## About LetX
LetX is a browser-based collaborative LaTeX editor for research teams, university departments and labs. Multiple authors edit the same document at once with conflict-free merging, compile to PDF in a few seconds on managed infrastructure, and roll back to any earlier version. No local TeX installation is required on any machine, and every co-author gets an identical environment. Departments and labs get shared workspaces with seat-based licensing and role-based access control (owner, admin, member, viewer), so an administrator onboards members centrally instead of chasing individual subscriptions. Seat assignment, invitations, role changes and removals are recorded in a workspace audit log, and members can be invited in bulk. Seats govern who holds a paid plan. They are not a charge for collaboration: any number of people can edit a project together on any plan, including the free one, so cost never scales with the number of co-authors on a paper. LetX includes Lexi, an AI assistant that runs the actual compiler. It edits the document, reads the real latexmk log and fixes the line that failed, rather than producing LaTeX that has to be pasted and debugged elsewhere. LetX also runs a hosted MCP server, so Claude and ChatGPT can search templates, create projects, edit files and compile to PDF directly. The library covers 1,019 publication and institutional formats across 21 categories: IEEE, Springer, Elsevier, Nature, ACM and arXiv journal submissions, university thesis layouts, CVs, grant proposals and Beamer presentations. Teams start from a compliant document instead of building a preamble by hand. Customer documents are never used to train AI models. LetX declares Content-Signal: ai-train=no and is not tied to any single LLM vendor, which matters for unpublished research. In production since January 2026, used across 260+ institutions in 55+ countries, including INGV Italy, INPE Brazil, CAB CSIC-INTA Spain, UCSD, TUM and Korea University.
