It isn't bloated which means it's lightweight - you can effectively use it headless if needed. **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** Market penetration (outside of Australia/NZ) is still relatively low. That can be a barrier for clients and procurement teams - many of whom will not have heard of it. **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Excellent CMS usability - genuinely easy for clients to manage content (if set up correctly). Very scalable - great framework for data management where you perhaps don't need a CMS, e.g. a client platform. Fantastic templating language. ### 2. It offers a high level of security and a fantastic user experience. **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** It lacks presence in the UK, despite being very popular in Europe and it's native New Zealand. And it's marketing website really doesn't do the platform justice. **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Silverstripe gives us a platform where we can just say "yes" to client requests. We don't need to rely on plugins of dubious quality, it gives us all the tools and framework to develop excellent bespoke websites. ### 3. It is secure, highly customizable and a flexible CMS to create and maintain websites as well as web applications. It gives you real control over the most complicated and complex websites. **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** Silverstripe has dropped support for Internet Explorer in December 2021, and while it may sound like a legitimate move, that was not a desirable move. Moreover, sometimes when you upgrade to a newer version, you've to shell some money out of your pocket to use all the fresh features. **Recommendations to others considering Silverstripe CMS:** SilverStripeCMS comes with a Free Demo. Try it out as much as you want before committing to it. and do not get overwhelmed by its first experience. This is much easier to use than a lot of other CMS available. **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Assuming that once the website is built, someone with smaller technical experience has to manage it, Silverstripe scores here as it is very easy to use and not quite sophisticated and complex as some of its competitors. My content development speed was increased manifolds using this flexible CMS. ### 4. ".ss" extension is probably one of the best I've used as well. I've made modules probly more easily than on any other CMS (beside Drupal 8). When it comes to explain to my clients how to administrate their websites, they rarely come back to me after that. Upgrading is quite easy as well. The administration is really easy to understand, you can add custom tabs almost anywhere and manage almost any types of fields (varchar, text, boolean, file). File uploading is easy as well, form submissions is a real peace of cake. I also really like their beginner tutorial, it covers almost everything Silverstripe offers out of the box. Their documentation is quite easy to manage as well and their API does the job! **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** Sadly, the community is a bit small, the forum is even a bit left behind for a slack channel. **Recommendations to others considering Silverstripe CMS:** Just go for it, develop your own website with it for a testing purpose, and you'll adopt it! **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I'm developping 99% of my websites with Silverstripe. The only one I haven't developped with SS was an website/e-commerce, I picked Drupal. But SS is far more easy to use. ### 5. It was refreshing coming from Wordpress where its so overcomplicated. I felt like I only saw what I needed to and didn't have too many features available that I'd never touch. Navigating through the CMS was easy as well. User-friendly all around. **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** As an Account Manager, I had to work more with my development team for any serious changes. In other CMS's I've used I could customize things a bit more. You have to push everything to your development team. **Recommendations to others considering Silverstripe CMS:** Look at the current CMS you are using and really think about what features you actually need. When was the last time you used those features? If you start to realize that there is only small handful of items you need to access, you are better off with a CMS like SilverStripe. **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** I used this project when I was working at a startup who built up the web presences of local businesses. For our clients who just went through a redesign, this CMS was perfect. There was no need to have unlimited options. No need to change their content. Making edits to the website is a breeze and it's very interactive with the website's functionalities. I like that I can log into the website, find the page and then simply click edit in CMS to make changes to that page. Can also be paired with sister sites and it easily and accurately connects related content. **What do you dislike about Silverstripe CMS?** Some functions, such as incorporating photos, require multiple steps that could better pared down. **Recommendations to others considering Silverstripe CMS:** Test it out, the user interface is certainly easy to adjust to, but make sure any web page content, including it's SEO traffic history can be carried over from the previous CMS. Once we switched, Google considered it a new website and we lost all our SEO history. We had to rebuild our traffic numbers from scratch. **What problems is Silverstripe CMS solving and how is that benefiting you?** Enables customization but without the complexity and overcrowding of functions and menus.
