Students can see how the same structures and steps result in the appropriate analyses and can then see how the preset procedures in SAS give the same values. **What do you dislike about SAS/IML?** The learning curve can be a bit steep for students not as familiar with basic programming skills like loops and linear algebra skills like matrix mulitplication. You can also call R using IML, which can make advanced calculations easier than trying to do it solely in SAS. **What do you dislike about SAS/IML?** It's very frustrating how expensive this separate package is. I am not sure about the exact pricing, other than that my organization is not willing to pay for it because there are less expensive alternatives (R, Python, etc.) that can perform these calculations. **What problems is SAS/IML solving and how is that benefiting you?** This is the only package that will allow you to perform matrix math in SAS. ### 17.
