"Unified LLM Gateway with Powerful Observability and Reliability"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

What I like most about Portkey is its ability to unify access to multiple large language models through a single gateway. Instead of managing separate integrations for different AI providers, Portkey provides a consistent API along with powerful observability, caching, and reliability features. Unified API for working with multiple LLM providers. Comprehensive logging, tracing, and monitoring for AI requests Intelligent caching and fallback mechanisms that improve performance and reliability. Support for prompt management, versioning, and experimentation. Analytics that help optimize latency, costs, and model performance. For me, the most valuable feature is the observability dashboard. It provides detailed insights into AI requests, token usage, latency, and errors, making it much easier to debug and optimize AI-powered applications. The biggest benefit is improved developer productivity. Portkey simplifies LLM integration, enhances application reliability, and provides the visibility needed to build and maintain production-grade AI systems with confidence. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portkey?

The biggest drawback is the initial setup complexity. While Portkey simplifies long-term AI operations, configuring gateways, policies, and monitoring for a production environment requires some upfront effort. The platform has a learning curve, especially for teams that are new to AI gateways, observability, and prompt management. Configuring advanced routing, fallback strategies, and caching policies can take time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Portkey solving and how is that benefiting you?

Portkey solves the challenge of managing multiple large language model (LLM) providers in production. Instead of building separate integrations, monitoring systems, and fallback logic for each AI provider, Portkey offers a unified gateway with built-in observability, routing, caching, and reliability features. Provides a single API to connect with multiple LLM providers. Centralizes logging, tracing, and monitoring for AI requests. Improves application reliability through intelligent routing, retries, and fallback mechanisms. Helps optimize token usage, latency, and overall AI costs with detailed analytics. Simplifies prompt management and experimentation without changing application code. In my workflow, Portkey makes it much easier to build and maintain AI-powered applications. Instead of managing provider-specific integrations and troubleshooting each service independently, I can monitor requests, compare model performance, and switch providers when needed through one platform. The biggest benefit is better reliability and operational visibility. Portkey reduces development and maintenance effort while providing the insights needed to optimize performance, control costs, and deliver more stable AI applications in production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Portkey Brings Observability, Control, and Cost Clarity to LLMOps"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

What I like best about Portkey is that it brings structure to what is otherwise a very chaotic part of building AI products. When you're working with multiple LLMs, APIs, and edge cases, things break silently—and debugging becomes painful. Portkey acts as a unified gateway that gives you visibility, control, and reliability out of the box.

The biggest win for me is observability + control. Having centralized logs, request tracking, cost insights, and performance metrics in one place makes a huge difference. Instead of guessing what went wrong, I can actually see how prompts behave, where latency spikes happen, and how much each request costs.

It also simplifies multi-model integration. Rather than managing different APIs and retry logic across providers, everything runs through a single layer with built-in fallbacks, routing, and caching. That alone removes a lot of engineering overhead and lets me focus more on building features instead of infra.

Another big plus is cost optimization. Features like caching, usage tracking, and model routing help avoid unnecessary LLM calls and keep spend predictable, which is critical when scaling. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portkey?

What I dislike is that the platform can feel a bit complex initially. There’s a learning curve, especially if you’re new to LLMOps, and some areas like advanced analytics and documentation could be more polished. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Portkey solving and how is that benefiting you?

Portkey solves the problem of managing and scaling LLM integrations reliably. When building AI products, handling multiple model providers, debugging failures, tracking costs, and maintaining performance quickly becomes messy and time-consuming.

The biggest issue it addresses is lack of observability. Without a proper layer, it’s hard to understand how prompts are performing, where latency is coming from, or why certain responses fail. Portkey gives structured logs, request tracing, and metrics, which makes debugging and optimization much faster.

It also solves fragmentation across LLM providers. Instead of writing custom logic for each API, retries, and fallbacks, Portkey provides a unified gateway. This reduces engineering overhead and makes it easier to switch or combine models without rewriting core logic.

Another major problem is cost unpredictability. With usage tracking, caching, and smarter routing, Portkey helps control and optimize LLM spend, which becomes critical as usage scales. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best way to manage and scale LLM apps without losing control"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

We started using Portkey when our AI usage began getting messy across multiple models and providers. What stood out immediately was how it brings everything into one place without adding complexity.

The biggest win for us has been visibility. You can actually see what’s happening with every request — cost, latency, failures — which makes debugging and optimization way faster. The observability layer alone is worth it, especially when you’re running multiple use cases in production. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portkey?

The product is evolving quickly, which is great, but it also means some advanced analytics and customization options are still catching up. The UI can improve in a few areas. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Portkey solving and how is that benefiting you?

Another thing I really like is how easy it is to switch between models or add fallbacks without rewriting core logic. The unified API and routing save a lot of engineering time, and it removes the usual vendor lock-in headache.

Prompt management and guardrails are also well thought out. It’s not just a gateway — it actually helps you run AI systems more reliably with things like caching, retries, and policy controls built in.

Setup is straightforward, and the documentation is clear enough that you can get something running quickly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Dashboard and Analytics, Easy Integration"

3.5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

The standout feature is the dashboard and analytics, which make observability and monitoring straightforward. Implementation is simple thanks to the available APIs, and there is a wide selection of LLM models and providers. It integrates smoothly into daily monitoring and troubleshooting routines. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portkey?

The documentation falls short and often requires users to figure things out on their own. Additionally, price tracking does not work universally across all models, and for air-gapped setups, pricing updates must be done manually, which can lead to delays in getting accurate information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Portkey solving and how is that benefiting you?

This tool has been instrumental for my DevOps teams, providing deep observability and effective cost controls. It also strengthens reliability through features like routing, retries, and fallbacks, which together make our delivery process faster, more cost-efficient, and predictable for our product teams. Since adopting it, we have experienced quicker release cycles, a reduction in incidents, and more consistent spending across our RAG, ASR, and OCR services running on Kubernetes. "Portkey was the missing piece for production reliability - highly recommended"

4.5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

- Onboarding implementation is straightforward and is aided by good documentation

- Its helped us maintain a high degree of reliability for production systems by features including fallbacks

- The dashboard is helpful for daily observability with custom metadata filters and cost aggregates being particularly helpful

- Helpful support and excellent community

- The pace of adding new features is great Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Portkey?

The ability to export response data from the dashboard is a missing piece. We have received data exports by interfacing with the support team in the past but the manual process adds friction. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Portkey solving and how is that benefiting you?

Portkey helped us increase reliability and maintain regular observability of our LLM-based features that have been deployed to production. This helps us maintain promised SLAs for customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Portkey AI Gateway Proof of Concept to Production"

5/5

What do you like best about Portkey?

We have evaluated multiple AI Gateways for our organization needs, out of all Portkey AI Gateway stood out due to the following reasons

- Great support (dedicated and quick support even during the proof of concept phase)

- Straightforward to use the APIs, less time to use the various LLMs rather than modifying the end-application code to work with different models.

- Observability, the analytics feature is the best we always wanted to have which provides detailed insights into traces, errors, caching etc.,

- FinOps - every enterprise needs higher visibility into the consumptions and ability to distinguish between the applications, the option to get visibility based on metadata is the most welcome feature

- Time to enable a new model is much faster and the integration is seamless

- Deployment of the Gateway can be done in minutes so as the Disaster recovery which is essential for an enterprise.

- One thing I want to emphasize is that, the pace of adding new features, during the PoC phase, Portkey was able to deliver a lot of features and functionalities (workspaces, budget features, RBAC etc.,) we wanted and that helped us in the decision and supported the scalable design.
