What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I really like the portfolio view dashboard of Orion Advisor Technology that allows us to see our firm data and client data in an easy format. I also like to use this portfolio view in all of our client meetings to share performance data, allocation data, and transaction data. It's helpful for RMD and Capital gain info and for estimating income for our clients. We do all of our trading in Eclipse. The models are stored there, and trading is quite seamless. I've also liked the tax loss harvesting tool and am looking forward to utilizing the focused rebalancing tool after learning about it at Ascent. Orion Advisor Technology saves us time and presents a lot of good data that we can use with our clients. Eclipse allows us to manage hundreds of accounts, and we are able to handle portfolio management with ease. The visual format of the data is helpful since clients tend to be more visual than dealing with rows and rows of data. The initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I love that Orion Advisor Technology is always willing to listen to our thoughts and ideas and continue to build upon them. I value the Portfolio Audit feature highly because I'm big into data, and if the data isn't accurate, you can't trust the results it gives in other areas of the database. What do you dislike about Orion Advisor Technology?

I find that all data isn't cohesively displayed throughout the entire ecosystem. For instance, there could be data in one area such as Portfolio Audit, but it doesn't show up in the Client portal. Also, if I supplement data like beneficiaries or product underlying data, I'd like it to show in the UI at either the firm level or for a client view like the client portal. Additionally, I felt the onboarding wasn't great, to be honest. It was all over the place and there was no accountability on either side. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I love the functionality available within Orion Advisor Technology and the ability to customize our usage based on our firm's workflows. It can be nice to have access to the SMEs directly, and I appreciate not having to go through a single resource every time. I love the chat feature within the platform, so I have a record of my conversation. What do you dislike about Orion Advisor Technology?

We could use more help with the Integrations piece. A developer resource that we could leverage as we run into issues. It can take a long time to get responses on those things. Billing is a mess, but part of that is because of our internal business rules and processes. I would like to have more regular access to someone on the development team that could help us troubleshoot. Oftentimes tickets need to bounce between a number of different parties before I get a proper response. Billing could be more flexible and just a better workflow in general. What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I use Orion Advisor Technology for client experience through the portal, reporting capabilities, trading, billing, and data inquiries. I find it a very easy-to-use platform that makes trading easy and the process efficient. I like its integration with Redtail CRM, ensuring clean data throughout the platform with only needing to change data in one spot for updates across the platform. I appreciate the ease of use and user interface. I also value the ability to design and run queries custom built for our specific needs. What do you dislike about Orion Advisor Technology?

I don't like the client portal. Clients do not like the portal layout/customization. The Gain/Loss page is clunky and users need to scroll to see everything within the table. I also think that the portal would be more customizable, but it is a bit of a letdown. I want to improve it by allowing firms more customization within each table and the ability to modify headers of categories. For example, we use the risk category as investment themes, but the portal inaccurately says risk category. I like the audit logs in Orion Advisor Technology; they're my favorite feature because they keep people accountable and reduce the chances of getting thrown under the bus. What do you dislike about Orion Advisor Technology?

Client portal is our biggest pain point. Our clients are primarily custodied at Charles Schwab and most prefer not to use the portal. The cost basis information is lacking details and navigation is tough on older-less tech savvy-clients. They particularly complain about having to scroll left and right through a box that takes up half the screen. The main difficulty was organizing data and getting it to upload. What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I really like the robust technology that Orion Advisor Technology offers. Since switching to Orion a few months ago, I have discovered a few tools that I've really liked so far. The reporting has been phenomenal, and there's an RMD tool within Orion that has greatly helped streamline our process at the office. These tools have reduced the human time needed for reporting, specifically for R&D, by improving accuracy. It's nice having software like Orion that we can trust. The initial setup was very easy, and Orion seems to be very adviser-friendly. The included reporting is very beneficial, and I like that we've been able to leverage the Orion platform to improve not only our internal use of Summit Wealth but also the client-facing aspects. What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

I love the chat feature in Orion Advisor Technology. The customer service is personable, and I often talk with the same representative, which is great. They follow up with chats, phone calls, and emails, helping me with client needs and walking me through the forms, especially if it's something new. It's awesome. I also appreciate how Orion helps us interface better with clients and their investment accounts, seeing client accounts more quickly for planning. The behavioral finance system Orion offers is great, allowing me to send invites for risk assessments easily. I love how Orion works well with Redtail, preventing duplication and making data transfer seamless. I think I would like to see reports easier. Sometimes it's hard for me to break down client assets and where they're at. I need something that's more visually easy to understand. Reports should be intuitive to quickly see what's come in, what hasn't, or any changes in client portfolios. It feels like that's not as intuitive right now. I've had a strong experience with Orion Advisor Technology. The platform is pretty robust, especially when it comes to portfolio accounting, reporting, and billing. I appreciate the flexibility around fee structures and householding, which is a major advantage for growing advisory firms. The integrations with multiple custodians add to its strength, and the core systems make it reliable, serving as an operational backbone. I find the householding feature challenging when it comes to addressing households automatically. I feel like there should be a solution to connect the addresses directly to the clients. An ongoing survey to the client to ensure the information in Orion is correct would be helpful. Also, an ongoing solution to ensure the right disclosures get to the client on a regular basis as profiles are updated would be beneficial. What do you like best about Orion Advisor Technology?

Orion is truly a one-stop shop for a financial planning and investment firm. If I could start our firm all over again, I would use Orion for everything right out of the box. Instead of trying to figure out how your tech stack integrates, paying separate costs, and troubleshooting issues across multiple tools, Orion keeps it all in one clean package.

I used to say that if Orion only had an in-house CRM, they would be nearly perfect—and now they do, and it’s Redtail, even. Every single person I chat with is willing to share their screen and train me on how to troubleshoot and solve whatever issue I’m running into. Way to go, Orion—keep it up! What do you dislike about Orion Advisor Technology?

The only thing that really makes me cringe is having to import Communities fees into our monthly billing. More documentation and shared best practices could help advisors use the system more effectively.
