SAS solution is robust and comprehensive as compared to other products in the Business Intelligence industry. The end to end solution offered by SAS BI, which includes platforms ranging from performing bulky ETL work to providing power users to create informative dashboards, packs a neat punch. High licensing costs can be a disincentive for small to medium level enterprises trying to build sustainable Business Intelligence solutions. As with most businesses, talent shortage sometimes does play a role as skilled SAS Business Intelligence workforce is scarce to find. SAS has a wide variety of built in programs which makes bootstrapping quick and easy. The huge community provides a very good support in case of troubleshooting. Base SAS along with other packages cover almost the whole gamut of statistical analysis and techniques. SAS programming syntax can be considered as a high level language which is intuitive and easy to learn compared to other softwares like R. Though great with statistical analysis, SAS is not as good with data extraction and manipulation compared to say SQL.
