating entities, nodes, objects and paths allows you to create model automatically by direct data input

Great 3D animation capability Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

It is hard to learn and documentation of the software (help content) is limited. You can find get help from experts at simulationhelpdesk though Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simple and user friendly"
What do you like best about Simio?

The extensive probability distributions and the ease with which to import images for introducing creativity into a simulation. Further, the amount of documentation behind Simio is extensive. Tutorials and "how-to" videos are easy to find and the ever-increasing adoption rate of Simio in the academic and commercial realms means that their library is ever-growing. An interesting feature of Simio is the ability to assign "intelligence" to entities/nodes. When modeling a socio-technical system (such as trying to manage customer flow at self-checkout lines or modeling passenger throughout from an airport gate), this feature greatly enhances the outputs. What do you dislike about Simio?

Bugs and lag in importing images at times. If there was a major con that I can think of, it would be the inability of the software to sufficiently scale for complex and rather large simulations/models. The software is best utilized for quick, efficient simulations of small to medium projects. For something like a life cycle assessment of environmental systems, the network can become cumbersome and in turn slow down the execution of the model. Unless you have a touch-screen laptop (and even then, finger cramps can set in), the software is very "point and click" intensive. Further, the software could be said to lack the ability to produce "professional looking" outputs/charts/graphs/etc. These however could easily be remedied by exporting results to Microsoft Excel, Tableau, or another graphics program. "Great beginners tool into the simulation world"
What do you like best about Simio?

The ease of going from beginner to pro in a relatively short period. It has some great courses for when you are a beginner, it is an easy program the start learning. Bit by bit you can dive deeper into more complex simulations and it also becomes more fun.

It's also a nice addition that you can quickly switch from a 2d model to a well detailed 3d version with buildings, puppets, and other vectors. It even stores actual aircraft which makes it useful in presentations as well.

So summarised its a wonderful tool, especially for students whom can gain knowledge and experience with the software in a few months. It can handle small basic projects but also simulations of something as complex as a whole airport operation, in which the smallest details can be adjusted to tweak the outcome and optimize the whole process Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

Simio sometimes will run very slow, this can be due to lacking computer hardware, but these meet the minimum requirements. I have found that this also occurs when there is an error somewhere in the programming part of the simulation, when this is the case it is really difficult to find this issue. Further, I would like some sort of presentation mode where it 'pans' through the simulation to show is actually running, which can be used for presentations in one seamless way Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great and intuitive software for beginner level simulation"
What do you like best about Simio?

The user interface is extremely intuitive and utilizes several unique visualizations to portray simulation results. The simulation I tested even ran a sample assembly line to include forklifts, workers, queue buildups, and people on their cell phones Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

More complicated simulations are difficult to construct. Changing simple things such as a units behavior or a paths distribution can be difficult to find instructions on. Additionally online documentation is weak. Similar products include very in-depth documentation including free packages from python. I could not execute a simple aircraft maintenance problem without copious amounts of help from a subject matter expert. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simio Review"
What do you like best about Simio?

The models themselves. You're not only capable of programming and configuring models but you're also able to visualize them. Even import 3D renders from third parties. This can help a lot in identifying real life variables like space, traffic, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

The UI is kind of outdated. Not bad, but not smooth. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I used Simio intensively during my university studies."
What do you like best about Simio?

Easy visualisation, so the model can be built based on "visual" modules. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

Popularity of Simio models, which are "difficult" to share since other platforms are more popular (Mathworks' Matlab). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Analyze your System Here"
What do you like best about Simio?

Simio is a simulation software which provides great flexibility while creating and analyzing systems. Simio gives easy, visual picture of the system you are trying to create making it more effective and understandable. There are animations available and also an online library for images from where you can try and create a system that looks exactly what it does in reality. Apart from the visual aspects, simio provides great flexibility with the input and output parameters, with creating expressions and state variables. It also has the ability to perform experiments which increase the replications, giving you more accurate results. Simio has various easy to interpret result viewing options which include a table format as well as graphical format. It also has tutorials and guides to help you learn the software Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Simio?

There is actually nothing I dislike about simio. The only problem I have with simio is that it might be expensive to use. Other than this, learning simio well, to be able to find your way around the software, may take some time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
