Avoid at all costs **Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jonatan R. | Regional Technical Support Analyst, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2023 **What do you like best about Remitly?** Absolutely nothing, from the start they have provided a bad experience. **What do you dislike about Remitly?** Absolutely horrible customer service, and they do fraudulent transactions with your credit card, which they refuse to provide explanations or refunds, I made a transaction on August 16, for $300, which I canceled the next day since I didn't need it anymore, I got a refund on the same day ( August 17) and thought it was all over, but boy was I wrong, they did a non authorized charge on my credit card for $300 on August 18, 2023, when I contacted them on this they did not want to provide much information and instead just said that the refund was done on "August 17" and they are unaware of other charges. Well then, I did a chargeback via the bank since they do not want to admit they charged me $300 erronouesly, and today Oct 03 they sent me an email with the most stupidiest explanation on top of asking me to please cancel the dispute with the bank so that they can further analyze my case and then see if it they could refund the money they stole from me in the first place. Note that the $300 charge occured when I had already deleted my payment method from their website, but it seems they save all your credit card information and can make transactions using your credit card regardless, so I suggest people to be extremely careful when using Remitly, I would advise not to use it at all. **What problems is Remitly solving and how is that benefiting you?** They are not solving any problem and it did not benefit me in anyway, in fact they are trying to steal $300 with a non-authorized transaction. **Official Response from Laura Hernandez:** > Hi, we're sorry to hear about experience, we understand that your issue still needs attention, and we'd like to take a closer look at it. The enrollment process is quite easy and the application is easy to set up. The transfer process itself takes about 5 business days overall on an end to end basis. The funds are withdrawn in 2 days and the transfer takes place in the next 3 days. Great experience so far. Most of the times, the transaction has a smooth flow all the way into the destination account. The validation process of authentication of your emerging and destination accounts are quite commendable. **What do you dislike about Remitly?** The exchange rate of the portal is a bit on the lower end compared to its peers. Also, there is a difference in the exchange rate between express option and the economy option. There is an involvement of third party without any explanation which delays the transfer of funds occassionally. **Recommendations to others considering Remitly:** Great product to consider for remittance needs to any of the countries. Check the exchange rate and/or the fee prior to your transfer. **What problems is Remitly solving and how is that benefiting you?** Remitly allowed me to transfer funds from my USA bank account in the past. Currently, i'm using it to transfer funds from my Canadian account currently. The portal is one of the few ones that doesn't charge any fee for amount about $600. The portal enables me to get registered easily. The first transaction allowed me to transfer a max of $2999 and didn't impose any restriction for the subsequent transactions. There is an easy validation process to get connected to any of your source bank accounts. Also, there is a wide variety of banks already authorized by remitly for the destination accounts. The validation process also includes name matching on your accounts prior to issuing a credit. Remitly also provides a decent exchange rate and stores all your past transactions as history. It also lets you continue your intermediate pause of started transaction or lets you start over from scratch. Overall, Remitly has served as a great medium for both personal and corporate needs for offshore money transfer, ### 13.
