Additionally, its open-source nature encourages innovation without the costs of proprietary licenses. **What do you dislike about OpenStack Cloud Management?** The steep learning curve and the complexity in configuration, which can lead to high initial costs of time and resources; also, the user interface and insufficient documentation are often undervalued aspects. **What problems is OpenStack Cloud Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** the problems in integration can be an initial challenge when managing, and although ServiceNow offers advanced ITSM capabilities, they do not always align correctly with the native flows of OpenStack without adjustments. ### 2. It has a wide range of features (dare I say more than those available on similar commercial platforms) such as true multi-tenancy with network isolation, distributed routing, container support, automation support with ansible, puppet, chef, support for bare-metal, a wide variety of services such as LBaaS, FwaaS, VPNaaS, etc. If you have the technical capabilitiy to understand and operate Openstack, you essentially get a full featured cloud management software for free. **What do you dislike about OpenStack Cloud Management?** Complexity and reliability. Openstack is complex to understand and implement. Troubleshooting is difficult unless you have the technical manpower and skillsets. Openstack uses rabbitmq as its primary messaging component and we've had several issues with rabbitmq (some due to operator error, some due to underlay network instability issues, etc.). But my beef with rabbitmQ is that is does not recover easily once the problem is fixed. Once rabbitmq is down the entire platform is down. **What problems is OpenStack Cloud Management solving and how is that benefiting you?** I run a massive bare-metal Openstack cloud. We need bare-metal since GPUs mostly still need baremetal (even though vGPUs have started arriving). Openstack with Ironic serves our purpose well. We also use Openstack VMs to manage higher level SaaS services for some users. Openstack provided us with a freely available open source software that we could put in use straight away for our application needs. We evaluated other similar cloud orchestration platforms for a private cloud but quickly concluded that only Openstack provided us all the features we needed (VMs, containers and primarily bare metal). We now run Openstack in several DCs and have a total capacity of over 10K nodes. ### 3. Gives the developers and users an encouragement to use this and customise this interface according to their requirement. Allows an organisation to have a greater control over their data and infrastructure. **What do you dislike about OpenStack Cloud Management?** To manage a vast amount of data, Openstack cloud may require a setup of bigger disk free storage on your servers. It helped to keep our costs for infrastructure reasonable, since we only ran VMs on demand. ### 8.
