There are different functions that help different part of the process, and makes the whole. **What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct?** The software and interface seems very outdated and needs frequent updating which is not straightforward. It's easy to put them into a model portfolio to show advisors how various managers / strategies pair and to drill down to asset class, sector, and country exposure. **What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct?** It's got SO many little things that can go wrong and result in a blank table or chart. Net return vs gross return (is it in a fund structure or not?). Just the sheer amount of time we spend troubleshooting almost makes it not worth it. If Direct didnt have as many managers as it does, we would have moved elsewhere already. Presentation Studio is also very dated - we'd love more options / more updates to make our marketing materials look better. Customer support can be glacial. We spent months going back and forth about a categorization for one of our strategies because Direct customer support wouldn't get back to us and we had to repeatedly email them to get a reply. **What problems is Morningstar Direct solving and how is that benefiting you?** It allows us to get information on a lot of managers / strategies which arent available elsewhere, especially for strategies that are private vehicles and rely on the manager to report the performance and where a publicly traded vehicle / fund isnt available. ### 8. Great customer support. Easy to slice and dice fund data to analyze all aspects of mutual fund. Decent wealth management portfolio analytics, great way to monitor model portfolios. Direct gives me the tools and data to look at funds and portfolios through many different lenses, both holdings and returns based. It even has a risk model. Examples include linking investment lists, custom models/portfolios into performance reporting and presentation studio. I can create and manage my reports, pretty easily, as well as share them so my co-workers can view and edit my reports as well with read/write capabilities. **What do you dislike about Morningstar Direct?** Customer service is quick; however, having to actually call on the phone for help is inconvenient at times.
