Not exactly the most advanced set of features available out there. It's still easy to use and not much learning involved, but may be the advanced features are primarily what push you to use an app for publishing blog posts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The software is free to use which is the best thing about it. the software is very light and barely affect the performance of your operating system. open live writer supports a wide range of blogs including but not limited to WordPress, Typepad, and blogger. the software is really easy to use, you just have to install the software and point it to your blog along with your admin credentials, the software will automatically connect to your blog and you're done. you can then create posts on the software which looks similar to the WordPad and then publish it from your desktop. sometimes the software will fail to identify the blog type and the way into the root files automatically, then you need to find the PHP files associated with your domain manually and link it which is a lot of pain. there is a lot of limitation in formatting in the software and I ran into issues with it multiple times. this service os not like a plugin for your blog that will post automatically but you have to give it your admin credentials in order to work which won't be comfortable for all the users, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Open Live Writer is one of my favourite tools when it comes to editing and distributing blog posts. I used this program when I was blogging a couple of years ago (I no longer do that), so I am quite familiar with it. I was really surprised to see that there was an easy program that allowed me to edit and customize my blog posts before publishing them on my website. I liked the fact that you could directly link to WordPress, which is what I was using for my website. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Since this is an older program, there haven’t been too many new versions. Even when I was using it a couple of years ago, I found that new updates were rare. It would be nice to see some improvements on the interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
