What do you like best about Red Sentry?

In February 2024, I was tasked with coordinating penetration testing for several of our company’s site locations. I reached out to Red Sentry for quotes and support, and they were responsive, easy to work with, and provided all the necessary details to move the project forward. What do you dislike about Red Sentry?

What problems is Red Sentry solving and how is that benefiting you?

We asked Red Sentry to do an external security check across our company sites. At the time, we had Cisco ASA firewalls in place and no internally hosted public-facing websites. Their test mostly confirmed that nothing was exposed externally, which was useful for our audit. It gave us a basic validation that our perimeter was locked down and there weren’t any obvious issues. What do you like best about Red Sentry?

I think they did a reasonably good job pen-testing my environment. I shopped around and their rates were the most reasonable. The service was excellent. They did what they promised and in the time frame. Their report was detailed and accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Red Sentry?

Pen-testing is a contractual requirement with large enterprises. It's something any developer team can do themselves so it's a bit painful to have to hire an external service provider for this, the rates in relation to the work feel astronomical. Red Sentry might have limited scope as it might not cover all the potential data leaks. It might have limited customization options for monitoring rules and alerts hence not catering the specific needs of the user. Red Sentry may not be fully customised to meet the specific environment or risk profile, tailoring scans might need additional manual effort. What do you like best about Red Sentry?

Red Sentry handles the pentesting and vulnerability scanning for the portfolio companies in our venture studio, many of which have strict compliance regulations in their different industries (fintech, transportation, and others). They’re so easy to work with, and have found some really critical vulnerabilities that we were able to patch up immediately. For us, having the dedicated project manager is important too, because not all of our stakeholders are technical, so Jacob is able to explain things in simple terms and walk us through the process in a really white-glove way. What do you dislike about Red Sentry?

One thing we would like is to have our pentesting results in a platform SaaS format, like their vulnerability scanning. That way, we can see the results from all our projects at once, track over time, etc. But, Red Sentry is building a PTaaS platform right now based on customer feedback, so I’m looking forward to when that launches.
