I love their Text to to Video feature. It allowed me to create something almost tremendously useful when I tried the free version. This is after spending a lot of time. I loved the way their scene composition worked. I like the edit feature of the script. While it is time consuming, this is way better than working with a professional marketing firm and the cycle time.

Lumen5 is a well-established way for small businesses to create lots of professional videos quickly and easily without being a video expert. Improvements keep being made, such as adding AI voices, AI scripts and AI editing. Videos are easy to switch between wide, square and tall formats to suit different social platforms. I like that it formats text so it's aligned, lets you add custom music and images, and lets you customize the time for each slide. The videos always look very polished and professional. I also like the social media webinars that Lumen5 occasionally offers. The few times I've reached out to the support team, they have been very kind and helpful. Increasingly, Lumen5 has been frustrating to deal with because of new features that can't be turned off. For instance, you used to be able to upload custom text and create slides the way you want to. Though it was cumbersome to sometimes delete the slides automatically created using the platform's AI system, you could still edit the slides and the source text relatively easily. Now, it seems like this isn't possible anymore, and you have to use whatever their AI thinks sounds good. It's hard to explain, but I don't have the same degree of control in the final product as in the past. Also, despite saving a brand template with custom colors, font, layout, dimensions, etc., I have never been able to start a video from scratch using the template. It never looks how it's supposed to, and it takes more time to correct this. As a workaround, I've duplicated existing videos and removed all the text, background photos, etc. This makes everything more time-consuming when the program should simplify the process. There are many times when I have a body of text that I'd like to make into a video. It's easy to drop it into Lumen5 and let the app create bites of video stitched together in an intelligent way. It often picks creative assets for video and images that match what the text is talking about. It's normally spot on... but it is also easy to search and drop in alternative creative assets. Lumen5 has very few downsides. It would be nice to be able to intersperse quick "talking head" interviews into the standard videos we create. I'm told Lumen5 is working on that but the talking head component would complete the platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Lumen5's user interface and ease of use. The video and image library offers us ample choices to create videos on various topics in our industry.
