The compatibility with blogging platforms of Open Live Writer feels like it is old school. It has limited compatibility with many of the newer and more widely used content management systems like WordPress and Squarespace. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When I began blogging, Open Live Writer was quite refreshing and a great tool to use. It was great that one could write posts in a comfortable familiar atmosphere of the desktop, for instance, in Word. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

At least, the compatibility of Open Live Writer with blogging platforms looks outdated. He does not give support to many of the new and self hosted platforms that have cropped up in the recent past. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The best feature about it is it provides the offline mode of the editor to write the blog and the content. It provides the scheduling feature to schedule the blog for posting. Open live Writer makes it easy to connect to and create posts for a number of blogs right from one interface. The interface uses a simple ribbon UI similar to that of previous versions of Windows and should be familiar to most users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The glaring thing about this software is the lack of updates. While the UI is easy to use, it is a bit dated and has not been updated with a more modern look and feel. It still maintains the previous Windows Live app look as it was originally part of that suite of apps. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It does what it promises to do - a simple offline editor that lets you write blog posts for your blog and post them when you are again online. I love that you can add multiple blogs and save your posts as drafts. It easily allows you to add images and videos without any hassle, and I sometimes feel it is actually better than the wordpress block editors. It also allows you to customize the HTML code and see its changes in real time. It also displays how your posts will look with your blog theme, which is a very helpful feature. Your posts can also be categorized and tagged. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface is old-style and rather unimpressive. Adding private blogs can be a chore as you'll have to first make your blogs public, then login to the software and go back to your blog and make it private. Your blog posts are saved in Open Live Writer's own format, so you cannot access it outside the software unless you copy paste the text. Also, the HTML text is unformatted and messy with no line breaks, so it can get difficult to edit the HTML source code directly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I write my entries in a pleasant way, since the interface is friendly, pleasant and very easy to use. I keep my work organized, clean and without fear of publishing wrong information. I write, I label, I place images, links and when I have everything ready I simply publish the content in my blogs (WordPress and Blogger). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is a great help application, easy to use and it allows me to work with different blogs in an orderly and organized way, I can not ask for more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The interface allows me to write and edit my articles in a much more pleasant way than with the blog platform and I do not have to write in Word to later copy in the blog, insert the image and publish, which was what I used to do. The Open Live Writer platform has a design very similar to Microsoft Word but with tools that allow me to insert images, videos, tables, etc., and work previewing it to later publish it from the same platform.
