You do not have to know a ton about SEO as the basics will do. You can go right to a page by page audit to see how your site pages are performing and what SEO changes you need to make. I did have an issue at the start and customer support got back to me within 4 hours via email which is outstanding. **What do you dislike about SheerSEO?** SheerSEO can get a little pricey for the advaced features but I purchased mine through AppSumo which made it quite affordable. **What problems is SheerSEO solving and how is that benefiting you?** I had little insight to how each of my pages and my overall website was optimized for SEO. It's one of the best I have found, even better than SurferSEO. It's very good for gray niches. You can also research your competitor's keywords as well. The link checker is great and will give your backlinks a score and tell you why the links may be toxic. If you can't afford Ahrefs or SEMrush you can't go wrong with SheerSEO. They (Majestic) have the best data when it comes to backlinks. But their subscription is pretty expensive, so I'm happy to have an all-in-one in SheerSEO. Also, I asked the support for some modifications/questions, and he quickly answered or fixed my problems. **What do you dislike about SheerSEO?** The Keyword Explorer tool. They have a lot of data, but there is a lack of one functionality: the possibility to see the search engine results and their referring domains, trust flow, citation flow, etc. It would be the perfect tool if it was possible. **What problems is SheerSEO solving and how is that benefiting you?** It helps me get all the backlinks of my competitors; it also allows me to manage my backlinks, and when I need to launch a new website and find a low-competition niche, I'm constantly assessing the competition with SheerSEO thanks to the quality of the data that SheerSeo is allowing me to get. It is also very useful when I need to see what backlinks I have lost or to see if I should or not invest my time (and money) in getting a backlink or not. ### 6. In many sections, it has nothing to envy either of them, and the best thing is that it does it at a small fraction of the cost of the other two. I bought SheerSEO to use with less important clients, but now I use it with my projects. For some clients in Spanish, the database is still short, and I'm confident it will be fixed soon. But in English, their database is extensive and very helpful, and the estimated search, competition, and click-through figures align with reality compared to other keyword research tools. Their keyword Gap tool is fantastic too, and super helpful, although I would love that instead of 3 competitors, they would allow you to enter five as in other devices. It also allows tracking keywords at a better price than other platforms and in greater quantity. Their SEO report is very helpful and helped me identify problems that Ahrefs, for example, still needs to find. This has been very surprising for me! And finally, your backlink tool has been very helpful in identifying some toxic links that I didn't even know I had, and now I can act accordingly. So if, when reading this review, you thought that SheerSEO is just another tool and that it is below other options, the answer is NO. It is an excellent option for people starting in the SEO world. Still, it goes beyond that and can be very useful for more experienced people or agencies who need to lower their bills and optimize costs. What we like most about SheerSEO is the ability to identify 'toxic' backlinks. These backlinks negatively affect our standing with Google. With other tools we have to run the report then filter. SheerSEO already has this built in. **What do you dislike about SheerSEO?** When checking backlinks, it would be nice to know if the site is offline. When reviewing the backlink report, we would manually click on each link to verify. To be fair, we would do this with other SEO reporting tools as well. However, if you did subscribe, it unlocked all the features. Research: Keyword Research that includes Keyword ideas and Competitor’s Keywords. And finally, the support is amazing. They will get back to you in a very reasonable time, very quick in most cases, and help solve the issue in no time. **What do you dislike about SheerSEO?** This tool, for me, is perfect. As a beginner wanting to use SEO software to help me understand what is wrong and how to fix it—I can’t find any downside to this. **Recommendations to others considering SheerSEO:** If you're a beginner to SEO you'll discover how easy it is to fix your SEO issues on your site. **What problems is SheerSEO solving and how is that benefiting you?** SheerSEO is helping me find what’s wrong with my SEO, ranking colored coded issues in a column with a “How To Fix” column next the the issue. The development team has been very responsive over the years to customer feedback and has evolved the tool with the times. I occasionally use the white label feature which is nice, when I have to give clients access - otherwise having PDFs and Excel versions of key reports is what I mostly rely on. All of my peers use SEMRush but I feel that by using SheerSEO my workflow is different, and better, than most, because of the way I am looking at the data. My philosophy is, do something a little different from the mainstream and you can usually outrun everybody else, and SheerSEO helps me do that. The extensive content optimization and competitor info is great, and now with keyword research features in it, this tool is really doing it all. **What do you dislike about SheerSEO?** I don't dislike much; I haven't used the integration with Google Analytics so I can't really speak to that but I probably should be using it. This service has been a reliable mainstay of my agency business for years and I am super happy with it. I would like to see Paid Search tracking capabilities, i.e. the same kind of ranking features but with some kind of sampling on the paid search side of things. **Recommendations to others considering SheerSEO:** Make sure you really explore all the menus, there are a jillion features and I'm often surprised! **What problems is SheerSEO solving and how is that benefiting you?** For me, the #1 problem is tracking SEO progress, and it does a fantastic job of that. The biggest plus is the keyword tools. The rankings feature allows me to see how my top pages are doing and if they are continuing to perform. Based on this I can apply similar strategies to my newer pages to get them to perform too. I haven't found anything else that shows ranking of particular keywords as simply and succinctly as this. I also like the fact you can research competitors keywords, and backlinks. Fortunately, I stumbled across SheerSEO, and I'm so happy that I did. Here's why... My first impression was that the SheerSEO platform felt mature, and my account was set up in seconds. Before I knew it, I was looking a keywords results, current ranking position, backlinks to my site, indexed pages, a feature called toxic links, keyword gaps, and so much more. I was like a kid in a candy store! The layout is clean and it has an easy-to-understand workflow, and there are features inside SheerSEO that I have not seen anywhere else, apart from the very top tier SEO services costing thousands of dollars to use each month. The site layout is a simple top to bottom menu offering a dashboard as your initial landing page, you then flow into current and historical rankings which is good if you want to quickly compare your SEO performance. To give you an idea, there are an additional 20 feature sets that flow on from there.
