"Automates Journal Entries and Speeds Up the Close, with Room to Improve Checklists"
5/5
What do you like best about Maxima?

I like the checklist format. It helps us keep track of tasks without making a new Excel file each month, reassign tasks, see what’s been approved and done, and reference journal entries and files. The automatic journal entries for bank transactions save us time on monotonous work, and uploading data to create entries speeds up the data-driven entries that take a while to put together. Maxima helps speed up our close process, keep it more organized, and cut down on grunt work. The bank matching tool seems pretty cool, too. Setup was pretty good and easy, and the team we worked with was great. They had a clear timeline and stuck to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maxima?

I'm still waiting on the cash forecast they're working on. I also wish the checklist could update automatically when we submit journal entries, or that there were some kind of interface to automate it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Valuable Partner for Our Accounting Team"
5/5
What do you like best about Maxima?

Maxima has been an incredible partner for our accounting team. The platform has taken a lot of the manual work and stress out of our month-end close by automating key journal entries, including payroll and cash entries, significantly improving our efficiency. In addition, Maxima’s Flux reporting and Max Agent have drastically reduced the time we spend on variance analysis, making it much easier to identify and understand key drivers.

The combination of automation, efficiency, and a highly responsive team has made Maxima a valuable part of our accounting workflow. We’ve really appreciated how closely their team listens to our feedback and continues to improve the platform based on our needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maxima?

We occasionally need additional customizations to fit our workflows, but the Maxima team has always been quick to understand our needs and find the right solutions. Their responsiveness and willingness to adapt the platform to our processes have made these situations easy to navigate and have given us confidence that Maxima will continue to evolve alongside our needs. We’ve been able to streamline our month-end close process from 10 days down to 5 days. We also connected our bank, which helps with our monthly cash entries and saves us a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Their Max agent is new, so it sometimes does not behave correctly or provide the right information. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Automation Makes Commission Journal Entries Fast and Effortless"
4/5
What do you like best about Maxima?

Automation has been super helpful for my day-to-day work, e.g. with the commissions module - it helps post lots of JEs that would've taken a lot of time individually into just a handful of JEs Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maxima?

The subledger upload system for the commissions module seems very clunky and doesn't allow for any catch-up adjustments. Would ideally like to see this revamped in a way where we can upload different versions of subledgers and the system would be able to post any adjustments/correcting JEs based on the different versions without us having to manually reverse out old JEs, post new ones, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Maxima is redefining modern accounting with fast-moving, next-generation tools"
5/5
What do you like best about Maxima?

Maxima builds accounting tools that are genuinely well thought out and robust. It’s clear they care not just about compliance, but about making sure things actually work as intended in real-world workflows. The UI is clean and intuitive, and it keeps improving—especially refreshing compared to legacy accounting tools that feel stuck in the past.

The team is fantastic to work with—not just friendly, but also incredibly smart and strong critical thinkers. It truly feels like a two-way street: we work closely together to shape and develop the tools, and they actively incorporate feedback into what they build. They also ship constantly, delivering both customer-requested features and proactive solutions they identify on their own. On top of that, their responsiveness is outstanding, with response times typically within the hour.

From a technical standpoint, Maxima’s integration options are extensive and seamless. It’s been easy to plug into our existing workflows and automate processes without friction. So far, we’ve automated full-cycle month-end close cash accounting, commissions accounting, and investments accounting.

They’ve also built powerful features like a close checklist with a strong audit trail (support linking, direct NetSuite journal entry links, comments, dependencies, and metrics tracking), flux analysis (including an AI-based flux tool that’s still evolving but promising) and account reconciliations that are directly tied to NetSuite, with the flexibility to view all transactions and manipulate data using pivots and other tools.

Overall, Maxima feels like a modern accounting platform built by a team that deeply understands accounting and moves quickly and thoughtfully to make their customers more effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maxima?

Because Maxima is still an early-stage company, there can occasionally be some rough edges or minor hiccups as new features are rolled out. That said, the team is very aware of this and moves quickly to address issues—anything we’ve encountered has typically been resolved within the same day. The core functionality of each module is solid and works as intended.

More broadly, working with a young company means things can evolve quickly, whether that’s product direction, prioritization, or documentation lagging slightly behind new releases. However, this comes with the upside of an exceptionally sharp team that listens closely, iterates fast, and partners deeply with customers. In practice, the speed and quality of improvement far outweigh the occasional growing pains. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy Implementation, Excellent Support, and Big Time Savings with Maxima"
5/5
What do you like best about Maxima?

What I like best about Maxima is how easy it was to implement. The onboarding process was straightforward, and the Maxima team provided an excellent level of support throughout — they were responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful whenever questions came up. Since using Maxima, we’ve seen significant time savings in our monthly accounting tasks, which has freed up time to focus on more value-add work. Overall, it’s been a very smooth and efficient experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Maxima?

There’s nothing I really dislike about Maxima, but I’m especially excited to see what new and more complex tasks will become available as the platform continues to evolve. As our needs grow, having access to more advanced capabilities will be a big value add. In the meantime, the Maxima team has been very responsive to feedback and quick to make tweaks to customize how things are set up, which makes the experience flexible and easy to adapt to our workflows.
