It is one of the most powerful tools for developing orthomosaic for UAV and satellite images. Further, it is very useful for getting different reflectance and orthmosaic rasters for each band. It is a very powerful 3D modeling and photogrammetry program. I've used it to create orthoimages, DEMs, and 3D models of archaelogical sites and areas. It is relatively easy to use and allows you a good amount of control over parameters. If you are new to photogrammetry, Pix4D is easy to learn and has default settings that allow you to make high quality deliverables. Processes occur at intervals, so you are able to make modifications or pick up where you left off if you need to. One of the best features is the ability to easily add Ground Control Point data, drastically improving your models accuracy. It is a desktop application and runs eveything on your PC which I prefer over to some of the cloud based services. At the end of processing, it gives you PDF with a report of your project. The cost. At present we do not perfrom enough photogrammetry to warrant the high price. But it is comparable to other full feature programs. Like most applications, they require you to purchase licenses on a monthly subscription service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
