"Simple and fast PLM light with CAD connector"

What do you like best about OpenBOM?

Out of the Box, yes, i said it and really simple to use. Simple workflows and and easy setup of numbering schemes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OpenBOM:

Get a free trial, it's really worth to play around with it, especially with the great CAD integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpenBOM solving and how is that benefiting you?

No need to buy an expensive and time consuming PLM and it can grow with you and can export to a PLM if needed. In addition we use some ERP functionality (orders, warehouse status). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpenBOM?

It helps organize BOMs in ways that is accessible for an end user. It has one of the best and most seamless integrations with our CAD. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpenBOM?

I didn't really see any value add using this over directly linking to SAP. It didn't seem to be worth the price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Hi Bradlei,

Thank you for your feedback and review — especially your comments about CAD integrations.

While I agree that SAP offers a strong solution for a specific group of customers, most OpenBOM users — particularly in the SMB space — are not using SAP. For them, OpenBOM delivers a seamless engineering-to-purchasing workflow.

As for SAP solutions, I’m not convinced that connecting CAD directly to SAP solves the broader challenges of managing multiple BOM types, engineering configurations, and revision control. And of course, CAD integration with SAP typically isn’t free either.

There are nuances — the devil is always in the details.
