## Duro Reviews
  ### 1. Easy to use and incredibly capable. My go-to recommendation

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam H. | Product Design Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

- No software to install or manage
- Cheaper than the competition
- Easy to share URLs to specific files with team members
- Plugins for common programs
- Responsive support

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

- Small learning curve before you can get up to speed
- Cannot limit sharing to specific files for specific vendors
- Difficult to use multiple accounts with the same email (you need to add "+company name" to your email as a workaround . No big deal though)

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Commonly our clients use google sheets or excel to manage their Bill of Materials and upload files to google drive or dropbox. This means it is very difficult to ensure everyone has access to the latest and approved versions of all files. We needed a single source of truth we can share internally and with vendors to ensure there are no inconsistencies. Duro made it easy to transition over and they have been very responsive to our feature requests. They have plug-ins available for major Mechanical and Electrical CAD programs which makes importing the latest files simple and intuitive. Since the program is online only I can run it anywhere, including on my Chromebook when I am traveling. It is a fantastic partner program to Onshape.

  ### 2. User friendly and easy to use PLM software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio R. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

The fact that I can keep all the documentation of the hardware in one place and manage the different stages of the hardware

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

Still has a few things to improve, namely regarding the ECO management

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing documentation and hardware products lifecycle

  ### 3. Duro is perfect for a scaling startup

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Industrial Automation | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

Duro is very fast, very easy to use. A good thing about it is that it doesn't force you to use all features at once and so as you scale your operations, you can start using more features. It doesn't get in the way.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

Navigation on the website could be improved, sometimes it's not clear where you can find some things.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We're using Duro to track and manage our component database. The approvals for Engineering/Manufacturing change orders are very useful and force us to have good processes. Duro also allows us to check what version of each component were being used at a certain time and this has helped very much in the past.

  ### 4. Clean user interface and great implementation package from the Duro Team

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dorly B. | Program Manager - Hardware Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

The platform as a whole is very intuitive and adaptable to multiple ways of working. Robust error checking loop that helps the user catch mistakes prior to importing important information on the system. The sandbox feature is very useful especially when you are new to the software and want to practice uploads or edits prior to working directly in the system. Fantastic support from the Duro Team on any queries. The new Component variant feature is a game changer and makes creating new products extremely easy.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

It would be helpful to be able to have the sandbox copy all existing components in the library for a "real trial" environment. There are some small bugs that would make the platform much more enjoyable to use (having to log on to the web client every time, not being able to upload more than 100 components in spreadsheets at a time).

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Moving our official manufacturing and costing information out of spreadsheets to one source of truth. Duro gives everyone in our organization the ability to access the information in a clean and efficient way

  ### 5. Flexible and Evolving Platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin D. | Director of Product Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

The team at Duro is constantly iterating on their product, coming up with improvements and reducing numbers of clicks almost weekly. The support team is also incredibly responsive and willing to help.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

If you plan to bring over any legacy files, utilizing Duro's implementation program is a must. They are able to do amazing things adapting the software to the way you work, but those customizations are not available on the user end.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We implemented Duro to move out of Google Sheets and into a system that can handle Child SKUs and act as a single source of truth. Duro handles this flawlessly without bogging down our processes.

  ### 6. Growing software with a lot to offer

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 26, 2021

**What do you like best about Duro?**

The customer support for Durolabs is unparalleled. They really make an effort to help you understand their features and connect you with resources that will best help your needs as a company.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

Some features are yet to come. Not a bad thing, I'm looking forward to seeing them implemented.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am solving document and vendor organization. It's much easier to pool my CAD, drawings and release documents into Duro and chose what vendors see. Plus, it makes it easier for me to find an older file I had been working on.

  ### 7. Duro PLM an excellent starting platform

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Anthony M. | Lead Mechanical Engineer, Consumer Electronics, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

- Automated part creation based on part number.
- User friendly interface and UX for product management, part management and change order management
- Cloud based so in-sync across all systems
- Easy to add new users and vendors to the Duro platform as needed
- Multiple distributor information automatically added and can be easily updated for procurement

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

- CAD platform integration is a work in progress
- Limited tutorials and missing certain desirable features like currency conversion
- Custom part numbering categories not supported by default (but possible through a support request)
- BOM exports do not support customized templates and are difficult to interpret with the default template

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

As with any new platform it is best to start with a trial project and evaluate if this platform meets your specific requirements.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Duro helps our company keep record of all unique parts and current revisions of each component used.
It is our source of truth for manufacturing PO's and allows non-engineers to check all necessary data for procurement and communicate effectively with vendors without the need for an additional CAD seat.

  ### 8. Early adopter and power user

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 13, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

It is a PLM designed by hardware developers for hardware developers.

It is quick and easy to get set up, modify and keep up to date, and you don't need a programmer or consultant to do it.

It also doesn't require a huge cash outlay to get installed and a large monthly fee. The pricing is very reasonable and the value extremely high, such that a small company can cost effectively deploy the Duro PLM solution from the start of the first development process. There is no need to wait until BOM and life-cycle management becomes a problem to be able to justify the purchase, by which time the migration process is probably problematic and cumbersome. A company can implement good processes and systems from the start without reservations.

Duro have hit a home run with this PLM solution and filled a gap in the market that had been abandoned by most other solution providers. It is the ideal small and medium sized company PLM solution.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

I would love to see Duro implement more complimentary features with in the PLM and BOM management solution, such as integration to more inventory management tools, integration with Quick Books Online, a working capital requirement calculating tool for supply chain and manufacturing, waterfall report generator for purchasing planning, etc. I know many of these features are in the works or on the product road-map, and they will make the overall utility and value of the system that much better.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The 2 greatest value points I get from Duro are vendor planning and cost roll up management.

I have loaded thousands of components in to Duro by manufacturer part number, and I can nearly instantly get all of current packaging options, current pricing, current availability and lead time information, and distributor availability inform for virtually every major distributor (Digi-Key, Avnet, Arrow, Newark, McMaster-Carr, Mouser, etc.) This has been a huge help in scrubbing BOMs for optimizing cost, purchasing strategies, lead time management, etc.. The system pays for itself every month in what we save through better purchasing planning.

Duro also allows us to know exactly what the cost of our BOMs are at any given time, including the breakdown by subsystems, so we are able to plan pricing and effectively, strategically target specific cost reductions during the design process. When you know clearly what is driving cost, you can effectively target your hot spots.

These features have only become more valuable to us in the time or the Corona Virus and new tariffs, as supply chains have been intermittently interrupted and disrupted. Instant, up-to-date knowledge from the Duro tools regarding your key suppliers is lifesaving.

  ### 9. Easy to learn and use, excellent functionality and flexibility.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Scott S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 24, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

It is easy to use and covers the basic needs for tracking products. It is also continually improving, with new features and functionality coming relatively often. The outstanding customer service is extremely helpful, and makes the software flexibility. changes and adjustments can be made for custom needs. Training time for additional users is hours, not days or weeks.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

For me there is not alot to dislike. It could use additional functionality in some areas, such as ECO preparation, but I believe most of these areas are being worked on, and are coming.

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

Use the software. Establish how it fits with the company needs and operational philosophy. Ask alot of questions about how it fits, and regarding how the company/software will move forward. on't just assume it's not a match. Be willing to think about and explore solutions, you may find that it is a better match then you thought.
Be flexible. Being to ridged may keep you from the best solution.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The number of components and assemblies we use is over 6000. Duro has made managing these much easier. I have been able to clean up the library, delete duplicates, and improve sourcing information for purchasing. Tracking product configurations has improved as well. For us changes come very fast, and I like having a history of these changes.

  ### 10. Great for Hardware Startups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Catarina V. | VP Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

I learned that explaining the benefits of a BOM management tool to a small hardware development team can easily become a very difficult task. Who has the time to document the process when you are running towards your goal, right? Duro does a great job of proving a great user experience to its users which contrasts a great deal with other products that I have used. Ultimately the best product will be the product you want to use every single day.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

My product development team has been using Duro for a few months only. We will be interested in finding out how well it works as the company scales up exponentially.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We rely on Duro to manage our BOMs, keep track of product and component versions but also deal with ECOs.

  ### 11. Great Tool, Minor challenges

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Moses W. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 11, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

Creating and referencing a Bill of Materials is intuitive. Great to also have photos and documentation available when reviewing parts. Interface is also easy to read.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

Would be nice to be able to filter between Top Level, Sub-Assy and Individual components, would simplify searching for a specific items and not have to scroll through entire list. Ability to enlarge an image as well.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consolidating BOMs and creating a source of truth. The program has been helpful in that we don't have to rely on excel spreadsheets and allows us methods to add a status or state of any particular BOM or part. Easy access to part descriptions and assemblies.

  ### 12. What Small companies need for PLM

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joel I. | Welding Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

The duro platform is light weight and feature rich enough without overwhelming or bogging down the process. We have used it for our R&D engineering team and it satisfy the chasm of absolute nothing and very heavy and unweidly PLM/PDM systems meant for large enterprises.

We find the solidworks integration and webapp workflow both do wonders to speed up our processes and provide the necessary structure.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

At this moment I cannot think of anything.

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

If you are a small engineering firm and you have no PLM solution. Use Duro or similar now, the switching cost and headaches as the organziation get bigger are never worth it.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Duro helps our engineering team provide the necessary structure for lifecycle management. Being a startup means there are often new discoveries and pivots and the traditional philosophy of letting engineers manage their own work product becomes inefficient as we scaled. Duro gave us a single repository, naming schema and workflows to ensure we don't redevelop, lose or send the wrong part out for quote.

  ### 13. By far the most bang for your buck PLM on the market!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Steve B. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 22, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

Duro is intuitive and easy to use. We were able to get up and running within just a few days. Duro makes managing our product so easy allowing our engineers to focus on what they do best.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

I am yet to find something that I am unsatisfied with. For the price, you cannot find a better PLM.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to quickly transition from a spreadsheet to a full-featured PLM within days. Sometimes this can take weeks or even months. A startup of our size is usually stuck on spreadsheets for much longer, but the price point of Duro makes the transition much more achievable at a much earlier stage.

  ### 14. Simple and Useful Interface

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon K. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

Simple Interface, modern look and easy to use. I like the ability to add pictures to items and add multiple sources to those items. If a manufacturer part number is recognized by Duro it will auto populates the sourcing fields for you which is a huge time saver for entering component info.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

Limits to data being entered into system, (no duplicate descriptions) , No way to reject an ECO and make changes that were discovered during the review (New ECO needs created). Some learning curve needed to understand workflows (not intuitive enough)

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

If you are starting out and need a solution to dictate your product structure this is the tool to use. If you already have existing product structure, part numbers and rev scheme it becomes more difficult. However, support has been very helpful in navigating our specific issues and still able to provide a solution for our specific company

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeps us more organized than our google sheet method and has a built in process to make changes to parts in the database. We seem to have less error when communicating to our CM's which gets us to market quicker.

  ### 15. Good, but could be better

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joshua M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 14, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

It is available as a browser app, so I can work from anywhere.
It automatically searches for parts data and prices when I enter the MPN.
There is a history of changes and can always look at previous versions.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

BOMs are not exported in a very nice format and are not as customizable as I'd like.
It does not have a PDF reader for part drawings.

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

Like with any tool, how useful it is for you depends on your needs. Talk to support.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to keep track of all of our parts and create PNs and revisions.

  ### 16. An Electrical Engineers Perspective On Using Duro

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Electronics | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 16, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

1) Bill of material management. It is a great system to use as a vault of truth for bill of materials/builds. It proves itself exceptionally useful for cross collaboration between teams (specifically small teams) for quoting and reviewing designs.

2) Status flags. Having status/error flags to indicate incomplete quotes has been very helpful for tracking down items in our BOM that we are either missing quotes or have not yet been updated.

3) Auto generating new CPNs for parts/components. We have many custom parts and off the shelf parts in our build. I was expecting most part generation to be entirely manual. However, the Duro database search feature for adding new parts (From Digikey or McMaster) automatically is probably one of my favorite features. Once I started using this feature I was able to be more diligent on keeping the database updated.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

1) It is another database of sorts that needs to be managed. Our team goes through periods where it is very accurate and periods where it falls behind. Unless you have someone dedicated to keeping it updated it will just be another "item" that needs to be managed. This can feel like a chore at times, but ultimately I think it's a necessary step for any growing company doing product development.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Duro was incredibly helpful to get our team organized BOMs that focus on product/part hierarchy. This made reviewing existing designs and searching for high cost items very very easy. I was able to save our company about $50k, by re-designing parts and finding alternative suppliers, within the first month of using Duro.

  ### 17. Excellent Product for Startups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Julia M. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 23, 2020

**What do you like best about Duro?**

I like how simple the GUI is and how intuitive the software is our team picked it up in a matter of minutes. I also really enjoy how responsive the software team is.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

I dislike that there is not an inventory system yet - I know they are working hard to get this completed.

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are currently working with them to get a robust life cycle management tool that is tailored to our business. I realized that the tool is extremely customizable and can work for anything you are trying to accomplish.

having one place of truth for mfg database is important. being able to have different users able to access this database from anywhere quickly and easily (our team is US and Asia based) without special software is a huge benefit.

**What do you dislike about Duro?**

not much, so far it has met all of our needs. We have even been able to have feature requests achieved

**Recommendations to others considering Duro:**

If you are looking for an easy to adopt PLM tool that can grow as your organization grows, Duro deserves a serious look

**What problems is Duro solving and how is that benefiting you?**
