The records they gave me to host with them has never worked and I would've been left if I couldn't get my money back from a lifetime deal I bought a year ago with them. Next up, they have the worst customer service ever! Asking for the same thing for over a year to get simple DNS settings and they continue to return responses that have nothing to do with what I want. Next up, I'm going to assume there's a language barrier here because the person who responds always responses in broken english and acts like he doesn't understand what's being requested. It's DNS settings not very hard to provide! Last but not least, the owner or whoever is in charge hasn't stepped in this entire time nor has anyone stepped in to figure out why is the same question being asked a million times and this hasn't been provided. **What problems is MakersHost solving and how is that benefiting you?** They haven't solved any problems and at this point has caused a terrible expense. ### 2. The first thing I did, before migrating or creating any new site, was to create a test site and have been doing some testing on it, with great results and good feelings so far: - Network response times are good. - Server seems always quick and responsive. - For the ones used to cPanel, well, it's not cPanel, but you will get used really quick. You may miss something from cPanel (I didn't miss anything I need to be honest), but there's also some nice additions. - The included CDN and optimization features, even if you can get better results with other solutions and some knowledge, they work really well and should be more than enough for lots of sites/people grabbing this deal, and will be probably not worth the additional time spent and/or costs for most of the projects you will be hosting on that kind of shared hosting. **What do you dislike about MakersHost?** So, all in all, let's say that performance and usability wise, I'm really happy, it's nice for a shared hosting, what I don't like: - In this AppSumo deal, unless you are stacking 5+ codes and get "everything unlimited", the mailboxes can be REALLY short. Having "on average" 1 mailbox per domain I think is really low in most cases, more mailboxes should be needed, I know I'll need more per domain usually, I'd would prefer to have more mailboxes even if they have less storage for each of them or something like that, I don't know what the solution has to be, but I think that having more mailboxes is kind of a must. - I didn't need to use the support yet, but in some cases (i.e. the server or the connection are 100% down), the SLA 24h maybe too much, I hope that if it's not done already, pretty soon, the tickets are reviewed fast, and then they are scaled according to the severity of the problem or the question asked. **Recommendations to others considering MakersHost:** I'd recommend to try makershost to anyone in need for a good offer for a shared hosting. It's working really well for me. As I pointed out previously, what I don't like about the particular package I got (and some others), is the short quantity of mailboxes provided, if you plan to use all, or most of the domains available, and will need multiple mailboxes for them, you may need one of their (obviously more expensive) "unlimited" packages, or look somewhere else. Their other products (VPS, etc...) are probably good too, I see no reason for them to be worse than the product I've purchased (they should be way better in fact), but I can't tell myself, but some other user will probably share their experience with those products. **What problems is MakersHost solving and how is that benefiting you?** MakersHost is a good and affordable hosting and I think it should cover anyone's hosting needs. I only tried this shared hosting package, and compared to similar shared hostings I've used is performing really well "out of the box", time will tell, but it seems it can be a good solid hosting. ### 6. Taking several WP installations from design to delivery, even while receiving simultaneous beta traffic, has overwhelmed cheap, shared hosting in the past-- but not MakersHost. I don't use MakersHost for anything mission-critical at this point, but if the service keeps this level of performance I'm not opposed to it. **What do you dislike about MakersHost?** While the websites themselves have always been fast (in my experience), the backend control panel lags a bit. It's just a minor annoyance. Also, the CP provides 'one-click installs' for wordpress (Great) but when you go to nuke a project, it's all manual (check wp-config.php for the DB name and then pray you delete the right one in the SQL admin section, and then delete the folder in the file manager). **Recommendations to others considering MakersHost:** From my understanding, MakersHost is reselling the infrastructure behind the service. Be advised. **What problems is MakersHost solving and how is that benefiting you?** I frequently need to design and prototype web projects but investing in a powerful server for what's essentially a basic cost of doing business doesn't make sense. Until MakersHost, I haven't had an actually /powerful/ server that's affordable. The cost savings here vs. conventional shared hosting on the usual players will be substantial. ### 8. If you have a money site, really be careful as when it goes down, it’s down for days, not a couple of hours. They have consistently been longer than the response time they mention. I’m trying to migrate out to another provider, as this has been my worst experience with hosting, and they aren’t helping. There are errors with the migration they need to help with. Been about a week with no response. Not happy at all! Very good uptime. **What do you dislike about MakersHost?** Some delay of email setup, issuing ssl, and few others function (somewhere around 15-30mins) **Recommendations to others considering MakersHost:** Despite the young hosting business, after using their service for a few weeks, I can admit that they have a very responsive support personnel. The staff look into my problem carefully and willing to investigate further into the issue on my particular WP multisite setup. Also the hosting panel & client area dashboard is much more user friendly (compared to other providers who are using the same 20i panel) easy to navigate and access the support ticket system. Performance wise, since the hosting is currently based in the UK, so the site speed is quite fast for my UK market. But they said that they might move to US based servers, yet if this does happen, it may slightly affect the site speed for UK users even with the CDN on. Anyway, this is a good LTD deals, and I'm hoping that their business will last & grow. I'm guessing with every Appsumo code purchased, they can extend their monthly reseller subscription for another month. Keep up the good support & service life. The only hiccup i experienced was from Network Solutions because they take up to three (3) days to get an "Auth Code", before i can transfer my domain over the MakersHost. So be sure to do your transfers with plenty of time on your side! The price was excellent. I appreciate the generous 100 GB of space and the 10 x 10 GB email accounts. That's a generous size as a lot of hosts are 1 GB max for email accounts or less. The backbone that Makershost uses seems to be very good and they are expanding to the US. I'd seen that Makershost may offer US servers in the future (this year) which I look forward to. The control panel is not cpanel but very intuitive and actually looks more modern. I'm very pleased with their offering so far. When i needed help I received a response to the ticket in less than 24 hours. **What do you dislike about MakersHost?** I haven't really found anything I dislike but having to pick something, I'd say the fact that they don't have chat support. However, given the value and price point their 24 hour ticket response times are reasonable and worth keeping the price so low.
