"Matrix: Making Quality Management More Efficient"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Once familiar with the system, accessing documents, records, training, and other modules is quite smooth. Reliable and performs well for routine activities, including handling a large volume of quality and compliance records. Provides good value for organizations in regulated industries by reducing manual work and improving traceability. Onboarding and training are straightforward, and the system is easy to understand after initial training. Automation and smart features such as notifications, training tracking, document control, and compliance monitoring help reduce manual effort. Matrix works well as a centralized QMS platform and integrates different quality processes such as document control, training, calibration, requirements, and compliance management within one system. What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

Occasionally, the system experiences bugs and screen-overlap issues, which can make navigation frustrating. At times, the software also becomes slow, particularly when working with multiple records or modules. Improving system stability, screen responsiveness, and overall speed would significantly improve the user experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Audit-Ready Traceability in One Connected System"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req has significantly improved our medical device development process by providing end-to-end traceability across requirements, risks, testing, bugs, and design controls in one connected system. Its flexible configuration allowed us to fit the platform into our existing SOPs, while automated document generation eliminated much of the manual Word and Excel work. Reliable performance, strong customer support, intelligent impact analysis, and audit-ready reporting have reduced preparation time, minimized documentation errors, and delivered clear value for our regulated development environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

The main drawbacks of Matrix Req are its steep learning curve, less polished interface, and complex template editing. New users require proper onboarding, while customizing Word reports often requires technical knowledge. Test execution can also feel dated and involve too many steps, and large projects may experience slower traceability views and document generation. Overall, these issues are manageable but could be improved through a more intuitive UI, visual template editor, and better performance for large projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible, Cost-Effective Requirements Management with Outstanding Support and Thoughtful AI"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

I most like the flexibility of the system to fit lots of different project structures. There's almost always a way to do what you want to do and customise the system to work for your organisation. The support has been second to none, with very fast responses and a comprehensive help function. On top of this, Matrix seems to be one of the first requirements management tools to integrate AI tools in a thoughtful and genuinely useful way. Through our tender process, Matrix came out as the most cost effective between the 3 options submitted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

The interface in Matrix Req can be a little off-putting to new users. Even though the basic functions are easy to learn, more advanced functionality is not always obvious and requires support from other colleagues. The backend server administration is thorough and provides good customisation, but some elements are quite tricky to learn, such as customising fields and labels. The other problem some people have encountered is how to manage multi-level requirements (e.g for system and subsystem requirements). Whilst the tool integrates with Jira, as most of our software is in the Microsoft ecosystem, it doesn't integrate particularly well with those tools. However, Matrix is flexible enough with import/export functionality to work alongside other tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very Efficient and Easy-to-use software to maintain QMS within an Organization."
4.5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Requirements is a well-designed QMS software that covers the full QMS scope, including audits, risk management, and the Design History File.

I recently explored its risk management capabilities, and it’s impressive how much you can do with it. The “Copy whole folder/files” feature is a big help when handling multiple company QMS setups. We’ve also started the Jira integration with Matrix, and it looks good so far.

Since we’re a large company with multiple verticals, the pricing feels quite feasible for us, and the ROI looks very strong. The Matrix team’s support is prompt and genuinely helpful; at any time, they resolve most queries within about two days. The recent AI-integrated features are also well built, and they seem to be pretty accurate. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

There seems to be a bug that still persists after recent update too. When I’m working in a table and need to add multiple rows above, the up-arrow button only works once. It lets me add just one row, and then I have to switch to another row’s arrow button to add the remaining rows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Much Better Control Over Requirements and Testing"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req has brought discipline into our requirements and testing management process. Instead of searching through several spreadsheets and documents to find relations between different elements of our projects, now we have a convenient way to view connections between requirements, tests and other artifacts. Impact analysis and reporting tools are especially useful since they simplify reviews and save us from administrative routine. In general, it has enhanced traceability and made internal reviews more uniform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

Some time is required to get familiar with the application since some terms are unclear and the interface is rather outdated. Creating customized documents may also require additional configuration, and large projects may seem slow when working with complex traceability relationships. "One Source of Truth for Requirements"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

The biggest improvement Matrix Req has brought to our team is having one dependable source of truth for our development documentation. We manage a large number of requirements and verification activities, and maintaining relationships between them manually was becoming increasingly difficult. With Matrix Req, we can link requirements to risks, tests, defects, and other development artifacts and review those relationships directly in the project. The change history and traceability capabilities are especially valuable during design reviews because we can quickly determine what was affected by a change. Another feature we use heavily is automated document generation. Instead of maintaining multiple versions of similar information in Word and Excel, we can generate reports using the current project data. This has saved our team considerable administrative effort. We also appreciate the ability to configure the platform around our existing processes. Our implementation did not require us to completely replace our established workflows. Support has been another positive aspect. When we have encountered configuration questions, the responses have generally been practical rather than simply pointing us toward generic documentation. The software has made our development process more organized and given us much better visibility into project completeness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req is not something I would expect a new user to master immediately. The platform offers a lot of functionality, and understanding how all the different relationships and configuration options work takes time. Some screens also feel more functional than polished, particularly compared with newer cloud applications. We would like the report and template configuration process to be more visual because it currently requires more technical involvement than some members of our team would prefer. The test execution workflow could also be streamlined for larger test campaigns. Another minor concern is that complex traceability reports can take longer to load as project sizes increase. These are mostly usability issues rather than fundamental problems with the platform, but they are worth considering during evaluation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Strong Foundation for Compliance Traceability"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req has given our team a much more structured way to manage requirements, risks, testing, and design documentation. Before adopting it, we were constantly moving information between spreadsheets, Word files, and separate tracking tools, which made it difficult to know whether everything was still aligned. Having requirements, risk controls, verification activities, and defects connected in one environment has made the entire development process easier to manage. The traceability views are particularly useful during design reviews because we can quickly see which requirements are covered and where additional action may be needed. We also like the flexibility of the platform. Instead of completely redesigning our internal procedures around the software, we were able to configure item types, workflows, and relationships to reflect our existing development process. The document generation capabilities have also reduced a significant amount of administrative work. Our team can generate controlled documentation from current project data rather than repeatedly updating separate Word documents. Customer support has been responsive and helpful, especially when we have questions about configuring the system for regulated development. Overall, Matrix Req has improved consistency, visibility, and confidence in our documentation. The software has reduced the time we spend maintaining spreadsheets, reconciling requirements, preparing audit documentation, and generating reports. While the initial setup and training require an investment, the time savings, improved traceability, and reduced documentation errors make the overall cost worthwhile for a regulated development team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

The biggest challenge has been the initial learning curve. Matrix Req is flexible, but that flexibility means new users need some time to understand the different object types, relationships, workflows, and reporting options. The interface is functional, although some areas could be more modern and intuitive. Report template customization is another area where we would like to see improvement. The available options are powerful, but creating more sophisticated Word templates can require technical knowledge. Test management is useful, but executing larger test campaigns could involve fewer steps. We have also noticed that very large projects can take longer to display complex traceability information or generate extensive documents. None of these issues have prevented us from using the platform effectively, but improvements in usability and performance would make the experience even better. "Consistent Documentation Generated Directly from Live Project Data"
5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

The ability to generate documentation directly from live project data is extremely useful. Rather than treating the technical file as a separate, standalone exercise, the documentation stays connected to the requirements, risks, and verification work that’s already being maintained in Matrix Req. As a result, the documentation feels far more consistent and aligned with the rest of the project. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

Getting document templates exactly the way you want them can take a bit of upfront effort, but once they’re set up, the consistency and repeatability afterward make it well worth it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly and Highly Customizable Traceability in Matrix Req"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req stands out because of its user-friendly interface and customizability. It allows us to easily tailor custom fields and set up personalized traceability rules that fit our exact workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Matrix Req?

It doesn’t have MS Word upload integration, so we can’t create documents as neatly as we do in MS Word. There are also a lot of limitations in how the created documents look. It’s also a bit slower now when trying to generate larger test files, and we can’t have multiple risk matrices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent medical device requirements management software"
5/5
Describe the project or task Matrix Req helped with:

We wanted to replace a mix of Word documents and Excel traceability matrices with dedicated medical device requirements management software. Matrix Req has reduced manual traceability work, made design reviews easier and given us much more confidence that our documentation is complete and audit ready. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Matrix Req?

Matrix Req gives us one place to manage user needs, design inputs, design outputs, risks and test evidence. The biggest improvement has been end to end requirements traceability. We can see how a change affects downstream requirements, risk controls and verification activities without maintaining a separate spreadsheet. For a regulated medical device team, that visibility is extremely valuable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
