What I love most about Microsoft is Copilot in Outlook and Word. It can summarize long email threads in seconds and help me draft replies without having to start from scratch—honestly, it saves me at least an hour a day. The drag-and-drop integration across Teams, OneDrive, and Office feels seamless, and I don’t find myself losing files anymore. Performance-wise, Windows 11 has been surprisingly snappy on my older laptop, and the live captions in Teams have been an unexpected blessing during noisy remote meetings. The AI doesn’t feel gimmicky; it actually understands context, which makes me trust it more and use it more confidently. Support can be hit-or-miss, but the onboarding tips built into the apps have made setup feel painless. For the price of a Microsoft 365 subscription, the ROI feels undeniable—it’s become the backbone of my daily work.

What I dislike most is the fragmented user experience—especially between the Settings app and the old Control Panel in Windows. **What do you like best about Microsoft?**

Tons of products and solid AI integration. Microsoft 365 is very useful, and I like having CoPilot in Outlook. It’s also convenient to connect my Microsoft account to my hardware and product keys. The Xbox integration is a nice bonus (for home use), and Microsoft Rewards are good too.

I’m just really used to Windows and how it works, both at home and at work, so the user interface feels natural to me. It’s also pretty easy to integrate other products, whether that’s games or building a server. I don’t mind using CoPilot at work either. It works very well as long as you have the right amount of RAM and know which added features to turn off if you don’t need them.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft?**

Being forced to upgrade old hardware to the new Windows before you're ready to do so, especially with the price of components.

**What problems is Microsoft solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving me from having to completely re-learn a new product ecosystem.  Great for gaming, work, video editing and can run or emulate other OS as well.  The microsoft product portfolio and account works well on the OS and helps to synchronize files and remember settings etc.

The cloud-native architecture is what stands out most — there's no infrastructure to provision or scale manually, which is a huge shift from running a traditional on-prem SIEM. KQL (Kusto Query Language) makes threat hunting and log analysis genuinely fast once you're past the learning curve; writing custom detection rules and hunting queries feels far more flexible than static rule-based systems.
The tight integration with the Microsoft security stack (Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, Entra ID) means correlating identity, endpoint, and cloud signals into a single incident happens automatically instead of requiring manual log stitching across tools. Sentinel's built-in SOAR capability through Logic Apps playbooks has also been valuable — automating response actions like isolating a host or disabling a compromised account cuts down response time significantly compared to fully manual triage.
Workbooks give solid out-of-the-box visualization for monitoring, and the MITRE ATT&CK mapping in analytics rules makes it easy to see coverage gaps at a glance. Without active cost management (using tools like Data Collection Rules to filter noisy tables), it's easy to get a bill that doesn't match expectations.
KQL has a steep learning curve for anyone coming from other SIEMs like Splunk (SPL) or QRadar — the syntax and logic aren't hard once you're fluent, but the ramp-up time to write efficient, non-resource-heavy queries takes real practice, and inefficient queries can silently drive up compute costs too.
Out-of-the-box analytics rules can generate a fair amount of noise/false positives until they're tuned to the environment, so initial setup requires real time investment in fine-tuning detection thresholds and suppression rules to avoid alert fatigue. I like how the systems are integrated and the vast library available for different usages. Pricing seems fair for most products. UI / UX is fairly decent.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft?**

Processes aren’t very straightforward, especially during setup. At times, it feels like a simple missing button or shortcut could speed things up and improve overall performance. Technical Support also isn’t 100% reliable, since it can take a long time to get a hold of someone, and finalizing tasks like setting up phone directories (and similar items) can take ages. Those steps are not very straightforward either and seem to require a lot of licensing. Overall, the processes could be much more straightforward, and there’s a lot of room for improvement in the UI/UX.

I use it to connect through email, Slack, Teams, SharePoint, Azure, and similar tools.

Word, Excel, and PPT—my whole job revolves around them. They’re easy to use, and the interface is friendly and straightforward.

I’m facing a few issues with Teams and Excel. In Teams, there are occasional voice problems. In Excel, the app sometimes closes on its own, especially when I’m working with heavy data or a large amount of numbers.

Microsoft has a really nice integration system. I can easily switch over from outlook, to excel, to teams. I also appreciate how teams tracks what I am doing across multiple apps. Realistically, I can keep a lot of my data in teams. It performs pretty well.

**What do you dislike about Microsoft?**

Outlook's search feature is rough. It is hard to find recent items. It'll sooner pull something old than recent. It also doesn't do well with key words, whereas google does amazing with finding emails through key words. Microsoft also glitches a fair amount. It is not unusual for outlook to go down a couple of times a year...or for excel to completely freeze my monitor. Microsoft can feel very outdated at times.

My organization uses it. I am able to email, share documents, and file with ease. It also makes collaboration easier.

Microsoft is one of, if not the top-tier, business software solution with products that can solve almost any business problem. It is a worldwide company with a matching support network. The different apps are seamlessly and thoroughly integrated out of the box.

Once you understand the language of Microsoft, this gets easier; however, the learning curve is very steep, and the support is often incomplete or outdated online.

Microsoft solves the problem of needing an all-in-one platform to offer to our employees and loan officers. That is more than just a benefit. It is a must-have in today's competitive mortgage market. We are a highly recruited industry where good loan officers have a lot of choices and complete freedom to move whenever they'd like.
