## About Maxwell Render
Maxwell Render is rendering technology capable of simulating light exactly as it behaves in the real world

## Maxwell Render Reviews
  ### 1. I used Maxwell as a Sketchup plugin for rendering.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amelia E. | Designer, Architecture & Planning, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

It's super easy to use, free, and creates decent renderings. It allows for a decent amount of control, such as colors and textures, lighting, shadows.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

It is not the strongest rendering software. It can take a very long time and does not always come out very high resolution. The renders it produces will always need to go through Photoshop.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is useful for generating 3D views of architecture that feel more life-like. It creates atmospheric images to help sell design ideas.

  ### 2. best render engine ever

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sohail A. | Freelance 3D Artist, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 15, 2021

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

it is cheap renderer engine compare to other like Vray etc.
Best quality shading and lighting with no GI flicking issues
Maxwell IPR Maxwell FIRE is best IPR out there it is fast from other IPR like vray or other render engine.
and the camera work is very very better in the Maxwell render engine, because its controls are very similar to cinema camera, and it is amazing to work with those settings.
I can stop and restart renders very fast like light cache in vray it shows how render will look like in final render on very very early stages that makes it very power full render engine in my opinion.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

it is still slow when rendering SSS, but I hope developers are working hard to make SSS faster to render.
there is no No procedural shading, the standard application has some procedural shaders but those are not enough
it is very very hard or impossible to do NPR rendering
there are so many files cache when starting the big scene render.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

it solve all the problem cheaply :)
IPR works amazing there that makes it better for IPR rendering software out there,
when ever I gets stuck somewhere I get help from documentations, which is a very great way to understand the render engine,
the layers shading system is better .. also the material library of the Maxwell renderer is amazing, so much materials are ready there.

  ### 3. Really good quality renders

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sofía L. | Architectural Assistant and Visualizer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 02, 2021

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

I really like the overall finish of the images. They look realistic and with lots of detail. What I like the best is the lighting options available, and the finish of the materials. And also, that it is easy to change and customize the materials. You can really see how your project will look like in real life.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

I think it could be more intelligible and easier to use as it is a bit difficult to use sometimes. I am really used to using V-ray for Sketchu Up to do my architectural visualizations and even though I am giving it a try, I still prefer V-ray. But, compared to KeyShot for example, I find it easier. Also, I belive it is a bit more expensive than other programs and rendering takes more time too.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

Maxwell is worth giving it a try! We get use to some rendering tools sometimes and it is good to try other new tools available in the market. Maybe it will take a while to get use to it, but there are lots of tutorials available. Dont get frustrated!.
It might be a little bit expensive compared to others but it is definitely worth it though. Your project and ideas really come to life with Maxwell Render.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have tried Maxwell for Sketch Up to make architectural visualizations (interior design mostly) and the results have been very good so far. I get really good photo-realistic images and pretty accurate visualizations. The material application is easy, and is easy to cuatomize them too.

  ### 4. Really good rendering software

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Akhilesh J. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 04, 2021

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

It is kind of user friendly and is pretty fast as well. So its kind of powerful rendering software out there, even better than vray usually. The camera is really good as well compared to other softwares. Also, best in the quality of lighting and shadows with probably no or less issues. However, still on the learning.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

Being used to vray rendering, its a bit confusing at times, but could get used to after a while. Maybe watching tutorials could really help. Also, its a bit slow sometimes and a bit expensive, but other than that everything's good.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

Sometimes it may need some time to get used to the software, but its a really good software. However, with the help of a few tutorial videos it'll be probably easier. But you may sometimes feel like its kind of user friendly and the rendering time is really good.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The material library is the best i guess. Usually use this for architecture design renderings both interior and exterior design renderings.

  ### 5. Worked pretty well for a beginner like me.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ahmad A. | Interior Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 14, 2021

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

I’ve only used it to test some interior shots, I’m still learning.
But the overall experience is amazing.
My favorite parts was how my pc handled the rendering process, as well as the need to make everything real world sizes the lighting really has a big difference If you’re precise.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

The interface as well as the complicity in the material editor.
I didn’t feel like it was beginner friendly.
But after some time you’ll get used to it.
And again I’m still learning.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

My recommendation is that you need to have a good background in the rendering softwares to have some of understanding while using maxwell render. Nevertheless if you were a beginner like me, you will be spending some time watching some tutorial. But you’ll get by.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I said the complicity in the material editor. But it has bright side that you use real life calculation into it.

  ### 6. Excellent quality and a very reliable reflection of the nature of the items.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2020

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

Maxwell is very easy to use. The strongest point of this rendering engine is its incredibly reliable rendering of true reality. It has no comparison to any other engine, especially for more difficult tasks. While many competitors' engines run fast, their work is reminiscent of the reality found in games or fairy tales. Maxwell produces the most reliable images. If someone cares about this aspect more than about the speed and extra colors, I highly recommend it. Ten years ago Maxwell had no any great competition, today there are few great players. It is worth to use the materials based on arrowa textures - they are really the highest quality.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

It is still slow, so I'm not sure about the animations. I'm using that for perfect static shots.
The material library, has also poor quality materials, so You have to check that very well before using.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm working with old classical architecture renovations. So the credibility of the shots is paramount. Visualizations of historical shots require the highest quality.

  ### 7. Maxwell is easy to use and faster in renders compared to other rendering softwares .

  ### 17. Maxwell 5 - highend realism with unbiased rendering

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark B. | Principal, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 07, 2020

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

1. Very high quality with minimum effort. The software is different to traditional renderers and essentially works of good use of the camera(s), lighting and advanced materials,
2. It's flexible and relatively easy to use and learn,
3. It supports a wide range of AEC, artist and film/media formats and add-on software,
4. It's established and has been around for over a decade,
5. It's reasonably priced and includes additional floating licenses and/or nodes. It's available as a standalone package or works via an add-on to a number of industry software.
6. The people behind Maxwell at Next Limit listen to user requests and often include these in updates/upgrades,
7. There's a large amount of free supporting information - training materials, examples, a free online material library etc.
8. Maxwell allows you to stop a render, save it, then resume the same render at another time/date.The software adopts an unusual but effect method allowing users to render either by setting a time period or level of quality. This adds great flexibility in the workflow and has been a great feature,
9. It includes a Multilight feature which allows post 'rendering' by changing any lighting (ambient, artificial etc.) after the render has finished and works almost real time depending on your hardware. This allows you to change a daylight scene to a night scene and everything in between from a single render, outputting addition images or lighting animations,
10. It's an unbiased renderer so the images are 'real'. You don't have to rely on faking the setup to get the image as the environment uses real world settings including materials,
11. It includes Maxwell FIRE as a real time pre-render feedback so you can see instant changes in the workflow,
12. It imports our CAD and BIM data without errors. We've tried other software over the years and there's been issues in the integrity of the data between transfers,
13. It supports referenced assets (xrefs) allowing large scenes to be built using external files which speeds up the render and workflow process,
14. We get consistently good images from Maxwell and our clients make positive comments on our work.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

1. It was slow to adopt the GPU option for rendering which has only just been released in v5,
2. The inbuilt animation options are limited requiring other specific software for dedicated animations,
3. It lacks an established library of drag and drop assets to populate scenes requiring the user to create their own fully featured scenes,
4. Due to it's high end realism it needs a system with grunt. It still works with your 'average' desktop but renders take longer. There's a lot of newer renderers coming onto the market based on game engines which reduce the number of polygons on their models. These appear to create good images and work much faster but when you compare the quality of the images Maxwell's realism stands out. I guess each office has to determine what output they are aiming for when selecting the right software.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

Know the market you want to compete in and the quality and type of imagery/animation you intend to produce. From memory it provides a free trial software so you can test it. There's also a lot of info on their web sites and doing a Google search for their various animation showreels.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

1. Maxwell is used throughout our workflow to supplement sketch images during conceptual design of buildings and interiors, including massing models and DA models etc. through to final marketing imagery for clients,
2. Given it's a true unbiased engine, using 'real' cameras and materials, we have greater confidence the images will reflect the as-built building or interior compared to traditional renderers that 'cut corners' in simply outputting good looking images,

  ### 18. say you change computer or your motherboard breaks twice, that's it. unless i buy another copy

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2020

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

its a con- I changed computer - that's one instal then the motherboard broke twice that's 3. and now I have a new motherboard and oh dear sorry you can use that software any longer unless you buy another copy

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

I can't use it any more without upgrading

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

well its good but no good if I can't use it anymore through no fault of my own

  ### 19. Maxwell is a decent cheap rendering plugin

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Amy E. | Architect, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 20, 2019

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

It is very easy and quick. Has some customizable options. Good shadows.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

It crashes quite a bit. Only works well with Sketchup. Not great for final renderings. Quality isn’t amazing.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Renderings allow us to show developed ideas, more realistic. Helps clients visualize the project and make design decisions.

  ### 20. Go to product that works effectively.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2019

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

The most helpful thing about Maxwell Render is that it gives me the ability to produce high quality results.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

The least helpful thing about Maxwell Render is there is no GPU rendering support for Macs, which is what I prefer to use.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

I would recommend that you take a training course so that you get the full functionality of it.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxwell Render has impacted my work through giving me a tool that helps me to produce high quality work for customers. It also helps me to do so in a quick and efficient way.

  ### 21. Easy-to-use Unbiased Rendering

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 28, 2017

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

Maxwell is used in our architecture office as the base rendering engine for all of our in-house renderings. It is relatively easy to set up an acceptable-quality render and the range of materials readily available from their library is pretty solid. The Fire capability is really useful for setting up views and testing and reworking the settings of the render.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

It isn't used by professional rendering firms for a reason - it's very slow, and the quality you get out of it may be realistic but it lacks the ability to provide mood or a more artistic sheen to the renders. Great for providing informative images on how a material might look in the real world, not so great for trying to really sell a concept.

**Recommendations to others considering Maxwell Render:**

Works very well with Rhinoceros and we're testing its compatibility with Revit in the office as well., but it looks to be pretty successful in terms of interoperability.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maxwell render can be used with render farm services to reduce its output time, so it can be relatively short work getting a basic render out of a certain form or material option of a design instead of having to send out the work to a rendering firm.

  ### 22. Maxwell render does exactly what it needs to do!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Design | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2017

**What do you like best about Maxwell Render?**

We use Maxwell together with Rhino. It is a brilliant match. Easy to use and good results.

**What do you dislike about Maxwell Render?**

May be just the speed. It does take some time to get hi res images if you do not use a network to render.

**What problems is Maxwell Render solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We create beautiful sales images with Maxwell render.
