**Reviewed Date:** July 02, 2021

Easy to update/creat new webpages. It's easy to create SEO friendly pages on it.

The history of the users who modify particular webpages is not always updated.

**What problems is OpenCms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We can easily maintain our webpages in CMS now.

  ### 4. OpenCms absolutely recomendable CMS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jose Ignacio R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenCms?**

Easy and fast to learn. Allows to develop websites really fastly. The use of Content Definitions was very useful. Many interesting features, easy to understand and reuse. Summing up: I really recommend the product.

**What do you dislike about OpenCms?**

I had to extend the BackOffice in order to manage our contents and to add new functionalities to the website, and at that time, I needed help from forums and community in order to learn how to do some advanced details. After solving everything the result was great, and we used this knowledge in further projects.

**What problems is OpenCms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create websites with many posibilities simplified; multilanguage, multisite, reuse of styles, easy to organize contents, structure, and many other aspects.

  ### 5. There are simply no use cases in 2020 where OpenCms is the right tool

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 17, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenCms?**

Not much really, although i haven't been working with OpenCms for some time now. In the past, the best feature, although it wasn't really appealing for me personally, was OpenCms being Java-based, which was a driving factor in adopting it in a non-skilled team of Java developers who wouldn't have been able to learn a new language.

**What do you dislike about OpenCms?**

- The fact that there are several better, more lightweight options
- A generally high barrier to entrance to become productive working with OpenCms
- Poor support for development tools

**Recommendations to others considering OpenCms:**

It's a legit choice only if sticking to Java is a binding constraint. Otherwise, there are several different solutions based on different technologies that solve the same problem better.

**What problems is OpenCms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I haven't been using OpenCms for a long time now. In the past, it was used to build an intranet for a large company and the only benefit was that it was Java-based and it didn't require lazy members of the development team to learn a new language

  ### 6. Not worth the time and effort to work with outdated technology.

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fahad A. | Consultant | Front End Developer - React, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 03, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenCms?**

not much to like. Very restrictive in the way to create custom content type and a pain to deploy to local servers or cloud

**What do you dislike about OpenCms?**

low productivity, restrictive in templates, enterprise feel of the software with no real productivity or security gains.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenCms:**

Contentful, Strapi for self hosted version. CraftCMS, ButterCMS. even WordPress Multi-site will be more beneficial.

**What problems is OpenCms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

we were hosting our company intranet at that time.

  ### 7. Good platform for cms websites contents like news, articles etc

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Lustre J. | Software engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenCms?**

The ability to create a one time template and then spawning multiple websites using the template
1. Open source
2. Based on Java
3. Content Authoring
4. Permission Management
5. Template Creation
6. Version Control

You can invest once to make the website template and you will needed few minutes to made to change the website content multiple times.

**What do you dislike about OpenCms?**

The version that we used does not support the HTML5, CSS3, so we have used old style CSS and basic HTML functions. As per the documentation the latest version of OpenCms supports HTML5 and CSS3 and all that.
Few improvement i would like to see in OpenCms:
1. The text editor can be better
2. The code editor can be better
3. Approval process is not there
4. Document management is also missing

**Recommendations to others considering OpenCms:**

If you want to create a one instance website, then OpenCMS may not be right for your requirement.
If you have a requirement to create a website template or a page template or a product page template then OpenCMS is the right platform.
Example:
News - A news article can be render in a same page but the content will be different, like the article, the article image, the hyperlinks in the article.
Product page - An e-commerce website will display the product in a product page, so it will be the same page for all the products

**What problems is OpenCms solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The project that we worked on requires different content at regular intervals or on different occasions. Using OpenCMS platform, we created a website template where we are able to configure the content of the websites, look and feel of the websites.
Then websites applications were created for each occasion and then content and configurations were provided the values to each of these website app. and we publish the app at the particular time
