You can choose the version of Kubernetes you want to run. You can build, push, pull, and run container images using either containerd or Moby (dockerd). Install it, pick your container runtime, and you're up and running — no fiddling around with VMs or licensing. The Kubernetes integration is a nice bonus when you need it. Way less hassle than the alternatives. **What do you dislike about Rancher Desktop?** Honestly not much to complain about. It does the job and stays out of the way. The UI is fairly minimal which I personally like, but folks expecting a richer dashboard might want more controls surfaced in the interface. **What problems is Rancher Desktop solving and how is that benefiting you?** It gives me a simple, reliable way to run Docker containers locally for development without the overhead and licensing complications of other tools. I can spin up containers, work with images, and even use Kubernetes when I need to — all from one app. ### 2. It has docker runtime built-in and can run almost every possible Kubernetes version. It ships with Rancher GUI which makes working with Kubernetes very easy. Developers of Rancher Desktop are easy to reach on GitHub and they listen to feedback. **What do you dislike about Rancher Desktop?** I like everything about Rancher Desktop - it does its job very well. The first versions of Rancher Desktop were a bit raw, but now it's a polished piece of software ready for everyday use. **What problems is Rancher Desktop solving and how is that benefiting you?** Rancher Desktop provides Docker runtime and command line interface to it on the development machine. It also integrates Kubernetes and Rancher GUI. We use it on development laptops for easier software containerization and preparation to run on Kubernetes clusters. ### 3.
