Proton Pass for Business is a cloud-based password management solution specifically designed to assist small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in securely storing, sharing, and managing login credentials and sensitive data. With a focus on end-to-end encryption and robust administrative controls, this platform addresses the critical need for improved credential hygiene, compliance support, and streamlined access to business systems. It is particularly tailored for organizations that prioritize security and efficiency in their operations. The target audience for Proton Pass for Business includes SMBs that face challenges related to password management, such as credential leaks, reused passwords, and unmanaged credential sharing. By consolidating passwords and other sensitive information into a centralized encrypted vault, businesses can enhance their security posture. The platform also allows for the safe sharing of access among employees and external partners, while implementing organization-wide security policies like two-factor authentication (2FA). Furthermore, it supports modern authentication standards, including passkeys and single sign-on (SSO), making it suitable for a variety of business environments. Key features of Proton Pass for Business include secure credential storage and encryption, which ensures that passwords, secure notes, and credit card details are stored in a zero-knowledge vault accessible only to authorized users. The centralized administrative control allows business administrators to deploy the solution across the organization, onboard or offboard users, enforce security policies, and monitor activity logs for compliance purposes. Additionally, the platform supports cross-device and platform access, enabling seamless credential management across web, desktop, and mobile devices. Proton Pass for Business also enhances collaboration and productivity through features such as secure sharing and vaults, which allow teams to create multiple encrypted vaults for projects or departments. The autofill function speeds up the login process by automatically entering credentials and two-factor codes, reducing the time spent logging into systems and minimizing manual errors. Moreover, the platform includes dark web monitoring to alert users if their credentials appear in data leaks, promoting proactive vulnerability management. The security and compliance benefits of Proton Pass for Business are significant, as the platform operates under Swiss privacy laws, which provide strong protections for business data. Its open-source nature and third-party security audits further enhance trust and transparency. By implementing robust access controls and encrypted storage, Proton Pass supports SMBs in meeting regulatory requirements such as GDPR. Overall, this solution provides a structured approach to reducing security risks, improving productivity, and centralizing password management within a secure environment.

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

I can easily generate passwords (especially on mobile) and organize them based on security level, so future contractors or employees can have access to only particular logins. The browser extension makes it very easy and fast to save new logins because it prompts me as soon as I create an account. Autofill works very well on my phone and desktop to easily input my username and password, or if it doesn't work for some reason then I can just copy and paste quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

The limit on the number of vaults. It's helpful to use vaults as categories or security groups, but I wanted to share one of my personal vaults to my business account because it had some high-level business passwords I wouldn't want to share with just anyone. But apparently 2 is the limit (which was not indicated anywhere) so it is extremely limited unless I upgrade to nearly double the price. The plan comparison didn't mention a limit on vaults, so it looked like Workplace Standard and Workplace Premium had the exact same password manager as Mail Essentials, which is probably not the case at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

I would never be able to remember any of these passwords and the usernames. I also use it to store important information like the EIN number, which also makes it really easy to just copy and paste. I depend heavily on this to run my business everyday. I know that when I hire my first employee, I would be able to easily give them access to all the logins they would need without worrying about giving them too much. "A genuinely secure Password Management solution."

5/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

Proton Pass for Business is built from the ground up to provide a safe environment for password management. It includes end-to-end encryption, single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, and access on both desktop and mobile. Within Proton’s suite of business products, it feels uniquely positioned, and compared with other password managers it comes across as a well-rounded solution—especially versus products that offer pseudo-solutions based on cloud storage that is touted as secure, yet has a history filled with hacks and breaches. Proton Pass also includes the ability to generate unique passwords, along with dark web monitoring. We love having this as part of the Proton for Business suite as the integration is flawless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

Proton Pass for Business is an ever evolving product that has gotten better over time while incorporation more and more safe and secure features. For my organization we have no dislikes of Proton Pass for Business as it continually evolves and improves with time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Proton Pass for Business provides a safer alternative for our business when compared to traditional password management products. The included dark web monitoring as well as Multi-Factor Authentication takes it a step further than most. Prior to using Proton Pass for Business we did not utilize one single solution. We had a hodgepodge of products ans provided no single path for our users to secure their passwords and log in information. This has decreased the risk of hackers invading and infringing on our corporate environemnt. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

I've used quite a few password apps and this is by far the most intuitive. It works well on all browsers (even my niche Zen browser, a child of Firefox. If you haven't used this btw, it's 100% worth a try). The passwords work on my phone, too. It isn't clunky, it's incredibly easy to update, and best of all, it isn't ANNOYING. Some password apps cover up important fields, making it difficult to navigate normally. Not the case with proton. Proton pass also stores addresses, cards, aliases, identities, and even custom fields. You can also have separate vaults, for personal, professional, and otherwise. I don't use this but it is a nice feature Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

Again, I wish I had something negative to say. I really am a critical person. You'll have to play around in settings, especially if you have an iPhone to make sure that proton pass is not only a recognized password manager, but your primary. Apple is sneaky like that. Otherwise, truly a top tier product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Passwords in different spots, companies I do not trust having my most personal information, encryption, one app that does it all, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My experience with Proton Pass"

3/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

What I like best about Proton Pass For Business is that it keeps all my passwords, tokens, and secure credentials encrypted and organized under one convenient app, making secure access and management effortless while maintaining zero-knowledge protection. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

What I dislike about Proton Pass For Business is the concern of having all my secrets, passwords, and tokens stored under one single company, creating a potential single point of failure despite its strong encryption. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Proton Pass For Business solves the problems of insecure password management, scattered credentials, and vulnerability to breaches by keeping all secure tokens and secrets fully encrypted and secured under one convenient app, which benefits me by greatly simplifying secure access, reducing risk, and giving me peace of mind across my entire business. "Privacy Focused"

5/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

What I like best about Proton Pass is how simple and seamless it makes managing passwords, logins, and secure notes across devices. The interface is clean and easy to use, but still packed with strong security and privacy-focused features. I especially appreciate the built-in email alias functionality and the fact that Proton’s business model is centered around protecting user privacy rather than monetizing user data. It feels trustworthy, polished, and thoughtfully designed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

There are still a few areas where the ecosystem could mature compared with older password managers, especially around some advanced autofill behavior and a handful of niche integrations. That said, development has been moving quickly, and the core experience already feels very solid. For me, the privacy-first approach more than makes up for the occasional missing convenience feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Proton Pass helps address password reuse and insecure credential management by making it simple to generate, organize, and securely store unique passwords for every account. It also reduces spam and supports privacy by letting me use email aliases. The biggest benefit for me is peace of mind: I can use strong, unique credentials everywhere without having to remember them manually, and I feel confident that my sensitive information is stored on a secure, privacy-focused platform. "Proton Business Suite"

5/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

Privacy focused company and not from Google are both points in its favour. The ease with which I can set up alias emails on online account creation with the browser plugins is really great. Password generation options are extremely flexible and easy to tweak to your needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

I’ve previously had some issues with browser plugins in the past not properly working depending on the browser being used (Brave, Firefox, LibreWolf, Opera, etc.) but haven’t had any issues more recently than early 2025.

The only feature I’d like to see is an option to add an upper limit to the number of characters rather than just a word count when generating a “memorable” style password for websites that have a lower character limit than normal Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

I no longer have passwords split between multiple Authenticators and password managers (Apple passwords, browser specific saved passwords, etc.). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Using Proton for a game studio startup"

4/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

It's convenient, so it saves some cost being bundled into the overall plan and is so far more trustworthy than certain other password managers that I used in the past which suffered major breaches. I also find it has no vendor lock in elements so it's fairly easy to access and migrate data to another service if needed. For a startup on a tight budget it does the job and is certainly better than having no password manager. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

I find it's not as polished as some of the competing password managers out there, with a lot of inconsistent behaviours (eg, doesn't always prompt to save passwords, frequently prompts to update passwords that have not been changed, and doesn't always correctly identify usernames) and difficulty in sharing login credentials between users within the organization. I also consider it a risk point having both email and and password management tied to a single service provider, but it's a manageable risk given Proton has a good track record with respect to their licensing and uptime. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

It's providing a reliable password management solution without adding extra costs or complexity, and without vendor lock in practices making it easy to migrate to a more scalable service if I should require it in the future as the business grows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I like privacy and Proton is all about privacy."

5/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

Off the bat, it was included in my Business subscription, so I saved money when I migrated from a different password manager. I am not a technical person and am still the administrator for things like this and the process was, just like the email migration, extremely tight and straightforward. Using Proton Pass for Business is quite easy and convenient and I like how it's just as easy on laptop or phone. I trust the company because they follow through on what they promise. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

When I am seeking a new password for a new account somewhere, sometimes it is confusing and once or twice I had to shorten the one Proton-generated password because it was too long for the account. And sometimes it seems to "fight" with Apple or Firefox for who will generate a newly-needed password. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

I do not like to invest my precious time, energy, and dollars in companies that treat their customers with contempt and use their customers for their own benefit. With Proton Pass for business, it actually feels like Proton is looking out for me and making my life better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Secure business password management that is easy to trust"

5/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

Proton Pass makes password management straightforward while keeping security and privacy at the center. I appreciate that it supports strong, generated passwords, passkeys, secure notes, aliases, and autofill across devices. It’s especially useful because it fits into the broader Proton ecosystem, so password management, encrypted email, and other privacy tools can work together under a single account. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

Some parts of the experience still feel like they’re catching up to more established password managers, particularly when it comes to advanced enterprise management, integrations, and occasional edge-case autofill behavior. For normal day-to-day use it works well, but power users or larger teams may still notice a few areas where the product feels newer and less mature than long-running competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Proton Pass addresses the challenge of securely managing passwords, logins, passkeys, and sensitive notes without depending on weak, reused passwords or leaving credentials stored in a browser. It helps me generate unique passwords for every service, retrieve them quickly across my devices, and lower the risk of my accounts being compromised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Not seamless, but pretty good"

4/5

What do you like best about Proton Pass For Business?

Much like Proton Mail, Proton Pass has its rough edges compared to more popular password managers, like NordPass. That said, transferring my passwords and info from another service was very simple, and it serves its function well 95% of the time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proton Pass For Business?

What Proton Pass \*should\* do when you go to a website you have login credentials for is give you a dropdown menu with all your credentials and auto-fill your username and password. There are certain websites I frequent with which Proton Pass just doesn't play nice. I have to manually go into Proton Pass, look up the login information for those sites, copy/paste it into the login fields, then move on. The information is still there, but it's not always as quick or smooth as it should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proton Pass For Business solving and how is that benefiting you?

Proton Pass allows me to avoid the choice between remembering a thousand different login/password combos or reusing the same info for every site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
