What I like best about PVcase Prospect is how quickly it helps identify good solar sites. The interface is simple, the data is clear, and it makes early-stage site analysis much faster. There’s not much to dislike, but sometimes the data loading can feel a bit slow, especially for larger areas. A bit more flexibility or speed when exploring sites would make the experience even better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think the environmental screens; flood, wetland, etc., could be updated. We’ve had to use Transect to compliment Prospect in early stage site suitability studies which adds additional cost where Prospect could, theoretically, update the platform at minimal cost increase. Prospect really allows us to focus on identifying sites and pre-screening effectively, instead of flipping between multiple different programs. We can easily narrow down from county level projects to municipalities, and even local substations, without losing the larger picture. I really like how the templates help us to screen quickly. PVCase used to have more “buffer” time or would be slower, it seems like that has been fixed up tremendously over the last few years. Right now, there is nothing I dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I appreciate the integration of layers. The pre-loaded layers are very helpful, and it's great that we can manually upload our own layers. This way, we can ensure we have all the information we need when choosing, or eliminating, a site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Some layers take longer to load than others. I wish there was a way to localize the toggling of a layer to a certain area, that way my computer doesn't slow down. Additionally, I wish there was a way to open links in new tabs from within PVP. For example, if I wanted to open a bunch of different projects in different tabs, I have to renavigate to the Project page in each tab over and over again, instead of going there once and opening each project in a new tab. So many different data sources being in one place from a wide variety of sources. Quickly reviewing a site and getting a good idea of potential concerns for development. Ability to store large amounts of information and details across multiple states. Specific state layers are also awesome and help with looking at solutions from a more micro perspective. Also, constant updates are amazing. The team at PVcase is always innovating and trying to make our job easier. The contact searching feature and recently added zoning feature have been amazing. Some features can be buggy and slow to load. Sometimes certain features do not work which can be frustrating. Some tools do not behave as you would expect (recently, adding an electric line from another project has only added a segment and deleted the rest of the segment). PVcase is absolutely the worst user interface I have ever interacted with. The software is slow and completely uncustomisable and editing abilities are half-built out. It feels like someone tried to make a really great software but stopped 70% of the way there. For example, you can create superparcels (great) but you can't edit them if you accidentally make a mistake (I frequently accidentally include or exclude extra parecls because the software is so slow and glitchy that I'm unsure if a parcel I selected was actually included). You can run buildability analysis but can't run them on groups and superparcels are frustrating to work with. Sometimes the menu gives me the option to edit styles and colours, other times I fullly have to try again another day for it to work. You can also add some features to a project (like parcels and substaions) but not others (such as wind turbines). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I've been using PVcase Prospect for the past couple of months. I really like the platform as it has pretty comprehensive suites of tools at my disposal. Prospect has several key strengths - Zoning layers, transmission corridors, constraint maps and sharp visuals among others. Customer support has also been great. There is little to no load/lag time. Pvcase Prospect is the most valuable tool in our software suite. It guides us through site selection, grid analysis, and land acquisition.
