**Reviewed by:** Annika L. | Lead Program Integrator , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2020

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Servoy is an astonishing platform with help of which we developed applications by using its library we become able to get records from the database. We really admire its design tools that are unique and so helpful. We have found it as a complete package that has allowed us to link with the database, to design form, and to write a code. it has made application development super convenient .we utilized its other essential functions also and they too worked so well and we have found it excelling in debugging too. So overall it is an incredible tool.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

We have found it as a complete package with all the essentials features required for application development but the only thing that trobled is that it doesn’t work well with customized javascript. using custom javascript caused us massive trouble.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Servoy is a good tool and we have a wonderful experience of using it for application development. With it, linking with the database, designing, and writing a code has become convenient and all present in one place. and it is also very good in debugging .all just that troubled is it doesn’t work well with custom javascript.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

  ### 7. Servoy is all that it claims to be

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin G. | Senior Software Developer, Insurance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 02, 2018

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

- A library or function already exists for most any purpose

- Powerful, flexible data handling capabilities

- RAD thanks in part to so many common functions (navigation, security, etc.) being available

- Use of the eclipse IDE

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Not exactly a "dislike" but 1 issue I had: Builds could take a very long time when connected to legacy data (Visual FoxPro DBF files, using JDBC).

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

I would definitely recommend using Servoy (both the company and the product) since my own experience has been singularly positive. I think Servoy is especially well-suited to getting a certain kind of legacy app rewritten and up and running. In our case, simply reproducing existing features and functions was always accomplished fairly quickly and efficiently, and the resulting product was also cleaner, more maintainable and more user-friendly - no small feat given the upgrade from FoxPro to a true multitier architecture.

Beyond this general recommendation to someone considering Servoy, I would also suggest two things:
1. Try to do a proof of concept that includes a real business/programming concern (using your own data) since this should provide a good picture of what a larger Servoy project is going to look like.
2. Use Servoy resources to the extent possible, which often saves time & money in the long run despite some upfront cost.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

- Updating a critical legacy application originally written in FoxPro 2.5 and rewritten in Visual FoxPro approximately 15 years ago

- Primary benefits are 1) Servoy expertise & experience, and 2) rapid development

  ### 8. Servoy - rapid application development for in-house apps and small/medium ISV's

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hessel K. | Owner/CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 07, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

- Very fast realization of working software
- Great team, fun to work with, listens to customer needs
- Ability to work with Javascript and ability to create custom components
- Annual Servoy World conference

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

- Not in all aspects 'the latest and greatest' in tech. That's also not needed, but in some cases we revert to additional tech to complement Servoy (we also use node.js and react.js)
- Would be great if the community was bigger and more documentation was available

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Dig into the possibilities of Servoy: Work with their support staff, attend the annual Servoy World conference, read documentation, watch video's/webcasts, engage with other customers

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Minox provides accounting software for the Dutch SME market, with a focus on finance professionals. We were able to rapidly realize a market ready application with Servoy in 2014/2015. Currently Servoy serves as a stable backbone for our solution.

  ### 9. Servoy is a class act and works very hard to please their customers

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Very personable company that you know will be there to assist you with your development needs. I encourage anyone looking for a powerful and robust development platform to modernize their existing desktop, thin client, Cloud or SaaS applications to take a serious look at the development environment we chose, Servoy.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

The concerns that I raised with Yvo Boom, Managing Director, were addressed. This is why I continue to advocate for Servoy because they listen to their customers and work hard to make your transition and your projects successful so they are completed on time.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Take a few minutes to pick up the phone and contact them. They are great people that want you to succeed and will help you every step of the way.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Needed a replacement for Visual FoxPro and needed our application to work on Windows, Macintosh, Linux on desktop, thin client, Cloud and SaaS. We received the Servoy Large Data award for managing a database size that exceeds 20TB. We host our own mail tracking and currently track nearly one trillion pieces of mail since over the past several years.

  ### 10. Successfully developed and hosted multi-tenant Servoy solutions for over 10 years

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dean W. | President, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

What I like best about Servoy is the people behind the product. They have always done what they have promised, even when it was not easy.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

The Servoy development environment has been consistently updated every year for the past 10 years. Sometimes it is a challenge to keep up with all the changes, however it is good to be using a product that stays current.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

We highly recommend this product.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We specialize in the property-casualty insurance industry. Our Servoy single server cloud solution has allowed us to provide simultaneous multi-user access to over 1,500 insurance agencies in fifty states for over 10 years, with no loss of data and 99.9% up-time. During this period of time our customers have been able to process hundreds of millions of ACORD form records for insurance applications, losses, binders, certificates of insurance, etc.

  ### 11. Productive Full-Stack JavaScript Development Environment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott B. | President, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Amazing productivity with automatic data-binding to any JDBC database and a WYSIWYG editor for point and click UI design. Begin coding quickly with the simple JavaScript API. If you need more, there is the ability to extend with the Java API so nearly anything is possible.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Documentation is good, but could be improved.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a consulting company, I have helped many different business create custom applications with Servoy. Generally its specialized workflows that don't have off-the-shelf software available. So there are lots of business rules, data entry screens, reports, client-side portals, etc.
The speed of development with Servoy beats any other platform, and is easy to maintain.

  ### 12. Reliable, potent, easy, fast... Best ever development platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Juan Antonio S. | CTO, Program Development, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Servoy has a beautiful API and plugins that allow us to develop application in a very short time. It was not very hard to learn (even I had never written anything using JavaScript, touched HTML and seen CSS).
We've been able to develop work of art / award winning solutions within record time, having an average of a few hundred concurrent users a day,

The whole team at Servoy is very friendly, helps a lot and listens to our needs.

Definitely the best move I've ever done is from Visual FoxPro to Servoy

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

From Servoy... Hard to say.
Maybe documentation for a beginner is not great

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Check the official forum and the Wiki.
Use the forum as an starting point to get things clear. Servoy also offers a Servoy101 training that is very helpful and intensive.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We develop applications for the Medical and Legal industry in the UK, and previously I was a developer building business applications for companies in different countries.
Servoy allowed me to build applications for my customers very rapidly, offering my customers secure, fast and reliable solutions.

  ### 13. Servoy speedy assistance

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Barney C. | Head of Operations and IT, Real Estate, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

We had a server issue and our Servoy app had become damaged and would not boot. We called Servoy CEO and he put an engineer on the case withing 10 minutes and was able to diagnose and resolve the issue with our tech team

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

There were no issues that were unsatisfactory.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Whilst we are still running an older version the Next Gen client and support is excellent

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Servoy acts our CRM, API source for web solutions, and main database for historic financial data and calculations hosting over 120million records.

  ### 14. Partnership in app development

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 11, 2018

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

The ability to choose when to reuse business logic, and when to re-write. Also, Servoy manages the many layers of technology for us, allowing us to focus on business logic and screens for deployment.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

At this point in our relationship there is nothing of significant concern that would deter us from embracing Servoy as a tech partner.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Decide if you want to develop tools to develop your application -- or focus on developing the application, and letting someone else manage the framework. Determine the internal cost (which is not easy to do); impact of time to market, and compare to the added fees.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Challenges associated with modernization of a large Windows-based ERP system to the Web.

  ### 15. Servoy is a great rapid application development platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt M. | IT, Medical Devices, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

I like how active the Servoy developers are with the user community.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Highly recommended!

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Servoy primarily for collecting dimensional data in our manufacturing process. We also use it for creating certificates of conformance and tracking non-conformances.

  ### 16. CARDWATCH Selects Servoy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gary M. | President, Information Technology and Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Appsurance program has been very helpful in our efforts to modernize our UI/UX together with our Progress Db

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Need a larger selection of ready to go widgets.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Put them on your list and talk to them

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We selected Servoy to help modernize our Point Of Sale App. Our first project was to create a mobile app for self serve account management, transaction review and food ordering. With their guidance, it looks awesome.

  ### 17. We use Servoy as our main development platform since 2007

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 06, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Flexibility and the fact that we can primarily focus on functionality instead of building 'the stack'.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

A list of performance tweaks, especiallly relevant to large solutions would help (like mentioned at the end of the previous CAB meeting recording).
Also saving/building takes really long (depending on environment, multiple minutes). How can this be optimized? Maybe better solution/module setup?

Suggestions:
It would be nice to have or build a best practices library. I know there are some videos on Servoy universtity but they are hard to find for our typical developer. They should be like really simple code snippets they can look at.Some examples :
How to setup and use modules
How to organize the work space
What are good code/naming conventions
OOP (classes and constructors, inheritance )
How to create abstract code and interfaces
Best way to loop foundsets
Handling big datasets
Best way to design forms in your app (baseforms, inheritance)

We are struggling also to keep our developers up to date with standards and new servoy features. Maybe show these randomly at (optional) tips at startup?
A common pitfall is writing code or create a specific approach that runs very fast on a local developers workspace, but tends to get slow on real client-server environments where network latency and server roundtrips come into place.
What is a best practice for database usage among a development team. Sometimes a central db is preferred, but a local database works a lot quicker and allows better sandboxing. Support for database seeds from developer could be nice. To be able to distribute them even nicer.
Examples and best practices of unit tests.

Speed up delivery of improvements for: continuous delivery/deployment strategy

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Meet ISV's/customers from Servoy

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Flexible standard solution for our target markets. We are able to provide what the customer needs. Different configurations, even customised in some cases, and stil have the possibility to release updates to all our customers

  ### 18. Simply the best most flexible application development platform there is

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David P. | Director, Medical Practice, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 25, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Servoy has enabled our business to develop high quality, advanced smart and web based database applications for over 10 years and all from a single codebase. Its agile, flexible, friendly, robust and secure. Servoy has allowed us to create ground breaking and award winning case management applications, with great integrations with many third party applications, and deploy these to serious medical and legal professionals over the 12 years we have been using this platform.

Whats more the company is approachable, helpful and works with its developer community.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Microsoft, .net and any other platforms where the cost and time of development is 10X that which is offered by Servoy.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Get some help from Servoy in the initial set-up. To users of more out of the box software it appears a little complex at first. But its well worth the effort to get past the initial set-up and from then on it becomes very simple and powerful. Use the forum as all the members are very friendly and helpful. Dont be afraid to ask what appear to be stupid questions! All of mine were answered!

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We write case management systems for lawyers, medical experts, and treatment professionals. Servoy has allowed us to integrate the supply chain on separate but linked applications, integrated with some great 3rd party APIs such as XERO, DOCMAIL, SMS providers. All done with a minimal number of lines of code and in a very short development lifecycle.

  ### 19. Modern version of a RAD tool for ISVs and complex applications

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Harold T. | DGA, algemeen directeur, Information Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 04, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

We market a vertical application to hundreds of companies and needed a platform that not only would give us RAD capabilities but also handles the deployment site of things (on-premises and Cloud).

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Maybe the pricing part, though if I have to choose between risking my business or paying for a platform and expertise to get it done and reduce my risk, the choice is easy.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By having been able to move to the Cloud in a controlled and fast way, we have grown our company dramatically. Building an entire modern stack by ourselves would have taken us over 20 man-years.

  ### 20. Outstanding vendor - great technology and service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Audrey K. | Chief Information Officer, Insurance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

The Servoy Framework made it possible for us to convert an obsolete yet vital FoxPro application into a modern database. We used in-house programming staff (who Servoy trained) and contract developers through Servoy. This company stands behind their promises and has top quality personnel.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

There is nothing about Servoy that would keep me from recommending it.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our database conversion project would not have been feasible without Servoy technology and personnel.

  ### 21. Enabled us to build a big complex project fast and well

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon R. | Managing Director, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2017

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

The attitude of the team. They are a true partner working to help us succeed. Their tool is very mature and they are constantly adding new features and tools.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

I wish that the community was larger and more involved, though that has improved recently.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Engage with their team. They are very helpful and can add a lot.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were able to build and go to market with a large scale, full feature ERP solution using their platform in about half the time that it would have taken somewhere else for less than half the cost.

  ### 22. Servoy - Data layer like nothing else iv seen

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** McCourt C. | Systems Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2016

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

The built in data layer(foundset) and schema management are amazing and allow us to rapidly prototype and build without having to track our db schema in version control.

Servoy does all of this for you.
No queries to write but you can if you need advanced functionality.

Best of all you can extend Servoy by writing plugins or beans in standard java using the Servoy apis and classes.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

Documentation, Documentation, Documentation!

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Give it a go, the licensing seems steep at first but it pays for itself tenfold.

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are building Asset integrity management solutions using Servoy managing assets for some of the largest companies in the world.

  ### 23. Managed the development of multiple Servoy projects internal to a private company

**Rating:** 1.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Executive Office | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 26, 2015

**What do you like best about Servoy?**

Servoy takes a number of open sources packages and brings them together into one cohesive package. Once you understand how to develop within Servoy, applications can be developed quickly and efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Servoy?**

There are not many developers in the US. So the training curve is steep in the beginning. There are a limited number of Servoy consultants in the US as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Servoy:**

Servoy can be powerful, just make sure you are aware of the learning curve and are willing to have a limited developer pool to pull from (same goes for consultants).

**What problems is Servoy solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were trying to solve everyday business issues, and trying to make the most efficient use of our development time. A number of process improvement initiatives were implemented using Servoy, the benefits were the speed at which a prototype or an application could be developed compared to other systems with no robust framework.
