## Pop!_OS Reviews
  ### 1. Clean, Polished, and Intuitive—A Smooth Daily Experience with Pop!_OS

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Estefania F. | Senior QA Engineer at Penpot by Kaleidos, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 17, 2026

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

What I like most about Pop!_OS is how easy it is to use and how clean and polished the interface feels. It provides a very smooth and intuitive experience, which makes it great to work with on a daily basis.

I’ve used other Ubuntu-based distributions before, and while I usually prefer KDE and its style, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed using Pop!_OS. It feels well-designed and focused on productivity without being overwhelming.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

One limitation I’ve encountered is around package availability and discoverability for more technical or niche tools. While the default repositories and the Pop!_Shop cover most common use cases, I’ve occasionally had to rely on adding external APT repositories, PPAs, or manually installing packages to get certain tools.

Compared to other distributions, this can add a bit more friction to the setup process, especially when working with specialized development or QA tooling. It’s not a major drawback, but improving access to a broader range of packages or streamlining repository management would enhance the overall experience.

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pop!_OS provides a simple, user-friendly, and well-designed operating system that makes everyday use very straightforward. It removes much of the complexity that can come with other Linux distributions, allowing me to focus on my work without spending too much time on setup or maintenance.

It has also been especially beneficial for extending the life of my older computer. The system runs smoothly and efficiently, giving the device a second life with a clean and modern experience.

**Reviewed by:** Sajid B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

I appreciate Pop!_OS for its seamless support of Nvidia drivers. Unlike many other distributions I've tried, which often made configuring drivers a hassle, Pop!_OS simplifies the process. Additionally, I value its tiling window manager features for their user-friendliness and configurability, which significantly enhances my workflow.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

Nothing too serious, but I've noticed that either my system or Pop!_OS itself takes a bit longer to boot up. Additionally, unlike some other operating systems, Pop!_OS doesn't have a booting logo by default. Moreover, I've encountered some slow scrolling issues in Neovim and VSCode, particularly when using different window managers like i3wm.

One of the most significant headaches in machine learning is GPU compatibility. I rely heavily on GPUs for training complex models quickly. Pop!_OS has seamlessly addressed this problem by providing excellent GPU support. It effortlessly syncs up with NVIDIA drivers and CUDA, eliminating the struggle I used to face when trying to configure GPU drivers manually. Now, I can focus on my machine learning tasks without worrying about GPU hiccups.

**Reviewed by:** Saksham S. | Lead, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 28, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

We have countless Linux distributions available; what makes Pop!_OS stand out is the "Out-Of-The-Box" experience it provides. Pop!_OS is a general use operating system that suits every user's need. If you are shifting from commercial Operating Systems like Windows or Mac OS, this open-source operating system would provide you with the best welcome experience with ease of installation and set up to being completely familiar with the whole operating system.

The Gnome desktop provides user with a friendly user interface, and the customizations of Pop!_OS makes the Gnome more lively. During installation, it also supports full disk encryption, which provides data integrity and security out of the box. Moreover, since new laptops come with a hybrid graphics setup, Pop!_OS comes with full support and graphics switching. The setup contains the Nvidia Drivers out of the box for a seamless installation experience.

All of these features make Pop!_OS the ideal Linux operating system for all needs, be it be gaming, development, productivity, or anything else.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

Pop!_OS is an amazing linux distribution. However, I personally feel like the default themes are a little bit dull and monotonic. You can always install new Gnome themes from internet, but the default out-of-the-box, vanilla feel is a little dull with muted orange shade accent color, which we can not change (unless using third party extensions.)

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Windows 11 is a resource-hungry operating system. I am a student developer, so most of the time I am engaged in studying, development and streaming, I made a smooth shift from Windows 11 to Pop!_OS which already feels like home. Pop!_OS uses a significantly lesser amount of my memory, than what was used in Windows 11, moreover Pop!_OS is lag-free and I feel like I am gaining the maximum performance out of my laptop through Pop!_OS.

  ### 18. PopOS is a very good OS i just started using.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

With our development environment wasn't able to use Windows when i worked remote from home. It was a way easier to use a Unix based system to setup the enviroment.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

The complexity of going from Windows to Linux for the first time is a mess. Unfortunately a lot of programs is not supported yet on Linux and you need to find a hacked way of using them on your machine.

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As i said, Linux is very good for developers since there is almost no documentation on the Windows CLI only the Unix based CLI. Windows is also a strict system so if i wanna change something, I cant do that. But on PopOS (Linux) i can do whatever i want to do.

  ### 19. Solid OS Distro

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Solution Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

It feels very lightweight, and with the latest version update to the shell, it feels like it has the majority of customizations needed to both be functional and aesthetically pleasing.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

Being Linux, it's still kludgy to get some basics working. Software installations are much more smooth than other distros, but still not as easy as Windows. Software availability and compatibility as a desktop OS is still a concern for mainstream desktop users.

**Recommendations to others considering Pop!_OS:**

If you're already in the Linux fold, it's a no-brainer. Lightweight, but not overly so (not Arch for example) well fleshed-out, with good underpinnings, nice look, really a solid choice.

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Personally, I'm using POP!_OS as a secure operating system. I have been able to setup the majority of the functions I need for work, and while using it on a System 76 Leemur Pro laptop, it runs fast and allows me to complete my work tasks both in the office and mobilly. The OS is solid, doesn't require maintenance often, is stable for day-to-day use, even allowing for the fact that I rarely reboot. The POP!_OS Store allows me to locate software needed and it provides a nice FOSS alternative to many Windows applications and utilities. Of the Linux Distros I've used from Red Hat way back in the 90s to Ubuntu and Debian.

  ### 20. My new default linux distro

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ivan P. | Frontend Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 08, 2021

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

As an Ubuntu user, I find it very friendly, and it brings the best out of my old machine. UI is IMHO better than the default Ubuntu, and it is easier to use. It has good variety of apps that could be installed because it is ubuntu based and supports both .deb and .flatpack packages, which is good thing.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

I have an older Dell laptop so that could be hardware-related, but from time to time I have issues with Bluetooth, especially after I return my machine from suspended mode. Everything else just works.

**Recommendations to others considering Pop!_OS:**

I fully recommend to at least try Pop!_OS from Live USB, I found it super easy to use and I think that it will be great even for the users who are using Linux for the first time. It had all the things I needed and support is great since it is based on Ubuntu - you can find solution for Ubuntu and it will certainly work on Pop!_OS too.

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

My machine works faster resulting in me being more productive. UI helps with easy way to change windows and opened apps.

  ### 21. Great Linux Distro if you are a NVIDIA Graphic Card User

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

Pop os is just like any other Linux distro but with NVidia driver out of the box, which was really helpful for me when most linux distros were having issues, Pop os also have important tools pre-installed. It is based on ubuntu so migrating from ubuntu was not a hassle.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

Despite having NVIDIA drivers out of the box, the OS sometimes freezes, but it is not often. Also the Custome GNOME UI can be improve, sometimes it feels old and Sluggish

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using POP os for data managements and server management, our Dev ops team use it as a daily driver here at bookingjini, we are also using it for machine learning and python processing.

  ### 22. Pop OS is awesome and is highly recommended to use for other users

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sudeep C. | Software Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

UI is the best thing in Pop OS, which is quite familiar, and users can even have windows style handling. The better implementation of Gnome and hardware support makes it more likable.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

Need gnome tweaks for minimizing and maximizing, which is not prevailed by default. It does not handle custom partition, and full disk encryption is not available either.

**Recommendations to others considering Pop!_OS:**

Just go and install it. It is easier to install and use, and hardware support is the best out there!

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

More hardware support peculiarly and better implementation of Gnome. Easy to install and use.

  ### 23. Best OS for developers

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

Pop OS is lightweight and very stable in dual booting. It is also visually appealing. And on top of all has separate installation media for Nvidia users.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gowtham v. | System Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2021

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

Pop OS is an intuitive and user-friendly OS, and for a non-Linux user like me, I feel like Pop OS is very capable, functional, and a beautiful Linux-based OS. As per my peers, it is fully tweakable, but I think out of the box, it works really well.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

My primary source of testing the operating system was to install the OS on VirtualBox on a Windows host, and it is a pain to get the Pop OS image to run in the VirtualBox and even then you might face issues while installing the OS. I was only able to get an OVA image from the Linux images repository with a preinstalled VM working on the VM manager.

**Recommendations to others considering Pop!_OS:**

Pop!_OS is the most user-friendly Linux distro and is highly tweakable. Highly recommeded for coding!

**What problems is Pop!_OS solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**What do you like best about Pop!_OS?**

The best thing about Pop!_OS is that it is a very fast Linux Distro. You can save a lot of your time by issuing commands from the terminal but firstly you need to master those shortcuts. It is better than Windows in speed and performance. I would highly recommend it to developers.

**What do you dislike about Pop!_OS?**

The bad thing about Pop!_OS is that it has a very slick user interface. I will not recommend it to those who want to use it for gaming or streaming purposes. Also, it does not work well with Asus computers.
